as a younger person (gen z) i thought this list was kinda dumb honestly, and i think that just comes from it being so hard to make a top 100 album list out of all albums ever. it should've been divided into genres or something for more organisation. also, it missed actually good recent albums and it also missed a lot of older classics as well, showing that it definitely needed more input. that being said, i'm glad bjork and burial made it, but i also think that there needed to be underground rap (like bladee and yung lean, maybe even lil b or spaceghostpurrp), electronic (such as a lot of the older UK scene and the netherlands as well, along with ambient, drone, and digital hardcore) and also needed wayyy more metal (jeromes dream, iwrotehaikusaboutcannabalisminyouryearbook, devourment, etc). giving one genre 1 album in the top 100 while giving others 10-15 is unfair in my opinion. i love more obscure music, so i think that it's BS that most of these were pretty mainstream albums, which was probably to ensure that people wouldn't just ignore the list. but it could've introduced a lot of people to music outside of their comfort zone as well. still, there's a lot of albums and a limited amount of space, they just could've done better in my opinion. lots of room for improvement. however, i still understand that it's harder to find more obscure gems sometimes. anyway, good video. subscribed

Because although they're more culturally obscure in comparison, McCartney's Ram or Chaos and Creation on quality alone belong in the top tier of this list, and so does the Stones' Aftermath UK version

Is this list based on downloads and streaming, and age groups? In fact I am surprised that Taylor Swift isn't dominating at least half of the top ten. Wouldn't have put Lauryn Hill at No 1, and only one Bowie album., no Let's Dance, Aladdin Sane or Scary Monsters. That was one very unusual 100 best albums list this side of Rolling Stone magazine. Coltrane's A Love Supreme is a masterpiece, but it is intense and geared toward the hardcore jazz listener. Miles' A Kind of Blue same, though a little more non-jazz-aficionado-friendly. Liked NIN a lot back in the day. Glad to see Revolver and Abbey Road, at least. This list is geared seemingly more toward Millennials, and that's fine. I have plenty of catching up to do with classic rock from the 1970s as it is.

The one thing that irks me whenever people comment on such lists, is that often times people focus on the negatives rather than anything else. I mean, none of these selections are ultimately that surprising (given what we have seen from other such lists), so it would be more interesting if people were to spend less time criticising the lists. For example, i do appreciate how they have limited the number of entries per artist, such that we get to see more artists on the list (as opposed to just giving 7 entries to beatles, 5 for dylan, 5 for bowie, etc). Having said that, i do hope one day that someone gets the newer selections right, i.e. there is way more to modern music beyond just taylor swifts and beyonces.
Music is so subjective. This is a young people's list. They view our favorites as history (I guess they are now). But I will fill in these personal favorites that seem to be gaps for you: Burial is great psychill, mellow and mind-absorbing. Nina Simone was the original chanteuse of great political import. Nine Inch Nails, perfect music to commit crimes by. Kraftwerk's TEE is their best sonic album. Portishead's Dummy is very good, vibey. I agree, Oasis had a few good tunes. Bob Marley's greatest hits is all you need. Bjork's Post is a tour de force, every song so well done. Carole King's Tapestry is her best elpee, by far. And, as time goes by, fewer and fewer of our favorites will make the YPL, so we make our own lists to leave behind for the young historians.

My reaction to this list is ZZZZzzzzzz(snoring sounds) Its not your fault music Larry , but the rejection of classic rock by younger generations is a drag. Most of these records will be forgotten 10 years from now. Though I hope not the 60's and 70's stuff.
How do you possibly make a comprehensive list of the greatest albums of all time? There’s way too many genres to narrow it down to only 100 albums. How’re you possibly going to give rock, pop, jazz, blues, hip-hop, metal, country, folk and whatever other genres fair representation? This is why lists like these always irk me.
As I expected I didn't know a significant percentage of them. Those that I do know belong on the list. I like the Lauryn Hill album and I can see it in the list of 100 but nowhere near #1.
Some crazy omissions here. Sgt Pepper has to be in there somewhere as does animals by pink floyd. Grace by Jeff Buckley needs to be in there. My bias is creeping in here but I’d even make space to get Origin of Symmetry by Muse in somewhere. Maybe ram by McCartney and band on the run too. Abbey Road simply has to be no1.
Let's be honest no one agrees with this list except for the corporate zombies who made it. It’s a mashup of legacy “all time great album” picks, 21st century albums with massive acclaim, and extremely popular albums from the last fifteen years. It’s possibly the most boring list I’ve seen of this sort, beating out the original boomer-worshiping Rolling Stone top 500 (their newer one is pretty interesting). I can’t see a single album which I’d consider an interesting choice . one of the biggest problems with the list is recency bias, along with an abundance of pop, hip-hop, and r&b, and a lack of metal, jazz, country, prog, shoegaze, post-punk, new wave, and literally anything that’s not mainstream. i’m not expecting them to put a bunch of underground stuff no one’s ever heard of, but when there’s one metal album (and paranoid is nowhere to be found) and one country and two jazz albums, it’s pretty unfair representation. But seriously it was a fun list from Apple. Few eye-popping choices but that's what you want from this stuff. Surprises.

I have that number one album. It is good but would not be my number one. I can see the list is aiming toward diversity (ie not fill it too much with white rock acts). A lot of these lists tend to be subjective. There is no right answer. It all comes down to taste.
I’m 17 so I do enjoy many of these artist but for me nothing beats the 60s/70s artists, Lauryn hill and Micheal Jackson better then the Beatles sorry NO.
This list is out to lunch. Wasted 20 minuets watching it. I mean I am a Canadian and Rush didn't make the list. Neil Young didn't make the list. Leonard Cohen didn't make the list. The Band didn't make the list but Drake , who can't sing to save himself, made the list.
Any album from the last 20 years should automatically be disqualified for these lists. To be considered among the greatest albums you have to stand the test of time. For most of these contemporary albums it is too early for such lists.
Yeah it’s objectively impossible to please everyone and give all the genres out there it’s proper representation, but man a lot of these albums should NOT be here 😂
I’m ok with this. I have some of the albums listed in the top 100 but it’s not necessarily a reflection on my overall taste in music. I’m just sick of people referencing albums that are almost 60 years old as still relevant, vibrant music that reflects today’s scene. Most lists have always reflected an aging, less influential demographic.
Most people can’t get passed the point where they’re music is no longer the shit. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad but its cultural relevance isn’t the same.
There's a few responses to this. First, regarding actual albums, I feel that the best were released in the 60s and 70s. Before the 60s the art of crafting an album wasn't really a big thing yet and in the 80s and 90s cds were a big thing and albums were often bloated to fill a cd and the new millennium is more focused on streaming and singles (Doesn't mean there haven't been classic albums released in the last few decades, there absolutely have been). Second, the 60's-90s albums on here are ones that have stood the test of time. We're getting the best of those decades mixed in with trendy pop albums that might not even be on lists like this in 10-20 years so it looks a little weird and off putting seeing them all next to each other.
Lauryn Hill is so overrated in my opinion... its not a better than album than the Beatles.. Ths list is utter crap.. and Frank Ocean better than Dark Side? Wtf..

My reaction to this list is ZZZZzzzzzz(snoring sounds) Its not your fault music Larry , but the rejection of classic rock by younger generations is a drag. Most of these records will be forgotten 10 years from now. Though I hope not the 60's and 70's stuff.

How do you possibly make a comprehensive list of the greatest albums of all time?
There’s way too many genres to narrow it down to only 100 albums.
How’re you possibly going to give rock, pop, jazz, blues, hip-hop, metal, country, folk and whatever other genres fair representation?
This is why lists like these always irk me.
At least half of those shouldn't be in any top 1000.Surprised The Cure Disintegration and Tom Petty Full Moon Fever weren't on this.

As I expected I didn't know a significant percentage of them. Those that I do know belong on the list. I like the Lauryn Hill album and I can see it in the list of 100 but nowhere near #1.
Well, Larry, if you ever want to get into 90s hip-hop/rap, then this list is not a horrible guide. Otherwise, it is a truly atrocious list.

Personally, the list is very broad.. not to bash any of the music but to put Elton John below Bad Bunny is laughable. Crazy!

Dark Side of the Moon is my 7th favourite out of their 15 albums. Animals is the greatest record ever recorded, to me. It never gets a mention.

Back in Black is way too low. I love Aja by Steely Dan. Maybe you just need a few more listens to "get it" like you did with Pet Sounds
Let's be honest no one agrees with this list except for the corporate zombies who made it. It’s a mashup of legacy “all time great album” picks, 21st century albums with massive acclaim, and extremely popular albums from the last fifteen years. It’s possibly the most boring list I’ve seen of this sort, beating out the original boomer-worshiping Rolling Stone top 500 (their newer one is pretty interesting). I can’t see a single album which I’d consider an interesting choice . one of the biggest problems with the list is recency bias, along with an abundance of pop, hip-hop, and r&b, and a lack of metal, jazz, country, prog, shoegaze, post-punk, new wave, and literally anything that’s not mainstream. i’m not expecting them to put a bunch of underground stuff no one’s ever heard of, but when there’s one metal album (and paranoid is nowhere to be found) and one country and two jazz albums, it’s pretty unfair representation.
But seriously it was a fun list from Apple. Few eye-popping choices but that's what you want from this stuff. Surprises.

I have that number one album. It is good but would not be my number one. I can see the list is aiming toward diversity (ie not fill it too much with white rock acts). A lot of these lists tend to be subjective. There is no right answer. It all comes down to taste.

I’m 17 so I do enjoy many of these artist but for me nothing beats the 60s/70s artists, Lauryn hill and Micheal Jackson better then the Beatles sorry NO.

This list is out to lunch. Wasted 20 minuets watching it. I mean I am a Canadian and Rush didn't make the list. Neil Young didn't make the list. Leonard Cohen didn't make the list. The Band didn't make the list but Drake , who can't sing to save himself, made the list.
Every Genesis album from 71-76 should be on this ridiculous list.

Any album from the last 20 years should automatically be disqualified for these lists. To be considered among the greatest albums you have to stand the test of time. For most of these contemporary albums it is too early for such lists.
I don't think that the people who made this list, have heard most of this albums. Awful and ridiculous list, with a few exceptions.
Yeah it’s objectively impossible to please everyone and give all the genres out there it’s proper representation, but man a lot of these albums should NOT be here 😂

I’m ok with this. I have some of the albums listed in the top 100 but it’s not necessarily a reflection on my overall taste in music. I’m just sick of people referencing albums that are almost 60 years old as still relevant, vibrant music that reflects today’s scene. Most lists have always reflected an aging, less influential demographic.
Probably because most of today's music is pure crap. I'll stick with the 50's to 90's, thanks.
Most people can’t get passed the point where they’re music is no longer the shit. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad but its cultural relevance isn’t the same.
There's a few responses to this. First, regarding actual albums, I feel that the best were released in the 60s and 70s. Before the 60s the art of crafting an album wasn't really a big thing yet and in the 80s and 90s cds were a big thing and albums were often bloated to fill a cd and the new millennium is more focused on streaming and singles (Doesn't mean there haven't been classic albums released in the last few decades, there absolutely have been). Second, the 60's-90s albums on here are ones that have stood the test of time. We're getting the best of those decades mixed in with trendy pop albums that might not even be on lists like this in 10-20 years so it looks a little weird and off putting seeing them all next to each other.
Lauryn Hill is so overrated in my opinion... its not a better than album than the Beatles.. Ths list is utter crap.. and Frank Ocean better than Dark Side? Wtf..
