Hey Dad, how do you feel about the Deus Ex Series? 😎😎
The only things I enjoy more than video game retrospectives are sweet drink combos and of age, alive, cis-gendered, consenting, non-related…alive…human…women. TMDWU

What about the Gay of Sex series
Awesome possum. X]
Love it son. Just like how I love you, son.
Getting into the original deus ex story around the time of covid starting was a wild experience to say the least.
Shit man you're telling me I revisited it during COVID while taking LSD regularly and I can't recommend it (enough?)
Played it for the first time during COVID.
@@newusernamehere4772 omg you're wild for that idk if I could stand how *Y E L L O W* the last two are xD
I forgot a lot about the game and played it again in the middle of covid lockdowns, was eerie honestly.
@New Username Here I played senuas sacrifice while tripping on shrooms. I beat it in one sitting, couldn't possibly recommend it more lol
2:00:00 You can actually save Malik in the sequence after the plane is shot down, if you stay and defend her. This is also possible without killing anyone, but this is fairly difficult from what I remember.
Make sure you have at least the tranq rifle, cloaking aug, and a bunch of gas and EMP grenades. A stun gun wouldn't hurt either.
This was one of my favorite scenarios in DX-HR, although it likely had a lot to do with my mental state at the time I first played it. I had been playing for a long time by the time I got to this situation and I was in kind of a surreal altered state of mind. I felt like I was literally in the movie Black Hawk Down. The fact that I nailed it on the first attempt was a pretty nice high. Later play throughs didn't really give me the same sense of immersion, but it still remains one of the best experiences I had in the game.
Saving her is easy, I did it on my first run through but doing it while trying not to kill anyone is pretty hard. That first run I was _avoiding_ killing but went weapons free when surrounded by nothing but soldiers. For some reason killing to protect someone else was much easier than killing to protect myself.
It's also Canon, there's a little cutscene in Mankind Divided that tells one that.
Is this time stamp right?
Oh okay a bit after 2:01:34
Yeah weird how he brushed over that part. Lmao
Mankind Divided has got to be one of my all times favourite singleplayer games ever. Story was meh but the gameplay, immersion and world building was just.... WOW!
I liked the story but I probably would have liked it even more if the game’s length was longer
I love this series, it’s probably my favorite in all of gaming. I hope Eidos gets to finish Jensen’s story.
Horrible news, Embracer Group has cancelled Development of the new Deus Ex game that Eidos was working on for 2+ years last week and laid off 97 people.
I just found out.
I'am so bummed right now, I didn't ask for this...
This man has became my favorite reviewer. Good stuff dude!
Glad that I could be your favorite!

Deus Ex is one of the best games ever made. Excited to dive into this video!
It's amazing
The original Deus Ex was quite prophetic whether intentionally or by accident
The original Deus Ex is the greatest game I ever played. I recently played through Alien Isolation and the openness of the level design reminded me a lot of Deus Ex.
It's really nothing g like deus ex at all but aight
I loved the original Deus Ex- what a game.
@@oh-not-the-bees7872 it's not, but their gameplay style is the same. they are both immersive sims
@@blurryvision942ot really. Alien Isolation is more of a survival horror game. Both good games but nothing alike
@@blurryvision942 I've never heard of anyone calling Alien Isolation an Immersive Sim.
This is a great video. Proud of you, son. Can’t wait to show the guys at work.
Hope you enjoy!
I can't believe you let Malek die. :/ Never leave someone behind! I remember saving her while doing a ghost/no detection run and that was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I'm really just joshin' ya - it's not like saving her changes much at all, sadly. To quote Hbomb about Deus: HR: "it's ok." Looooved the original, though - one of those games that stays installed forever.
Yes! I had to abandon my ghost/no kills playstile just to save her!
Letting Malek die is not canon. There is Easter egg in MD where you can find a sweet note from her in Jensen’s apartment 🤓
i cant help but notice your voice feels softer in this upload than previous ones. as someone who finds these videos comforting, i absolutely adore it and appreciate it so much. thank you, son, for all your hard work. i'm proud to be your dad ❤️
It's funny, when I started playing Deus Ex Human Revolution I didn't know what I was getting into, such a great game, immediately I began playing Deus Ex the first one, Invisible War and then replay Human Revolution, such a fun time I had, it blew me away that I could do a full playthrough without been seen, then in 2021 I finally could play Mankind Divided, uff amazing game, a little short story wise but great gameplay and world, I was yet again blown up by the fact that you can just deactivate the HUD elements and smoothly play the game without any problems because of the missions where implemented in such a cool way that even the NPCs tell you exactly where you need to go or look without needing the map or a marker showing you the way, it immersed me in such a way that I was really impressed, I really wish more game do something like that more often.
This is a solid video man. MD is such a dense sandbox map it amazes me. I been playing this game for years at this point and like you I still feel like I haven't found everything or done things in the right order. I hope on the next one the developers do better with the side quest story lines. I found many that didn't end up ending or mattering, also found info on characters that I could never bring up
yea i dont think theres gonna be one
@@28br there were news that new game is in really early development
This video always randomly plays for me after I’m done watching my queue
The problem with being an old school conspiracy theory is they used to be so outlandish they were fun because they probably weren't true, these days conspiracy theories just feel like tomorrow's news today
I could watch these retrospectives all day seriously, they put together so masterfully🫡
Man. I freaking love this channel. I love your voice, the way you talk about stuff, the fact that you do long retrospectives. New favorite channel
Another sonday, another sonny day.
And an early happy nowrouz son.
Happy Sonday!
Literally just found you, and you're already one of my favorite reviewers, your voice over is phenomenal! And i love that you keep an open mind throughout even if you dislike certain things. Keep it up man!
I have been binging a lot of deus ex retrospectives, so another one is very welcoming
Great work man. On point for pretty much everything. My only gripe (if we can even call it that) was that I thought certain "events" probably deserved a bit more attention. Now I know this is probably due to everyone's individual experiences with the games, and that what may have been special to me, will not be in any way remarkable to someone else. Also I guess that elaborating on certain things on UA-cam is not always wise. My number one example was from MD when re-visiting the train station. Witnessing the tranquil aftermath of a large-scale terrorist attack and soaking up all the little details was utterfly fascinating and horrific to to me. Like the bodybags, some of which were smaller than the others.. Hard stuff but brutally honest. Shit I'm blogging again.. great work dude, 10/10
Mankind Divided was good. I wish it were more than half of a game.
Mankind divided is my favorite video game of all time, but I did wish did they would have done a lot more for this game
The Dvali gang were not a Czech gang in-game, they were Georgian
I thoroughly enjoyed Invisible War as I have played it in a vacuum. Being a kid, I picked this game up at a garage sale. Intrigued by the somewhat typical "Cool guy pointing a tilted gun at you" box art. Playing it through and through was certainly a different experience that captivated my 11 y-o self. Having played other Deus Ex games now, it certainly is a step down and I'd advise playing IW before the first one. Even with the lack of context, going from IW to 1 really opens everything up.
Love the retrospective videos. There is one thing whenever I see people discuss Human Revolution that always seems to overlooked. It's an easy to miss side quest, and it delves into Adam's origins, and relationship with another character. I feel it was, at one point supposed to be much bigger to the entire franchise. Maybe I', the one that's wrong and I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill. But, it's there, and they make some reference to it in Mankind Divided, so IDK.
Love your reviews man. Top notch. Cheers from Brazil!
Damn, Son.
I'm proud of you. Great video as always.
I remeber playing this game and it was so much diffrent than any other game back in the day. I was addicted and all my friends thought I was crazy because they didn't have a pc good enough to play it they missed out.
Deus ex HR is one of my top 3 games I played in my life! It blew me away.
Of all the sons I have, you highlighting the brilliance of this game series makes you my very favourite. I'm just gonna duck out for some cigarettes real quick, I'll brb.
I didn't ask for this...
But I'm so glad that I got it.
"Soul" I'm loving the simple word to describe this esoteric feeling in these works!
I'm a first time viewer here, and you certainly know how to communicate your thoughts in a clean & coherent manner. Pretty dope essay. You have that parry rizz. liked & subscribed.
Remember I was blown away with the twist :-) Didn't expect it haha. I tried the demo back in the days, but hated the shooting mechanics compared to quake2/3, cs, half-life. Tried last year and the game blew me away. Also add the conspiracy theory that somewhat predicted the future, and the game is a gem.
Holy Shit! Deus Ex has a tutorial? Luckily I did not knew anything about tutorial back in those days. Nothing can replace Deus Ex as a blind experience. So many options, so many ways, so many things to learn.
Human Revolution's artwork is pure Ghost in the Shell (the movies) aesthetic. At different points, one can find elements of Armitage III, Magazine 23, Bubblegum Crisis, and Battle Angel Alita. This may also be an issue of rhizotomy, where traits are shared between representatives of the source genre (anime), making what looks like an Armitage III reference actually turn out to be an Iczer 3 reference instead.
This series is great, retrospectives are so fun. I love Deus Ex, I wish we could get another one, with way more customization and crazy conspiracy stories.
Someday

Great video. I still have yet to play Invisible War so I skipped that portion of your video. Couple of notes, which I'm sure u know but haven't mentioned.
At 36:00, you can enter the prison cell with Walton and ask the prisoners questions and they have some very interesting dialogue.
At 2:01:35 you can save Malik if you dispatch of the enemies before they destroy her vertibird.
I remember playing DE:HR about a month after release. Was in a shop deciding between this or Warhammer 40K Space Marine. I'm glad I chose DE although Space Marine is great game as well. It was my intro into the Deus Ex franchise and what a great one. Spent playing it for a week straight when I was too "sick" for school. To this day I completed Deus Ex and DE:HR about 7 times with different play styles each. Love the GMDX mod for Deus Ex as well, has some nice gameplay changes and it still fits in the game.
Invisible war was my first deus Ex and I fell in love with the series ever since, started when I was maybe 10
ughh thank you... I have to do my Diploma thesis, but first I might watch a retrospective.
and probably replay Deus Ex :D
What timing, thanks!
Hope you enjoy it!

Will be doing some one-off games next!
They better be, considering he's making them for his father
I’m mostly unfamiliar with the game, but familiar with your content so I’m looking forward to this.
Hope you enjoy the video!
Hey thanks
Well it took some time but I did very much enjoy it. Kind of a sad story of what may have been.
Oh hell yeah. Good work son.
Thanks Dad
Getting knocked out while saving Paul isn't scripted only happens if you fail scripted fail event is later at the subway

THANK YOU FOR THIS BROTHER ! 🤟

'Our ship is shot down, and Malick is killed in the process'
Not if you're any kind of man
FYI you can save your pilot, Malik. She doesn’t have to die. It’s tough and you have to be fast but she doesn’t have to die.
The only thing I like better than Deus Ex is watching you talk about it!
You have such a soothing voice!
My most memorable moment from the original Deus Ex was not being able to get in a building I needed to advance the plot.
I ended up using my augmented legs to leap from the balcony of one skyscraper to another, and stumbling right in to the next part that advanced the plot totally by accident.
Man i can't believe this is my son.
Dad is proud, buddy!
I first played invisible war on my xbox and loved it. I didn't play the original till about 20 years later on a pc playing the original no mods the old graphics and all.. I could see why it was heralded as one of the greatest games ever made. It stands up to time better than just about any game De that time period. It's the greatest immersive sim ever made.. Its one of the greatest games ever made. It made me feel almost silly for loving the sequel such as a kid bit it was the deus ex I had, and I enjoyed it a lot. Played it a lot. Loved the fact you could take so many different paths/choices. But the first, was the deus ex I nevever knew I needed. It was perfect. I mean it looked poor, it had clunky controls, it was a little janky.. But still just so perfect it's so hard to explain to someone who hasn't experienced the original deus ex.. Just PLAY IT. it's a masterpiece!
seemed like a good series , interesting expressions and yes awesome graphics.
Good video Son, see you in the next video or stream I can catch
Hey son. I like your new tattoos! Awesome content as always.
One major thing you didn't mention was how Deus Ex reacted to what you did. You can kill the terrorist leader at the top of the statue of liberty and soldiers will mention it to you, you can go in guns blazing and kill people in the train station and people will comment on it being a bloodbath, you can kill Agent Navarre before you're "supposed to" and Alex will immediately pop up reacting to what you just did. you can kill Gunther by using his kill switch word..all these things were what made me play the game through multiple times 20 years ago. It felt like your actions mattered and very few other RPG games I've played since has made me feel like that.
There is, actually, another game in the series; Project Snowblind by Crystal Dynamics, released for both PC and PS2. It's original title was Deus Ex: Clan Wars but the developers took it in another direction and renamed it. I still, personally, include it as part of the DE franchise, set between The Conspiracy and Invisible War. If you ever decide to play it, I think you'll see why.
Cheers!
Another good video!
the no twin towers in deus ex is pretty creepy you gotta admit
Funny how prophetic the first game was
It's just basic anti-capitalism, chap
it's cannon that malik lives (you can save her when it's shot down and there's an easter egg in DXMKD where she leaves a little heli in your cereal box)
after That retrospective i Think i finally must play deus ex series
"Deus Ex is a series" I cannot agree more
Never played the first cause I was late to the series but I gave it a try when PS3 was still popular. I went blind and it was amazing. Now I have mankind divided and I am loving it so far
I never asked for this retrospective.
Just waiting for that 1 last entry that bridges the gap between Mankind Divided & the first game.
Hopefully someday
Shoutout for the 2 Hong Kong bartender conversations for connecting the philosophical threads started early with the NSF Commander on Liberty Island, Juan Lebedev on the plane, and continued later with Morpheus.
My favorite game franchise of all time. The original Deus Ex was one of the most thought-provoking games I'd ever played. Thought Invisible War was ok, though flawed. LOVED Human Revolution. Liked Mankind Divided a ton, though the abrupt ending caught me off-guard. Apparently, a new Deus Ex game is in very early development stages. Definitely looking forward to it! Adam Jensen deserves a worthy send-off.
25:00 You’re so spot on about how conspiracy theories went from an enjoyable genre to an unrecognizable lifestyle. I was the same consuming media that was conspiracy laced in the early day and enjoying it then flash forward to jan6th and realizing how close u could have been to being led there through some conspiracy bread crumbs u gullibly followed.
Think this video is probably the first time I heard you curse in the video I was like "woah, he's serious"
Thanks! You really are what your moniker suggests.
Glad you enjoy the videos! Much appreciated!

I really enjoy the content here at YFS... (suggestion : I'd love to see you do the STALKER Series?!)

When the COVID pandemic was starting to be a great concern, I was imagining how the world would changed based on Deus Ex I've been playing a few rounds in 2000.
Good work kid! 👏
This needs to be said: it's Simons, not Simmons. It's pronounced SAI-MINS, not SIH-MINS. Also, Aquinas is AH-KWAI-NIS, not AH-KEE-NAS. Both are verbally mentioned multiple times in game.
Oooh boy now I know what I'm gonna do next friday after a long week at work with some snacks by my side on the sofa. Already listened to each video at work with audio only.
Do you see your viewers more listening or watching these videos? Just wondering if thats something you take into account when making these videos.
That's a good question, but honestly I'm not sure. I do know a ton of people listen to the videos in a podcast format.
@@YourFavoriteSon1 you have good voice/audio balance for pure audiobooks if you ever want to do "smaller" projects. Keep it up son, i'm proud of you.

"Cutscene Jensen" to the rescue! Where we do the fun stuff for you!
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
The only actual reason for someone to go for the orchid and not to save the religious nutcase daughter is to see one amazing easter egg that explains a lot about Jensen, the illuminaty and why they watch him so closely to have a member of them is at TF21 with him. .........drum roll..... because he is a clone of Jensen, the Jensen we met at DXHR died in Panchea, the reason that he has blurred memories is because he isn't the same person for the memories to make any cohesion, which explains why the augments were installed without him noticing it, he never experienced himself without them, even if he didn't know about them. He is watched so closely because he is an agent of the illuminaty without him knowing it, which also explains why they have some level of trust that he will see (by himself or by force) things their way.
There are a few videos on youtube about it and how to see the a 1 sec easter egg. To anyone who went at the versalife vault, his body was inside one of the cryogenic coffins (the top one at the corner, use smart vision to see half a body, from chest and up) and you can only see it by throwing a grenade (either emp or stun, it doesn't matter which as long as you have the ugrades to not be harmed by them) while you are recording ideally, to actually see it and pause when it happens...
I'm going to be honest, when it comes to narrative, the newer games are pretty shallow and infantile compared to the first game, it went from using the cyberpunk setting as backdrop for a commentary about the nature of power, control and its incentives, intermingled with real life references, to "what if some people really hated augmentations, whoa" kind of reminds me of the original Fallout games vs the newer ones by Bethesda, where the narrative is way more surface level, making the aesthetics of the setting the main theme instead of the backdrop for other deeper questions. However the art design of the newer Deus Ex games are pretty stellar, the art team knocked it out of the park, and the gameplay team also did a genuine effort to introduce new interesting dynamics.
“i picked the crossbow thinking this is the best option for stealth”
*Laughs in GEP gun*
You're adorable, as someone who loves this series I appreciate these.
I played Deus Ex Invisible War on release on PC and don't remember issues. It was way more on rails and definitely not on par with the first, but I still liked it.
We really need a second coming of old school game development
Invisible war was my first DE game I love it
That second soundtrack was just X-Men riddim lol
?? Malik is killed ? Didya just leave her without considering helping her ?
In human revolution. You said they dont take conspiracy theories seriously. I kind of disagree. I think the real breakdown of conspiracy theories that made the game way too real and messed with my head was in the computers. If you pay attention to the messages from the bottem to the top it exposes how suddle large conspiracy theories are. Its not about telling people to say something. But rather finding people who believe what you want them to say. Or are fine with saying anything
Considering the state Embracer Group is in, we will be glad if Eidos won´t get shut down. It´s quite insane over there. But if, by some miracle, we get continuation and maybe even conclusion of Adam Jensen´s story.. That day will be a wonderful day.
