- When we hear the words “human trafficking,” we often think of sexual abuse and exploitation. When we hear the word “slavery,” we think of the oppressive use of forced manual agricultural labor from the 19th century. But here in 21st century America, children and young adults are being enslaved and being trafficked for their labor at tasks as inconspicuous as bussing tables at a nearby restaurant. This was Elijah’s story: a childhood spent working in the restaurants of a religious organization, away from his family and frequently being moved from state to state. Elijah shares his story of silence, shame, abuse, and ultimately escape from the human trafficking of slave labor. Elijah Muhammad is an aspiring motivational speaker who is truly an example of the saying, “succeeding against all odds.” He spent his childhood and early adulthood in a human trafficking cult, that dictated every aspect of his life. Elijah’s story was told for the very first time when he served as a contributor on A&E’s “Cults and Extreme Beliefs.” He has aided in freeing others from similar enslavements and volunteers a great deal of time advocating for other victims of human trafficking. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
This is a good friend of mine!!! So proud of him!
Cool 😍. My heart breaks for him i can't even watch past the first 2 mins.
Wow, thank you for sharing your story. I was also labor trafficked and have been looking for survivor stories. Happy to have stumbled across yours ❤
Thank you for sharing your experiences. Especially difficult is how shaming it can be for peoples lives, to come forward. Or having two lives. One filled with horrors and another struggling to live a normal, healthy and legal life within human abilities.
You have helped more people than you may realize. ♥️🙏🏽
This is heartbreaking! A21 is the organization I support in the fight against Human Trafficking.
Thank you for sharing your story. Its validating to see other survivor live, unapologetically, in their own truth while also being the voice for those who are still silenced.
We've come a long way from our experience with The United Nation of Islam. I wish you well on your journey or healing and thriving.
Stay safe!
If something wrong really happened to him I would support him fully, however sister Roxanne he started off with a lie. His mother and father begged the Nation to take him to Kansas. They had no food at home. Everyone KNOWS this. He was not there with Najee. Ask him about Ishmael. Ask Elijah how many people he abused. Elijah did not escape in Harlem!! He was put out in Dayton. So much so that he threw a rock through the window of Daytons carry out.
Calls monitored?
Forced to work in places others choose?
Facing punishment for not cooperating?
Forced to live with people who treat you inhumanely?
Not being allowed to receive proper medical treatment?
I thank God for this video.
Wow! Powerful testimony these tragedies comes in all types of diguises even from the most trusted of sources. This sounds like a modern day version of Amistad. My God Help your People!
Thank you for sharing your story
god bless you. how horrific and cruel people can be and how resilient little humans can be. Thank you for educating us.
It’s not true!
Omg feel like u telling my story 😭💔😭😭😭
I hope more people become aware to this kind of stuff or at least view this issue more. Many people around the world including Countries you think are safe from this kind of tyranny become even more hidden and disguised because of our ignorance to believe/spread awareness of this.
Sadly, issues affecting MEN are usually ignored! That’s the sad truth!
@@JCTHEJOCK Why is that?
@@MRE-lw2dx Because the focus is always on women. Nobody cares about the struggles men go through.
Crazy
I can’t believe this…this is total disrespect…
His parents joined the United Nation of Islam unfortunately the actual organization is just called Nation of Islam out of Chicago
Nation of Islam and (UNOI)
United Nation Of Islam are similar sounding in name, but are two different organizations.
@@elijahmuhammad2271 correct that’s what I was making aware here
Pharmacy and restaurants and sport centers are top places for trafficking but also academia. I think you need to belong to a minority group for that to happen.
This is a very bias platform. Whenever I leave a comment to counter Elijah’s lies you do not post it, but when he tells lies about the Nation y’all let him go on and on.
@@marcokitty9445 and you made no sense. Come again.
