Bloody hell... Not only did you beat it in 1 turn, but also with basically only 2 soldiers. I did not think you could deal that much damage with a ranger's Rapid Fire, and I also didn't know the icarus armor had a map-wide range like that.
@@thunderstrand Icarus armor is nuts, as long as you can see the landing zone and it isn't under what the game classifies as a roof, you can just go there for free.

These same people also have slain the paragons of genetic engineering we have liberated from one of their own labs. Resistance is fierce, and the fighting will be savage, it's safe to say that every one of the Elder's soldiers on the battlefield is prepared for an onslaught. Which is why this one woman's charge through the mob caught everyone off guard. They left the ramp with a dead sprint, one of her friends cheering behind her as ran. The codecies on the front line expected her blade and ducked to cover, the priest couldn't even focus on her position, and even as the muton rearguard prepared for her to start ripping and tearing, it quickly became apparent that she was only interested in getting it done. She jumped off the fence and whipped out her storm gun, let two scattershos rip out of it and through the disrupter, and turned her head to the sky. As the disrupter burst and the same voice cheered "That's my lass!", she shot herself back across the battlefield towards the Avenger. If not for their omniscience, the Elders may not have believed the story of the Avenger landing, being besieged, and getting away without a single casualty from either side.
Amazing teamwork. Reminds me, on how I had the avanger mission fairly early ingame in an anoying nick of time. And because XCOM gotta be XCOM, i not only triggered the Beserker Queen on the first turn, but also had to deal with a Chosen aswell =.= After a bit of reloading, i finally manged to not get absolutly slaughtered
First time I played this mission I had a reaper, so I was a bit more reckless with her movement. She caught sight of the transmitter on her dash and it was... kind of close. I checked and the fucking base turrets were close enough to aim at it. I remember thinking, 'It can't be that easy right?' It was that easy. Two taps from the turret destroyed it. Couldn't finish on turn 1 because my reaper needed to get back, but zero enemy pods activated.
Generally the enemies will either take a shot on discovery, especially if there’s a solider that’s out in the open or being flanked, or take cover. In this case XCOM has the Tactical Analysis resistance order which causes the enemy to lose one turn on discovery so I think the AI decided it’d be smarter to find cover first, then attack
@@taomahNEGEV Its one of the random bonuses that you can get from contacting territories and building resistance towers in specific regions or from using the WOTC faction benefits. It's probably one of the most useful one of those other than improved PCS or improved weapon attachments
Aliens only get to use an offensive action if they discover you on their turn. This entire video takes place on the XCOM turn, so the aliens only get a reaction move to get to cover. The reason for this is that if they didn’t get to move when you discovered them, there would be nothing to stop you gunning them all down in the open. Generally if they discover you on their turn they will take cover, as they will naturally only have one action left (having used the first to move into visual range) but every so often they decide to use their remaining action to take a flanking shot instead.
Holy .... I always have LT's and Sgt's ... and maybe 1 captain when this mission comes up lol. Icarus Armor? Viper Armor? Exo? Defense Turrets? hehehehe
Hahha. Well if this mission starts because of dark event, situation is different. I have video on that one too. It is not that famous. You can trigger this event by doing black site missions, but only if it does not happen as dark event.
@@amixp2745 I just recently started playing again. Chosen are handing my backside to me on Commander (though I have done a couple of missions successfully without having to save scum). Avatar is already at 4 blocks with me being 3 zones away from the 1 site I know about. Assassin is almost at 2 of 4 bars.
@@JedForge Much of game depends on faction you choose at beginning. Always choose reapers. So you can recruit second reaper from 'Hero's Welcome' faction op. Always send reaper first to mark enemies, with 'target definition' ability. And then game becomes easy. I had created 'Defeat aliens by June' commander difficulty guide but that hard disk got corrupted & I failed to upload.
I remember having a showdown in a deserty map in Mexico with hills and low grounds with a withered she'd, shit was crazy I think I lost like 5 or 6 soldiers in that mission one rookie died dramatically slowly becoming limp and callopsing like a deflated balloon slowly his gun slowly slipping out of his arms and life realeasing out of him pretty fucked..crazy battle for me.

Mine strategy was also 2 units but in 3 moves.I neded a psyonic and sniper.As psyonic i controled kodex and teleported to generator and shoot it.And by sniper ability i could shoot generator from far distance.
i hacked their elite spark unit and destroyed it with that even brought back the spark to the ramp sadly couldn't keep it dunno if you can even do that otherwise that would have been perfect
You can defeat chosen & just chill for entire game. Avenger mission happens once per game in WOTC. It can happen as dark event, 50% chance to evade with avenger. As soon as you visit second black site this mission triggers. If not then guaranteed after third blacksite.
@@amixp2745 The 50% chance is only if the UFO was spawned by a Dark Event. The UFO scripted to spawn after completing one of the 3 story missions needed to unlock the Avatar Autopsy (the game randomly selects which one at the start of the campaign) is guaranteed to hit you.
Eh, I mean XCOM 2 strategy has always been mitigating the enemy by deleting them as fast as possible, stasising or mimic beacons and the late game has always had XCOM dominating, even in enemy unknown. War of the Chosen does have some really specific overpowered things that I know of like Templars with bladestorm, reapers with banish and repeaters and the hunters sniper rifle. Still, by the time you're running that stuff you'd be pretty overpowered anyway so if anything WotC makes the early to mid game harder to compensate. Chimera Squad's turn order, at least the way I played it was focused on taking out enemies before they could act or moving my guys up the order, so not that different from XCOM 2 strategies of overwhelming firepower
@@maxcompton3482 First two missions are highly unpredictable if you have enabled lost & abandoned. Once you get the reaper, game's difficulty does not remain same. As with reaper's stealth you always know where enemies are. There is also target definition. Even squaddie reaper is invaluable. As for base game without WOtC, it is quite difficult till your soldiers rank up. Rangers are powerful in both versions, especially in base game.

Fair point about the reapers, before war of the Chosen a concealed Ranger was my scouting unit but reapers are just straight up better in that role.

It is clearly a modded game. X-com soldiers didn't miss 3 99%-shots in a row. And something stupid didn't block LoS. So I don't believe it. By the way, it IS possible to miss objects.
When you complete XCOM 2 more than 50 times, even RNG can not stop you. In fact you manipulate RNG in your favour. Very few people know this. Soldiers especially rangers with proximity bonus do not miss objects when they have 20% AIM due to superior scope & bonus aim from faction ops. I have shown 3 methods to complete avenger defense in one turn. Regardless of beacon's position.
This game is just pathetic. It has its flawless but it has many annoying game breaking bugs as well. I got all soldiers alive and extracted to first spawning location to take off but somehow it still said unit in danger and Central dude keep telling me that I left someone behind but my all soldiers are all ready to take off. Wtf is this damn bug?
Seems legit but feels like a cheat. No offense meant, it is a great move, but I am not quite sure if I would have used same tactics for anything except for a speed run
Hahahah. Well, let us see. Advent has unlimited reinforcements & XCOM is outnumbered. If we read human history, any battle won with handful of soldiers against hoard of army is cheat. Like Spartans for example.
@@amixp2745 Spartans didn't win, though. The Athens navy is what really won that war. As far as the tactic goes it's certainly cheese, but Ironman Legend sometimes needs to be cheesed. Personally I feel you're robbing yourself of one of the coolest missions in the game, but I never played Legend myself
If you have a squad of full colonels, level three bonds, all the alien ruler armour, war suits with power weapons and so on then it does become laughably easy. It’s getting to that point that’s the difficult bit.

I think you could have shot the transmitter with the Chosens sniper rifle instead of using Advanced teamwork for that.
The more impressive part is that you did this on L/I, I struggle with Commander Ironman or Legend seperately, let alone combined.

Overdrive serum+teamwork+Archon King armor=easily done deal.
When reinforcements are coming, get everybody close and put them on overwatch. It becomes an ADVENT slaughter.

X-Com 2 has a very unusual difficulty curve. On Legend with 7 squaddies in month 2 - this level is basically impossible.
Its possible just expect to lose soldiers in the beginning. If you can make it to magnetic weapons and predator armor it gets a lot easier.
