As an Austrian, I’m glad we are not in a shooting war since WW2. Used a lot of Steyr Weapons during my time in the military, it’s real high quality stuff you can count on. Although we used the real UZI and not the MPI.
I own an MPi81 and the safety has a middle position that is semi auto only. It stops the full travel of the trigger. I dont know if it was on all of them but mine has it. Mine is a Steyr-Daimler-Puch gun made in the early 90s.
Thank you mr Vickers...so much.. I always liked the MPI 81 over the MPI 69... you don't know how much I appreciate watching your videos brings back some memories for me
The Aussie F88 (AUG) rifles has a 3rd setting on the push through safety that prevents the trigger from going all the way back to full auto so you don't have the issue of mag dumps under stress. Push it through again and it goes to the full auto where you can do half trigger pulls for semi and full pulls for full auto. The original fire selector was seen as a real drawback so it was implemented on all the rifles here.
Always enjoy the high speed camera stuff . Your AK 107 video still one of my favorite of all time . Thanks for exposing us to weapons we may never get a chance to see .
Brilliant vid again by Larry... For the next video, when you do a gun review, can you also do some reloading/half reloading. In other words, some weapon handling? That would be much appreciated!
Mpi 69 were offered to police departments in the early nineties around 92 to 94 on some program, were the weapon was paid for by the individual but was retained by the agency We had recieved a flyer for this, and price was just over 250.00. I'd love to sit down with Mr. LAV over a beer and listen to his stories.
Nice to see you in good shape, LAV. You lost an impressive amount of weight. You're my favourite gun expert on YT. Keep up the good work! Cheers from Greece.
Would like to see this available as a semi auto with 16 inch barrel. Or maybe just with a pistol brace .. Maybe in different colors .... Great styling. Like a deluxe uzi
A friend has the MPi-69 never knew there was an 81 version, would appreciate it more if you could field strip the weapon or rack the slide or reload it, thanks.
I don't think I've ever heard of this gun before. Love you channel and your professional perspective on guns that we don't get to see much of. This one in particular looks somewhat annoying to shoot with how much it looked like it recoiled for a 9mm.
It would be cool to see a ar15 bolt carrier cut just behind the gas ports. welded the cut back end to the front of the face of the carrier. Have the upper extended just a little so the carrier could "slide" over the chamber wrapping around the barrel. Idk if that is even possible but if so it would be moving the bcg forward and possibly having less movement when shooting. Just a idea
Interesting how the slide stays open during firing, I noticed at 3:50 you could have had a potential problem there but it didn't affect it with the open slide.
Larry- the only thing wrong with these videos is you don't give us your impression after firing the weapon at the end. I want to know how it stacks up against the Uzi (most similar) & MP5 (generally regarded as the best subgun). Did getting the bolt mass forward make it more controllable?
Controlled semi ,out of smg. Killing prisoner’s snipeing singles +100m. Smg usually is used in Full auto. Semi those milititia / conter terror hostage shoot out. No war where handgrenade is used first then 2-3 burst’s
When I was in the military service in Austria using the styer Aug, the select trigger was a problem even in training. Lots of accidental full auto fires, especially with older guns. It really isn't a good idea, especially for an assault rifle
Wasn't the Steyr AUG the same with it's firing mechanism, where it took a partial trigger squeeze to fire semi-auto but a full trigger squeeze to fire full-auto?
Any chance that any manufacturer is looking at modernizing this simple , effective weapon ...?? Better sights , barrel , high powered ammo and stock ..???
Something I’ve always wondered with these dual-stage triggers is if I fire a round in the first stage of the trigger, then pull the trigger further back to the full-auto stage without resetting the trigger first, will it continue to fire? Or do you have to reset the trigger then pull it all the way back to go full-auto?
I have also wondered this! I've never seen anyone breakdown the trigger on those particular guns to show how they operate...I would think if you pulled on through it would go full auto...but that's just an old machinist guess. Wish someone with a big UA-cam channel that has access to very hard to find guns would go further into detail with one of those guns....✌
You can fire a shot semi and then hold it to pull through to fully automatic without releasing it. That is the only way to get a nice trigger release when trying to let off an accurate burst without just yonking it all the way back.
Was literally thinking of how no big UA-camr has done this gun yet, thanks Larry!
Carlos Villa who are you to say he didnt?
@Carlos Villa i was the night before i looked up mpi-81 on youtube and only found a few vids of shooting and the one that just came up by tfb tv
Hotline Miami fan(;
Who are you to say he did?
Ian didn't do a video on one yet! He only did a video on the MPi 69.
It looks like an limousine uzi.
LimUzine ...
Mr. Vickers is looking as sharp as ever. So glad he shares his knowledge.
I can see what you did there. Like in the 80's movies, you're so cool you don't have to reload!
As an Austrian, I’m glad we are not in a shooting war since WW2. Used a lot of Steyr Weapons during my time in the military, it’s real high quality stuff you can count on. Although we used the real UZI and not the MPI.
Gotthard Glass Jew / Uziel Gal same man
Much better use of the slowmo. Thanks for showing the actual rate of fire more.
I own an MPi81 and the safety has a middle position that is semi auto only. It stops the full travel of the trigger. I dont know if it was on all of them but mine has it. Mine is a Steyr-Daimler-Puch gun made in the early 90s.
If a uzi n Mac 11 had a baby
So it wasn't just me that thought that
Reminds me a bit the Polish PM-84.
Camera work is insane. Love LAV
Thank you mr Vickers...so much.. I always liked the MPI 81 over the MPI 69... you don't know how much I appreciate watching your videos brings back some memories for me

Your lookin good Larry. Keep training!
At first glance, it looks like a UZI but when you look at it, its the finest Austrian Smg. JA
Jim Riddle jawohl
Always enjoy the high speed camera stuff . Your AK 107 video still one of my favorite of all time . Thanks for exposing us to weapons we may never get a chance to see .
Dude, those last slow mo shots with the bullets flying out are fucking GOLD
I cant believe Larry doesn't have a subscriber count in the millions. His videos are great!
How you get what you get blows me away sometimes... this is one of those even with its flaws . Very very hard to come by . Thanks. Way cool thanks
Finally,I was waiting for you sir to make an quality video and review on this gun !
Brilliant vid again by Larry... For the next video, when you do a gun review, can you also do some reloading/half reloading. In other words, some weapon handling? That would be much appreciated!
Dennis van der Heijden You may find that type of content in old videos.sir.

Thanks for sharing, Larry! Looks very controllable
Awesome sub gun. Thanks, brother.
Amazing video - good stuff! I like the rare, unusual firearms that you feature. 👍👍👏
Larry, what a great piece of content! The shot of those spent cases flinging out of the ejection port was simply incredible. I friggen love your work.
Thanks!
Loved how the whole video wasn’t slow mo keep doing more like this
Awesome segment Larry! Loved all of the full auto fire you did with the MPi-81...keep it up!!
Those shell casings are hypnotic.
Thanks Again MSG Vickers
Funny thing is I was thinking about submachine guns this whole week week and you posted a video about one of them today. Nice!!. Cheers Mr Vickers.
Seems extremely controllable. Loving the slo-mo shots in these videos!
As always super cool content!
Love the slow motion shots.
Dam. You’ve got one of the best cameras out of all the other gun channels. Yours has the slow mode feature down pat!!!!
Fantastic video! Thank you Sir!

Uzi & Mac had a baby!

Really spits the rounds out yet looks fairly controllable.
Would like to see this available as a semi auto with 16 inch barrel. Or maybe just with a pistol brace .. Maybe in different colors .... Great styling. Like a deluxe uzi
Love that slo-mo
A friend has the MPi-69 never knew there was an 81 version, would appreciate it more if you could field strip the weapon or rack the slide or reload it, thanks.
Could continuous recoil from a firearm negatively affect an automatic watch?
If anything it probably winds it.
Outstanding footage.
... Awesome video Larry, looking good ... Keep doing what you're doing. Randy ODA225 back in the day. Everyone says Get it Dude ☺ ...
That ejection is beautiful!
Just like in the movies, you never had to change a mag! 😜
Great sub gun 💨
That thing looks ridiculously reliable!
I don't think I've ever heard of this gun before. Love you channel and your professional perspective on guns that we don't get to see much of. This one in particular looks somewhat annoying to shoot with how much it looked like it recoiled for a 9mm.
Larry brought a stretch uzi to the party
Can you please do a review on AK203

It's called open bolt
This 8s the milano from Blopd Cw right?
Can you do a review on the Mexican assault rifle called FX-05?
Bean gun
Lots of fun there.
That ejection pattern is very consistent.
Fun fact...this sub gun was featured in Marvel comics The Punisher Armory in the early 90s.
Nice review, see that you lost some weight too.
Niceeee
If you put the safety midway between Safe and Full Auto, you should get semi auto fire
It may be a limited run on some of the later 81 models, but Verso is correct; the halfway setting on the safety gets you semi auto function.
Looks extremely stable
looks so badass!!
Still a good looking gun
Definitely would end up being a full auto only gun under stress with that system. Thank you as always LAV! ✌
Мне нравится.
The mags work also on the AUG 9 Para conversion.
I wonder, do they also work in the MP9?
Larry- the only thing wrong with these videos is you don't give us your impression after firing the weapon at the end.
I want to know how it stacks up against the Uzi (most similar) & MP5 (generally regarded as the best subgun). Did getting the bolt mass forward make it more controllable?
That trigger is best design fullstop
You mean 'bad' design right?
Its the Milano of Cold War (CoD)
Do a video on the Svt-40.

Agreed
Do a video about the soviet AVS-36
Ian did a video on this gun!!!
Next time, i request taiwan t77 smg and agram 2000
Awesome !!!!!!!!!!!
Within 2 years we're gonna see muscular Larry!
It says 9x18 in the initial review but it's 9mm para!
Hmmm in slo-mo the gun seems to be constant recoil?
Nice smg.
thats a pretty heavy gun for what it is
Wasn't the Steyr AUG the same with it's firing mechanism, where it took a partial trigger squeeze to fire semi-auto but a full trigger squeeze to fire full-auto?
I pretty sure some of the earlier models came exactly this way..but they figured out the problem with it and changed the next generation of guns.✌
Yes. There are options to lock out accidentally firing full auto.
On the plus side of the trigger being the selector, you aren't going to go into a small room with a bad guy and find out your gun is in semi-auto.
This is the milano in cold war
Famae SAF 9 please 👌🏻
can u do a video on VSS Vintorez
“How do you do my fellow uzis”
The guns are cool, but I would like to hear more stories from the man behind the gun.
Presentation is nice, but I want to say that the Uzi used two position feed magazines just like the Steyr does.
Mantap....tp lebih mantap kalau bisa ujicoba senapan SS2 dari indonesia ....
Nice
Any chance that any manufacturer is looking at modernizing this simple , effective weapon ...?? Better sights , barrel , high powered ammo and stock ..???
What are those gloves?
South America revolution pistol
Ingram mac-11
Uzi smg mixng guns
I thought I was watching an 80s movie, where the guy shoots 300 shots from one clip.
Make video on Indian INSAS
