- This is a tool-assisted speedrun of Goldeneye: 007 for the Nintendo Wii. It was made with the Dolphin Emulator. This project took roughly 10 months to make, and i'm really happy with the finished product.

Excellent run! Was very entertained by the shenanigans during the waiting sequences, especially the bit in the Archive escape with the four bozos getting pinged and lined up before the grenade. Very entertaining run, good luck on acceptance at TASVideos! I'd put this right into Moons, possibly even Stars.

I'm always rewatching this amazing TAS because of how entertaining it is. Seriously you did a good job on this. It actually inspired me to play this game 007 classic myself, and it was way more fun than I remember. Can't wait for what the updated TAS would be like...

No. This is a tool-assisted speedrun. That means this run is a scripted series of inputs that play through the game as fast as possible. During the making of this run, I was able to essentially rewind the game and play frame-by-frame, which means I can fix any mistakes in the gameplay. That's what makes the aiming in this run so good.

No problem! Cradle is a really tough mission, but it's a lot easier when you can spawn kill the enemies in the first section and trap Trevelyan in a corner near the end.

Yes. While this game was definitely ahead of its time, Dolphin makes everything look way better. Also, this is a tool-assisted speedrun, meaning it was made using emulator tools like savestates and frame advance. Basically I'm able to play frame by frame and rewind any mistakes I make so I can make a theoretically perfect run. Keep in mind it's just for entertainment so it doesn't compete with any real speedruns.

Idk if you'll see this, but why emulate it using the gamecube controller? Why not emulate wii remote/nunchuk so you can freely move Bond's gun?
There are some pros and cons to the different control schemes, but overall for a TAS like this, the Wii remote and nunchuck might be a little faster. It won't make much of a difference since the turning speed is already insanely fast for both control schemes, but the Wii remote should save some time here and there because you won't have to turn to shoot enemies. I used the GameCube controller for this TAS because that's the control scheme I'm used to using, and making a TAS with a Wii remote and nunchuck was a pretty big pain at the time I started working on this. It's improved quite a bit over the years, though. If I ever make another TAS for this game, I'll put more effort into experimenting with the different control styles, but I think the difference in the long run would be pretty small.

@@flissfloss915 Thanks! I'm always happy to respond to questions people ask in the comments. TASing is a hobby of mine but I haven't dedicated much time to it lately. But It's something I could see myself getting back into one day. Also, you should check out some of the more recent Nightfire speedruns. The game has changed a lot over the years, and Liam's world record run does some really insane stuff to save time everywhere. It's a really great watch.

how did you play the game with emulated gamecube controller?
You can enable a gamecube controller in Dolphin's controller menu then plug in a real gamecube controller using an adapter. You can also enable "Standard controller" to use a different type of controller as if it were a gamecube controller.
Speed runners are also known as pro players. Even I can't do speed runs on Goldeneye 007 or Perfect Dark on the hardest difficulty.
There is a speedrun for everything
