interesting watch, like yourself i started as a trout fisherman as brown and sea trout were the main targets hereabouts. this was in the early '70's, in around 1975 i discovered the chub in the river, i was 14 at the time and in those days the river was a prolific chub river, scottish borders, i went after the chub, even in the winter, locals thought i was mad, "why are you fishing for skellies for" diddent eat fish so i diddent care, in the winter i used similar tactics to what you are doing here the only differences was i used a spinning rod, its all i had, and i mixed cheese with the bread and on the hook its was like a paste, the idea was that the cheese was more smelly and as the chub has a good sense of smell, it worked very well. i used to keep a record of the chub i caught over 3lb, looking back i caught 97 chub and 6 of those were over 5lb, best one 5lb10oz in 1978. the 97 chub were all caught between 1975 and 82, it dosent sound a lot by todays standards, but seemed so at the time. unfortunetly after that the river suffered some setbacks and now you will be lucky to see a chub alive in there, a great shame
Thank you Chappy and James for such a great video, shades of Wilson on the Wensum! It really was a bonus having two films in one. Firstly James showing the roving approach for some beautiful chub and then "The adventures of Monty". You were so lucky James the old boy didn't nudge you in! Keep 'em comin'
I am not only a keen follower of your vids and an avid river angler but....also a dog trainer and canine behaviourist. Monty just cracks me up and today was a star. Keep it up Mr Robins. When we were in Zimbabwe, the dogs always got the small ones.
Great video on a lovely piece of river, very like the Swale up here in North Yorks. Proving that quality fishing not all pellets and method feeders. A couple loafs and travel light. Real fishing (and a camera man is a extra)
Great video again fellas, just don't stop taking Monty he has me in fits, but then I am a Lab man too, strangely enough though I feed mine on Chum not bread & fish lol.
Superb. My favourite sort of fishing and Mr. Chub is always ready for some grub in the winter. My local stretch of the Gt. Ouse is very much like this. Top filming all three of you.
@@cadencefishinguk My stretch is the St.Ives AS one, not the 'above Bedford' Barbel one on which I've drawn many a blank! Love to see you over here though!
Beautiful fishing session, travelling light, love the rod action too ! Can't find the brand here in France , or am I not looking for it properly ? Would love to buy an 11ft soft action, can anybody help ?
Great video thanks. How long do you run the main line past the feeder? Just thinking of a lighter line straight from the paternoster would cause tangles ? Many thanks
Darren Bergman Hi Darren, I use a length of mainline below the paternoster, normally at least 1-2 ft. Then add the hooklength. The thicker line keeps it away from the feeder and helps prevent tangles. Cheers James

Nice vid, but I have no Confidence in vids anymore, ever since I came a cross a ccordened off stretch of river, to be fair where I come from my first thought was that they had found a body, but know, it was inaccessible because it had been pre baited for a week or more so that mat Hayes could make a video.
Fishing videos at the highest level.....can’t get any better than this....thanks for giving all us anglers 39 minutes of superb viewing......
Kind words Phil. Thanks. Chappy
Don't forget those 14 secs too😋😉
Simply fantastic, had everything, hints, tips, tackle, fish, wildlife, scenery and humour with monty Great stuff.

Lovely video James and looks like Monty enjoyed his day out with you and Chappy! Tight Lines Steve Amison

Cracking vid. Love the Warwickshire Avon. 👍🎣
Top video James well done
Travel light.....with a great big bait bucket and seat box. !! Small back packs with a folding seat in do the job. Lovely video though
Rob Shaw Hi Rob, Trudy me that’s travelling light for us match anglers!
Great stuff...as always. Looks like you had a good day out. Its gotten me dying to get out on the Dane, myself
Quality video. Monty looking for drop-backs @ 15:15?

@@Andrewausfa will look into it. A place very unfamiliar to us, only done one magazine feature on it in 25 years!!
I think i found my new favorite fishing show :D
Try under the new bridge for mix bag fish with pole or for pike also under the bridge between leamington and warwick!!!!!(my old spot)Good luck James.
James. What make is that seat box your using, look ideal for roving
Great vidio as always
Travel light with the ASI 😂
Proper fishing tho. Great video
Just a prop really Edward. Quite light just the seat bit actually..
Great !! , something different. Fish a river 10 mins walk from home in the summer bags of roach , hybrids and the odd gonk.
Great vid!
Great video James, but surely its a cs6 4000 reel and not a cs7, but don't worry mate, it doesn't detract from a great vid
'Fess up, Chappy - how often did he clip you with that landing net handle?
Can't say as he did.... we're a well oiled machine...know each others moves lol
Yeah, well-oiled, I'll give you that :-)

We are web based only. www.cadencefishing.co.uk. shipping to France is no problem.
Monty 😍😍
Isn't it time to get Monty his own rod?

Where exactly is this stretch? Is it a free stretch or club?
Thanks
It's a private stretch belonging to a friend of James.
Another great video James, are you at Barford?
Can't be barford flowing right to left.
