Ported Stihl 461 with a 32" light bar and a good 3/4 ton truck. What more does a fella need??

    Now that the 500i is out the 461 doesn't get enough love. It's a great saw even when not ported its a workhorse. Good stuff Tinman. Long bars save lives!!

    • @hisWACness
      @hisWACness 3 роки тому +2

      Honestly, I think the 500i is overrated; and the 462 is underrated. Looking at the dyno tests a guy over on OPE did, the 462 is nipping at the heals of the 500i, and the 462 has a wider power band and stays in peak power longer than the 500i. Just my $.02 I have a 461 and love it, but have thought hard about getting a 462 instead due to the weight and autotune (err, whatever Stihl calls it).

      @@hisWACness Dyno tests aside, a stock for stock 500 vs 462 and longer bars like 32 and 36. The 500 pulls them better imo

      @@hisWACness The 462 is a great saw. I just prefer to do my own tuning, I guess am just oldschool.

      @@4570levergun Oh, I get it. I'm a carb guy too, but I was very impressed with the autotune on the MS241 I had (miss that little ripper), so the 462 is appealing to me. That said, I ain't giving up my 461 ;)

    • @hisWACness
      @hisWACness 3 роки тому +3

      @@RI-td3gv I get it, but in the side-by-side videos I've seen, the 462 is right there (and in some like Buckin's one video, the 462 beat the 500i). Now, he was running long bars but cutting smaller rounds, so not a fair test if we're talking pulling long bars through big wood. I'd guess the 500i would beat it then. I wouldn't kick either of them out of my pickup ;)

    Completely agree with the long bar. On my lot, one of my favorite tools is the pole saw. Keeps me at a safe distance for limbing down a tangle to big wood where I can then put the big saw to work.

    So puts a shopvac on the top of the rad and put a vacuum on the coolant system. When you pull the sensor out nothing will leak. Works the same on oil drain plugs

    I have a 461. Haven’t tweaked it at all I did have to remove those stupid plastic limiters from the carb adjustment screws. Saw would not idle. It idles fine now. Came with a 25” Stihl Rollomatic bar. I put a 20” on there cause I have about 25 chains of that size in my rotation. I’ll probably get a 32” lightweight bar here soon cause I have some huge trees to fall. Any opinions on lightweights? I have had a Sugi Hara 32” on a big Solo saw. Stihl? Total? Open to suggestions here.

    o machado e a motosserra tiveram uma discussão
    motosserra diz que é orgulho da evolução
    machado pra mim já era pois vem do tempo de adão
    você agora só serve pra fazer calo na mão motosserra dá um ronco relou o dente no tronco já se vê o pau no chão
    a serra chamou o machado pra fazer uma porfia
    machado aceitou na hora e quando chegou o dia
    entraram junto no mato pra mostrar a serventia
    a motosserra roncava machado velho tinia
    e naquele matagal foi só cavaco de pau pó de serra que subia
    e esse grande duelo deste jeito é que termina
    na briga das ferramentas o machado é que domina
    motosserra parou cedo ali no tronco da quina
    machado seguiu cortando mata grossa e mata fina
    motosserra impotente rebentou sua corrente acabou a gasolina
    que isto sirva de exemplo para toda humanidade
    e você que é tão jovem tem que saber a verdade
