Hello was going to just mention the baby inhaling that dander from chickens the good thing is you don’t have a ton of chickens in a small area I was raised on a farm in Alabama I am 65 and a nurse once Sadie 2?or 3 just getting eggs no big deal it when u rake and clean . Take care you are wonderful loving people! And I don’t want to harp but chickens do have the ability to pass on lung issues.

Also why so many DIY fireplace/BBQs explode every year. Some believe a brick is a brick is a brick and mortar is mortar is cement until they use a concrete block to make an oven and that water trapped in pockets turns to steam and does what it must to escape. I keep learning things the hard way. I hope your build goes smoothly.

I commented on languages before but will do it again.
I’m a Swede living I Guatemala. When my wife got pregnant with our son I did research how to teach him more than one languages. A Japanese study I read argued that a child can learn up to 7 languages at the same time.
A swift review showed that we had 4 languages in the family.
    Short version…
I only speak Swedish with him. My in-laws only speaks German with him, his mother only English, the rest addresses him in Spanish.
No lessons ever made, only daily verbal talks & communication.
Today he’s 10 and he’s fluent in all 4 languages. He’s 10 years old and he is multilingual. As a parent this has been an amazing experience.
Please, you two only talks to Sadie in English. Everyone else only address her in Spanish, and she will become bilingual within 2-3 years. I beg you, please do it and all involved - be consistent! Meaning, if she address you in the wrong language you just don’t understand what she’s saying. Be consistent, and she will be in bilingual by nature. ❤️

That pizza oven will be wonderful! Especially in the already hot summer when you don't want to make the inside of your house even hotter with cooking.
I'm sure you'll find other things you can cook in it! LoL
When will all of you start spending a few days a week helping Rodrigo on his house? That's a lot of house for just one person!
I'd like to see him having lots of help getting the skeleton of that house up.
Maybe then he could do more by himself.
I just don't see him being able to get those huge pieces up himself.
Maybe I've missed something and there's an issue I'm not aware of and I'll go back and watch more of his videos since you've all been back.
    I hope things are well.

This is Panama and regulations are different from America. I see nothing wrong with what they are doing and if you know your brick they ARE using the right type of bricks. If you bothered to look past your own judgements and actually watch what they are showing you wouldn't ask questions that are already answered. They have builders who help them when needed. They are young and yes sometimes don't do things they way I would do it but it still gets done. Give them a chance to grow and j so it will always be attached to the shed. I am sure everyone living on the farm will have access to this as well as everything else that is on the communal grounds IE..the chicken eggs, garden, and goat milk and it will be used for many years to come. I would have loved to have had the opportunity that these two have given to others living on their farm. I am so honored to have been along on their ride so far and look forward to many more of their experiences in the future.

Not sure if anyone already provided the advice. When you do any cement work on dried cemwnt work, always wet it first. It helps it stick and bond better. Like when you did the stone cladding around the workshop, wet the dry wall first then apply the new cement. Same whwn you layed the blocks for the pizza oven. Keep going you guys are doing amazing.

Throw the mortar down in rows . Then as you sit the block down you can easily level it and the mortar has someplace to push out to . And remember there is a top and a bottom of a block , the skinny web side with little line in web goes down . Cool trip to the city and congrats on permanent

You will need fire brick for the oven and refractory mortar lay them, and to use as plaster you can use 2 parts clay 2parts sand and one part cement

The aroma of a wood fired oven with food in it is amazing. No problems at all with bad odors or heavy smoke in the workshop. Exhaust gasses very hot. Jet quite a way into the air. You will see in time...

Have you looked at a water condensor or other bush techniques to get fresh drinking water. I am seeing a lot of people storing water under their houses in water bladders. Anything so you can capture more of the water in wet season to help in the dry. As your farm takes off you will need a reliable water source. Talking of water I see a lot of people isntalling water turbines to generate power from the rain.

If it is an oven to cook pizza, I suppose you can use it as an oven, good for roasted chickens, roasted pumpkins, delicious, cames, bread, beef roasts., etc., etc., etc., . It will be a wonderful thing to have in the home. Best wishes from Chile.

Why did you use up space on your small porch area? Could you have built it outside the porch wall so that the working/cooking surface is at the top of the retaining wall? That would preserve the porch for sitting, dancing, etc.

It was funny that you said Sadie hadn’t had a nap and in the beginning of the video she was sleeping while Jordan was walking around with her. Just a word of advice when laying block you should use the trowel to put mortar on the edges and backside before laying them, make sure it’s heat resistant as well

  • @dmj1170
    @dmj1170 2 роки тому +1

FYI you guys always spray water onto the concrete when you apply mortar to it. The concrete pad will always draw the water out of the mortar. This step helps ensure the mortar bonds well before it dries out

I have mentioned this to you in the past a few times but you have not changed your process yet. When you use cement, the surfaces that the cement is touching should be wet. Otherwise the bricks and the ground will suck out the moisture from the new cement and your blocks won’t stick for long. I e said the same thing about the facade that you added to the bottom of your house. Good luck.
P.S. you can dunk each block into a bucket of water before cementing them.
