all my comments being deleted by YouBoob, that is too weird
@@DrWrapperband He does that. Not really a nice guy.
@@oppothumbs1 I don't delete comments... sometimes I have to approve comments before they go public because UA-cam holds them... Sometimes MY comments don't appear either............... thanks.
@@LarryGravesCanadianStudmuffin Sure, I see.
Larry - "I dont think the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame likes Metal too much."
Me - "I don't think the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame likes Rock n' Roll too much... 😕"
It's a bloody disgrace that Joe cocker isn't in the rock nroll hall of fame.
I gotta say the fact that Randy Bachman isn't in with either the Guess Who or BTO is pretty damn bad as well
E.L.P. , Blue Oyster Cult, Jethro Tull, and my favorite Rory Gallagher all deserve to be in.
Greetings Larry , I hope that you had a great birthday . Like your good self I am a big fan of Blue Oyster Cult , I have their entire catalogue , well almost . They are soon to release a new album called ,Ghost stories , and have released a video called , So supernatural with ,Joe Bouchard on vocals . Richie Castellano talks about it on his you tube channel ( AKA Band Geeks ) .
I could cross off about half of those that this guy just threw in there, but the most glaring omissions are..
The Guess Who
Thin Lizzy
Smashing Pumpkins
Jethro Tull
Devo
Joe Cocker
Styx
Kansas
America
Iron Maiden
Soundgarden
Alice In Chains
The B-52's
Rainbow
Grand Funk Railroad
Three Dog Night
The Monkees
Bad Company
Supertramp
Scorpions
Motley Crue
Blue Oyster Cult
___(Not Mentioned):
The Runaways
Jim Croce
John Denver
Wishbone Ash
Buzzcocks
X
The Damned
Peter, Paul, and Mary
The Commodores
Ohio Players
Gram Parsons
Alison Krause & Union Station
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Return To Forever
Wilco
Cyndi Lauper
Joy Division/New Order
And there are many others but, the so-called Rock Hall Corporate entity is more concerned about having every genre represented, rather than the artists that are truly worthy..
Yep! Jethro Tull & the Guess Who should definitely be there. 😎
Blood, Sweat & Tears, The Commodores, Jim Croce and Harry Chapin should all be in the Rock Hall.
As a big INXS fan, it’s kind of insulting they are not in the rock and roll hall of fame
Surprisingly, Sparks aren't in there! Eligible since 1997.
Should EVERYBODY be in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame? I personally feel that people and groups that had the most influence or made the most out of R n' R should at least be in first. From this list and not, the first people that come to mind are the New York Dolls, Jethro Tull, Slade, Crimson and the Smiths. Having said that, the whole idea of the R n' R Hall of Fame is absurd and at this point, utterly illegitimate. The idea of changing it to the "Music Hall of Fame" will erase Rock n' Roll. No one will go in....
Kansas...but I'm partial 😊
I quite like that some of these great bands mentioned aren't in the so called 'hall of fame', an institution which is quite the opposite of what 'rock and roll' is meant to be
Joy Division ➗️ / New Order , King Crimson , Love & Siouxsie & The Banshees all belong in as do quirky Devo & B-52's. Oasis 🇬🇧 are getting my vote this year.
A few not mentioned: Neil Sedaka, Johnny Rivers, The Beau Brummels, Paul Revere and The Raiders,The Turtles, Micheal Nesmith, Bread, John Denver, Jim Croce, Olivia Newton-John, The Carpenters, Rory Gallagher, The Sweet, Bob Welch (as a member of Fleetwood Mac), XTC, Madness. If Weird Al deserves induction (and he does) then so do Cheech & Chong, The Rutles and Spinal Tap.
On a side note ,it took FOREVER for The Moody Blues and Cat Stevens to get in .
I don't understand why anyone would give the RRHOF a single thought other than to ponder over the fact that it's the very antithesis of rock n' roll.
The reason so many of these artists are not in the RRHOF Larry is because there are so many artists that don't do rock and roll that are,it's that simple, the RRHOF is a total farce! Bob
❤
The band "Survivor" barely got noticed by Canadian Studmuffin here. The channel Taste Like Music did something similar recently and Jason there said something like "They can't bring in all the 1980's AOR-bands". Perhaps you are right. The band might not be very influential for a thing like Rock And Roll Hall of Fame but after discovering them beyond the few hits they actually have some solid albums. Their 1984 effort "Vital Signs" is as 1980's, in a good way, you can get. Put that on a summer night and enjoy!
They also have different era's so if you don't care for a particular album. Another one might be more appreciated. I own five albums by them and four of them I happily return to. The fifth one is a bit weaker.
We all know by now the RRHOF lost its integrity many years ago. Every year the list of nominees gets more and more confounding. Certainly there is no shortage of rock and roll acts of the past that are deserving of consideration yet the RRHOF continues to nominate and induct non-rock and roll artists. They keep insisting that all these acts have some kind of connection to rock and roll music but that is easily challenged. For example how does Joan Baez factor into rock music? The very person who admitted she was never a big fan of rock and roll? Dolly Parton has no rock music pedigree and is as country music as anyone can be yet the RRHOF wanted to put her into the hall because they thought it had a cool factor. She politely declined the opportunity because she knew she wasn't deserving of such an honor yet the RRHOF insisted she go in against her will. What does that tell you? There is no other hall of fame organization in existence that is as vilified worldwide as the RRHOF. It's a shame. What started out as a promising venture eventually turned into a trainwreck.
About 50 of those groups/artists shown should be in the R&R Hall of Fame and about 50 non-rock artists who are already in, should not be.
The Guess Who, Jethro Tull,Joe Cocker,Badfinger, Boston,Is Leon Russell in? If not he definitely should be . Derek and the Domino's, Emerson Lake and Palmer,Grand Funk Railroad,Harry Nielsen, Robert Plant,Steppenwolf,.....but c'mon ..Tull, Cocker, The Guess who,Derek and the Domino's,.Boston, for sure.
The problem with any music-based hall of fame is that even with specified criteria, the inductions are almost always based on subjective curating (unlike, say, sports halls of fame where inductions are based on stats).
Also, the RRHoF is very skewed towards American acts. UK acts are included if they had commercial and critical success in the States. Non-English speaking artists are ignored, regardless of how critically/commercially successful they were/are overseas or in their home countries. America (well, Black America, anyway) may have invented rock n roll, but others all over the world put their own unique stamp on it.
First off, Sparks should be in the RnRHoF. Yes, indeed TOOL should be in there! ❤🎼😊👍
Who the hell makes these decisions, can he be impeached? I hope!
Wow!😮
wow jethro tull the biggest omission along with king crimson
Why isn't John Denver, Lionel Hampton, The Captain and Tennill or Liberace in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
for that matter Gene Krupa!
Rock and Roll isn't and shouldn't be about demographics. Rock and Roll is a way of life. I'll take XTC over the 'you know whos'.
@@Thomasgene Yes, because Gene Krupa influenced rock drummers. Quite a few have said that. He should be in the Early Influence category. No brainer.
Exactly. A great drummer who was a lot more rock and roll than some of these recent inductees.
The individual members of Toto should be in as studio musicians.
Rock and Roll !!
🛸 strangers in the night
Pondering the stupidity of the R&R H of F and Rolling Stone Magazine gives me a headache...
Captain Beefheart !!!
Hang on Sloopy, not Snoopy.
I don't understand why so many people want to object about who is not in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame instead of rejoicing and praising the Hall about artists they like who are in the Hall. The musical world's awards systems will never be exactly how we like them to be. I think our blood pressure will be in better shape if we spend our complaining time focusing on positivity instead and promoting who we like in our own ways. I like supporting artists I think are underrated by giving albums of them to some other people I think may like them. I think more important than acting like it matters so much who is and is not in the R&RHOF is promoting online accuracy and kindness about musicians...and about other types of people.
Perhaps it isn't that they're deserving or not, perhaps they have a 5 or 10 yr plan to enshrine the obvious in increments rather than all at once.
ELP! Brian Adams! Joe Cocker! Warren Zevon! REO Speedwagen! Etc. Others! Me thinks their priorities are slightly askew. Thanks!🙂😎
Carol Kaye
Jethro Tull
Warren Zevon
Gram Parsons
Should all be in and i cant imagine push back on either
Personally i would like to see
Captain Beefheart
Television
MC5
Sonic Youth
I agree No Iggy Pop, no Grand Funk, No 3 Dog Night, No Hall of Fame! what a bunch of jerks! URAHOOT buddy! The hall operates on the theory of "Dog bites man no story, man bites dog hey we got a story!" Let's face it t's a money making corerate crap shoot!
Did I miss Cliff Richard and The Shadows? Both of them should have been inducted along with The Beatles, Beach Boys, and Stones, because they helped start the entire British Invasion! Cliff has outsold every single artist around the word with the exception of Elvis and Elton John. The Shadows are the greatest instrumental group in rock history, and their guitar/guitar/bass/drums setup became the template for 90% of all bands. Shadows Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch influenced so many guitarists, including George Harrison, Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler, Pete Townshend -- pretty much every guitar god of the period. Between Cliff and The Shadows, they had dozens of Number One songs and popular albums. Oh, and Cliff is the only artist in history to have a Top Five album in the charts for EIGHT CONSECUTIVE DECADES. So before your favorite hair metal or punk bands get in there, how about these true originals who helped create this thing called rock 'n' roll?
Hi Larry some of those bands are kind of obscure and you can't put everyone in but a lot of them were huge. Johnny Winter and Edgar Winter were usually separate artists from each other and occasionally would collaborate with each other. They should be in the hall of fame separately.
The smiths Jethro Tull ELP Styx never been nominated.
I went last year at the Barclays. It's a joke, most of the bands don't even show up or come with one or 2 members. RAGE got in and not enough of them showed up so they couldn't perform.
wow, my Rock and Roll ! comment was deleted by YouBoob!
I hate when YouBoob does that!
.....FAIR bunch omitted IN that SIZABLE list, Larry - for STARTERS, your ESTEEMED countryman Gordon Lightfoot (comparable to DYLAN - as Bob HIMSELF would concede) Dan Fogelberg (at LEAST the equal of his inducted friend Jackson Browne) BOTH John Denver & Olivia Newton-John, Big Star, [The] Sweet, Suzi Quatro [GLARING slight] The Runaways, Tears For Fears, The Turtles; Blood, Sweat & Tears; Tommy James [& The Shondells], Grass Roots, Paul Revere & The Raiders, K.C. & The Sunshine Band, Commodores, 5th Dimension, Chairmen of The Board, Bread, Boz Scaggs, Gerry Rafferty, Leo Sayer, Al Stewart, 10cc, Alan Parsons Project, XTC, Split Enz and / or Crowded House, The Smiths, MUSE, Seal and, AS you NOTED, Sparks - oh YEAH, April Wine TOO (I'd EVEN argue Triumph - but, almost CERTAIN they'd never get a SNIFF, unfortunately - Lighthouse, SAME.....)
They just need to change it to the Music Hall of Fame, then they add the non rock into and people will be okay with that. I personally think its criminal that people like Jethro Tull, Foreginer, and Eddie Money among others are not in the Rock Hall.. Terrible... but there is always Missy Elliot. Smh. Seriously.
Sparks should have been inducted years ago, they are way better than most of the bands that are in it.
Steppenwolf, uriah heep, nazareth, thin lizzy, ufo my top 5 left out
I got as far as" He sold alot of records...isn't that what the RNRHOF is about?".If that's where your criteria starts then you are way lost as to what RnR really is. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO W RECORD SALES. There w never be another decade like the 60's where commercial music just happened to be the most relevant, groundbreaking, dangerous, music that just straight up ROCKED by real bands that played it the way REAL RNR should be played LIVE AND LOUD. Here is some criteria ...a real band tours n plays live, a real good band plays live and puts on a show and entertains...A great band does all that while pouring their guts n heart out onstage and make faces that look like they are getting stabbed when they solo...they sweat and spit and OD once in a while. That is real rock n roll. And if your drummer can't swing like Charlie then it's just Rock.
It seems to be what the RARHOF is about, I am not saying it should be... Just crazy that Joan Jett is in the hall but The Guess Who, King Crimson and Three Dog Night aren't...
it is neither desirable nor an honour to be in the R&R hall of fame...
Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone magazine is a big reason those hard rock bands aren't in the Hall. He always had issues with groups like Led Zeppelin and Steppenwolf, but fear of fan backlash got Zeppelin in. Cocker should have been in eons ago. I like Blackfoot and Molly Hatchet a lot, but they probably don't belong. Asia either, because they had that one huge album and faded pretty quickly.
king crimson and Tull should have been in first 10 wtf!
I WAS in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame... as a visitor. I would like to see Bryan Adam enshrined in the Hall, even though I am not a fan.
It is strange that he is not in there yet and I am not a fan either... but he certainly sold enough records.
Neil Young and CRAZY HORSE
Rock Hall is a joke. They induct a ton of artists that are not in the rock genre. They are all about popular music and putting on a tv show. They have no respect for rock music. I love Tribe Called Quest and Dolly Parton, but they are not rock artists.
The Country Hall of Fame doesn’t put Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin in their hall of fame, because those artists, amazing as they are, are not country. They aren’t even going to consider the Eagles. And that’s how it should be
Can't put in every group Clapton made an album with.
Not everybody should be in the. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It should be for the creme de la creme of talent. Why the hell is Foreigner nominated? For a bunch of hit songs? Where's the influence? When did Jon Bo n Jovi, Roger Daltry and Pete Townshend have solo careers? Sting has had a magnificent solo career yet no one mentions him. I love America but no. Ditto Grand Funk Railroad. I was a fan and they were the first concert I went to but where was the influence? They are a basic band. Nothing special compared to others. Jethro Tull is the real shocker. So is Emerson Lake and Palmer. I don't have a problem with Dolly Parton or Willy Nelson being in. That whole thing about not wanting anybody but rock artists in left the barn a long time ago. But Joe Cocker not being in makes no sense.
Little feat for gods sake.
I mean, it's always good for artists to get recognition for their work, but in regard to being a hall of fame for Rock n Roll it is meaningless. Dolly Parton was a ridiculous choice. But I think anymore it's just the idea of getting interest and money from people interested in other musical genres.
Larry you know who they didn’t mention that should be in Jefferson starship. Airplane is in but Jefferson starship aren’t.
@@Spo-Dee-O-Dee Jefferson starship sold millions of records thanks to grace slick and Marty balin, than grace slick & Mickey Thomas. The guitar work of Craig chaquico, the bass work of Dave freiberg & Pete Sears, the rhythm guitar work of Paul kanter & Pete Sears, the keyboard work of Pete Sears, Paul kanter & Dave freiberg, & the drumming of Jonny barbata, than aynsley dunbar, & Donny baldwin.
@@giotrapani7852 : there is NOBODY who ever sounded like Marty; he gave those songs a true MAGIC, sensuality.....yes, an absolute NO-BRAINER for them to be inducted!
@@ogam5 I think Mickey should be inducted with them not just Marty.
@@giotrapani7852: RIGHT there WITH you, sir - if ONLY for "Fooled Around And Fell In Love" (which I do LOVE singing at karaoke myself.....)
@@ogam5 I’d induct him for Jane, find your way back, winds of change, be my lady & no way out.
Heres the deal , the RRHOF , is a joke , is irrelevant , and is run by an elitist cabal of fruits .
Glad that Free are not in there. Can’t see Paul Rodger’s being bothered about that.
Ted nugent is a great example of an artist that should be in the rock and roll hall of fame in my opinion I realize his political views make things difficult how ever his music is influential
I agree totally.
Several 80's bands have credited Ted with influencing them in their youth. He has been eligible since 2000 as his first solo album came out in '75. But Jaan Brenner is strongly against Ted's hunting lifestyle and his constant promotion of that lifestyle, and he publicly banned Ted starting in the 90's from any mention in the Rolling Stone magazine, so obviously that carries over to Jaan's major involvement with the Hall of Fame. Politics, politics.
How about XTC!!!!
Blue Oyster Cult
Rolling Stone didnt like Led Zeppelin
RRHOF seems dumb DIO is biggest slap three bands and nothing
The rock hall is a joke, when they put dumbed down rao crap in there i was done
