N64 Perfect Dark PA in

- Опубліковано 27 кві 2011
- A tool-assisted speedrun of Perfect Dark at the hardest difficulty. The total ingame time for the levels is 25:20, but the video length is much longer, because in-game time doesn't count pauses, cutscenes and stuff like that. The time for the game file at the end is 29:20. If you wonder why the game is reseted sometimes after a level, it's because of a bug which sometimes causes it not to advance to the next level, unless you reset.

If a DarkSim played the campaign
Lol ikr
Christ this game was so ahead of its time, just look at it. This is the N64 version. Rare was on top of their game here.
To be fair, it did require the memory expansion pack.
I still play Perfect Dark and also have the Xbox Live Arcade version.
Goldeneye has aged horribly but this is still amazing after nearly 20 years.
Even Conker's Bad Fur Day had rudimentary bump mapping
"Cassandra: "You lose again, Joanna!"
Before she can even finish her phrase all her guards are dead.
Then she turns out the lights and laughs.
"joanna, we need you to infiltrate an evil corporation, fight hundreds of armed guards, save the president, fight an alien incursion, and many other nebulous tasks inbetween." Agent dark: "Bitch give me a half hour"
Mood
Jo: There's the antenna, but... I can't throw a bug that high!
Right hand: Hold my grenade!
4 People made accusations like that without evidence and ASHUMED that they had some.
rofl
14:09 There's the antenna, but I can't throw a bug that high!
*throws it that high*
hahahaha
"I can't throw a bug that high!"
it's actually not that hard to do without tools.
+2-T Fru-T ...And she did.
I love the idea that Elvis drops Joanna off on a hostile alien planet with a mission to kill its leader then begins an aerial bombardment of the area a little over one minute later.
Yeah it really doesn't make sense. The only real reason you need to be there is to designate some targets for the maians lol. I think it was more of a personal vendetta for Johanna to personally take out the skedar king and dance on his corpse as payback for their species almost destroying earth 😂
"We need to get back our old firiend"
No fucks given, just push him around.
I ASHOOM THAT YOU HAVE SOME.
NO-AB lmfao
YOU CANT. MAKE. ACCUSATIONS. LIKE. THAT. WITHOUT. EVIDENCE!
This game is the real deal! People talk a lot about Goldeneye, but this game is even better than that!
I mean, i certainly play this more than goldeneye cause i already mastered it, but this game came out like 3 years after goldeneye, and RARE used the same technology that they used for goldeneye, so it was just a natural improvement of the technology but i dont know if you can say that makes it better. Goldeneye was like RARE's mona lisa, Perfect Dark as a game was just trying to recreate the magic of Goldeneye.
It is, but many people are blinded by nostalgia to realize this fact. Yes Goldeneye was first, but Perfect Dark trumps the game in EVERY category and I can't see why people argue Goldeneye is better.
HarmonySword same here! This game is literally better in every single way in every category! It’s not even close in my opinion soooo many more of my childhood hours were spent with this with my brothers and friends! Way ahead of its time!
The only thing goldeneye has over perfect dark is the facility level, and both bunker missions. Those missions have a really nice stealthy flow to them. Yeah pd has some nice stealth levels too but it’s just not the same
@@BigAssNigga311 Actually it is if it can if one games does things better than another in that genere. Like you want facts? Let's play that game of yours. GE is based on a successful James Bond movie so of course by proxy the game will sell more due to the tie in and it exceeding expectations. PD only had one year before the Gamecube vs GE which had more time. Also PD does EVERYTHING better than GD. Weapon animations, having voice acting, better level design, etc. That is actual facts. People who love GE over PD are blinded by the fact that it is driven by nostalgia and it just so happens it is based on a good movie. And ignoring one is a huge improvement is the real delusional part.
Also I noticed it took you THREE years just to come back and respond to me after your initial comment? Like WTF took you so long?
Finally! A full tool assisted speedrun on Perfect Dark, I have been looking for this. Great job guys! :)
23:47 LOL
i lol'd
"so you got here at last" *ignores everyone being shot just now*
This is so perfect i just wish the cutscenes were left in so it coulda looked like a badass movie
14:10 "I can't throw a bug THAT high!" Believe.
Not only is this game timeless art, but so is this run.
Joanna became RoboCop on crack. All targets acquired one room prior and shot with .00001 second reaction time.
William Mills yes? You asked for me?
18:04
Comedy gold!
2 for 1
I like how Jo throws the gun shortly before she speaks with the man.
This game's music is MADE for TASes.
My gun!
26:06 For when the President is just too darn slow, push him all the way to the escape pod.
how the fuck is obama in a game from 2000
"Are you SURE this is the way to the escape pod?"
14:55 "please don't" SUPER PUNCH IN THE BALLS !!
"i'm...I'm dyyyying"
to get a headshot every time, i try to hit a headshot, if i miss, i load a state and try again, until i do. so there are thousands of mistakes in the making of a run like this, but they aren't visible in the final product.
If you think this is skill and not aimbot, then I’m Elon musk
@@te4bag_k1ngp1n exactly
@@te4bag_k1ngp1nit’s not aimbot. They used an emulator. And when they knew they were going to have to shoot, they would save state. And they would grind over and over reloading that safe state until that small piece of gameplay was perfected.
@@Trevor6714 you’re delusional sir.
John Wick sister right here.
She's got some sweet knockers. In fact, I'm going to the bathroom to *think* about them while I do my due diligence. 😵💫
I legitimately ejoy watching half-hour junk like this. It's nolstalgic and enteraining all at the same time.
I especially appreciate the nut punch on Area 51 Infiltration.
14:58 guard "please, dont" raising hands, and joanna ducks and nutpunches him lmao
Agent Dark is Kingsman, confirmed
I love how many guards actually spawn. Non-stop action.
The President is like fuck this shit I don't feel like walking.
pausing is done to skip speech so that you can get faster ingame time
"Hey, what's up?"
"Hi, hun." *punch*
"Plugh!"
Holy fucking shit, I was mouth-opened when he dropped all the way down and got in the elevator.
@luckey24 Explosions can take very little damage if you are a distance from them, so if you're very lucky you can survive many hits with very little health left.
Luck is not an issue in this run because this isn't played in real time on console, it's tool-assisted, done on emulator with slowdown and rerecords (allows me to undo every little mistake)
This is more amazing to watch it at 2x speed 💀
fucking savage as fuck the way she headshots fucking everybody! I love it!
On a TAS you generally play every individual frame. He says it's superior to an aimbot for this reason because he's not really playing with a controller as such; he can decide exactly where he wants to be looking, aiming, so forth on that frame. By this token however, that's why TASes take so much longer to complete than regular speed runs.
SUPER LEGEND DarkSim!
The intro to the second stage makes a lot of sense now.
@SypperMarippo I get you. You (Wyster) doing the first half, then 3iikka doing the last ?
Very stunned by both of your work. Extremely. Cheers !
20:02 was so funny how you took those two guys out like that.
10:48 "It's high noon... DRAW!"
18:14 is the most disrespectful thing i've ever seen and i love it. lmao bro was looking behind him with all his buddies dead and see some doctor get robbed like "huh-💥"
As a speed runner for perfect dark and 64 this is really fucking cool
I think N64 cartridges could only hold about 32MB at that time, so MP3s were better because WAV files are so big.
@D00MEDST most of it is done frame by frame. i used controller a little. mouse was not used to aim in the normal sense. i used mostly only the mouse though, no keyboard, because with the mouse and the input plugin i could set numerical values for the analog and the other buttons too. there's a special input plugin on the tasvideos website
7:30 I have never seen such reckless use of a rocket launcher
@deuxhero yes, i think you could a few minutes (ingame time) faster in co-op. wyster made a co-op TAS of the first level and it was 13 seconds faster than the one here.
Can we have the link?
It would be very funny if James Bond can defeat his enemies in his movies as quick as in the TAS x)
MFG
@goldenjimbo007 yeah, it's because if AF1 wouldn't be slower, then the previous level (air base) would inevitably have to be even slower, because you'd have to enter the plane on air base from a different place which would take time
I like to imagine that 10:47 - 10:50 is Joanna running to the locked door, sighing in exasperation, and then instantly headshotting the three invisible guards.
These are the same crazy guys with the not-too-long-ago GE007 speedrun..?
That's odd. V1.0 rom ?
Very much appreciated upload, 3iikka !!
@mistamontiel Thanks. Wyster did most of the levels. I did the last 5 levels, from Pelagic 2 and onward. V1.0 rom was used, but the reset problem exists with the 1.1 version too. It's confusing that I have so many different names online like nfq, I should settle for one, but I have a hard time coming up with a good name :P
25:55 - 26:15 One of my greatest laughs.
Why is he walking in a 45º angle?
Does it give him more speed?
Yes
18:00
Jo: *shoots several rounds from a dragon beside face, killing almost everyone in the room while a man lies dead and said gun is thrown to the ground*
Guard: "So, you got here at last! Everyone's been waiting for you" *opens door*
Artificial Stupidity right there people.
14:54 - Nut Punch.
Where there's smoke, there's a smell of it, too.
The animations for the weapons in this game are really cool? Anyone agree?
Yes and the shooting/reloading sound effects are beefy and bassy
I wanna be able to complete missions like this and get the cheats in record time
Hey, I have the same emulator problem as you, I always have to keep resetting because of that crash.
It took my family and myself maybe 7 or 8 years to beat this game and here it is done under an hour. We should feel ashamed of ourselves Q_Q
Id say about 25:00 if u didnt have to wait for each load
Very good TAS, sorry for the reset question i did not read the description :)
Ahh. nfq !! That's you !! VERY well done 3iikka !!
Its true, soon members of the datadyne corporation will be attaching them selves to your under belly for transportation.
Did I say "voices"? I meant audio data. Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and DK64 offered Dolby surround sound, which is kind of making the N64 games more top notch, so do speak. Say, how do they fit those lossy MP3s inside an N64 cartridge? Audio compression? WAV and FLAC are my favorite formats because they never lost sound quality. What I mean by that is "lossless". When I make a game, I'd use WAV. If you're wondering, I was referring to the important information on the startup screen.
32:00 Now you are wallhacking :o
It's strafing so yes, it does make you go faster, by alot
C left is strafe left, c right is strafe right. My mouth is WATERING right now. 🤤
Something about: Perfect Dark
I don't get why the TAS restarts to play some levels. Understandable for Carrington Institute, but not for certain others
"it's because of a bug [in the emulator] which sometimes causes it not to advance to the next level, unless you reset." (from the description)
+3iikka Okay, Thanks
No it's not. I'd say it should be!
This is such a great speedrun! :)
When it gets to the bottom simply close the door and the next stop in the lift is that one.
I looked away on the first stage and i didn't see it..
Mother of God
26:12 I actually completed this mission in 1:37 on XBLA. But I also used 2 adrenalins.
Is there no way you could have done this mission faster?
Isn't it because they have to start in the main hall rather than the cargo hold, otherwise Air Base would take another half a minute? (Air Force One is a lot faster if you start in the bottom of the plane.)
AM I READY?!?!?
When I'M ready, I pull my pants down, and kick 'em to the curve. 👍
17:33 - wouldn't it be faster going into the lab first? now you have to go a longer path back!
The guy who lets you in simply isn't there until you've completed the other objectives.
this game is so amazing.
@luckey24 No one can play like a TAS on N64, but this has been done in 57 minutes on N64 by Ryan Dwyer in one go. Individual level WRs add up to 33-34 minutes
That's for the video. TAS are really cool, love PD.
Prove it. Upload a video of yourself taking care of your trophy while looking at Joanna's hoots
oh yeah, that's true... but i don't think it saved any time getting elvis in the same lift, i just did it for fun. i think he just waited there until the other lift had arrived, and then started running
Is it possible to save time via co-op?
Don't worry about it.
This is basically John Wick
30:00 “That sounded like” ..umm that sounded like a triple kill sir.
@jugadorj3 yeah, heh. i had never understood what they said actually. i thought it sounded like "wake up, it's too high!".
I wonder if someone is this skilled with this reflexes, it's just too insane to even achieve 90% accu while speedruning, without mentioning almost all are headshoots
G E E
Fucking amazing!
Tool Assist makes the game playable in very slown motion, that way you can aim and shoot way before the enemies react. So its no Aimbot
Yes, Elvis got in the same lift of you. The normal thing is to be you in a lift and him in the other. Well, maybe I'm wrong, don't know. There has passed a lot of time since my last Attack Ship...
@holiciomes i don't think the rom has anything to do with it. it's just that the emulator doesn't emulate the game properly. hopefully if there's a better N64 TASing emulator in the future it will fix this problem
what emulator and plugins do you use on this? I tried several emulators but none can't even get close of this (in graphics quality I mean). Great job on speedrun BTW. thanks
@3iikka Haha. By the way, that video URL doesn't exist ! It just redirects to home for me
Epic LOL in air force one
i don't really know. that part was done by henrik (SypperMarippo on youtube). i would think it's luck manipulation.
The long loading times are very unnecessary
I.... I can't believe the ridiculous accuracy. I'm seriously struggling to not be skeptical.
You know the game when ....
