Normal Soldier somehow shoots inside a closed barn, and all the bullets go through the mouse hole, and curve through the mouse hole maze, and dart up and outside, into space, avoiding E V E R Y T H I N G. The soldier was aiming for the barn.

People in this thread really like waiting in a corner for enemies to charge into their overwatch or just yoloing people with no care for anything. I've never had a massive problem with the timers in vanilla Xcom 2 or WoTC. Why? because I realized that the timers required just some forward thinking to get the job done, both on the tactical layer and the strategy layer (in the form of upgrades). And If you can't, Learn to cut your losses and bounce back. I won't say Xcom 2 isn't frustrating when the RNG and the time crunch, but it isn't insurmountable, it just means you'll take some Ls. I had to take an L yesterday because of a Mini Intel retaliation on my Long War Campaign. The game spawned two pods of one mec and one SuperHeavy mec + troops (one of them had a beserker too) on the map, and even with a lucky hack on a tower resulting in a 2-turn hack of all mecs on the map, all the mecs barely did any damage to their allies with shots and missiles. Add to that, my soldiers missed/grazed high percent shots on the controlled mecs with reinforcements about to drop soon. So you know what I did? Instead of whining about what's unfair, I killed the units closest to my soldiers and haven people and set to evac. Lost the mission, lost one civvie, and had a soldier wounded, BUT I saved the other five and the other 7 soldiers on my squad were fully active. You have to have the forethought of how something is going to go based on information. If your not willing to do that and dance with the game's punches, why are you playing/why did you play a strategy game like this? Also, "Arbitrary instant fail timers that IN CONTEXT make no sense half the time", nice cover for your obvious strawman with the concession of "it makes sense half the time". I retort by asking you to go to the wiki and see that a Guerrilla Operation (using Guerrilla Warfare tactics) is a style that's meant to hit-and-run engagements. the backbone of those engagements being logistical support from other groups. Time as it were; finally, in contrast, It makes no sense in any context for the Military superpower of Advent to have nuggets of critical supplies (like Elerium) dotted on the all the maps for ANY mission, like Meld, BECAUSE THERE'S NO NEED TO DO THAT ANYMORE. They control the world, not you, so they can store the heavy bulk of their resources anywhere they want and surround it with UFOs.
XCOM: The only game where a realism difficulty mode would actually make the game easier, because then XCOM soldiers would be able to land more shots than a 10 year old.

Lower difficulty makes higher shot percents even higher the higher it is, like 95 would scale up to like 99 and 75 would go up to like 76. Higher difficulties you get what you see

Because any xcom vet knows this feeling where literally nothing goes right and everyone’s gonna die. 😂 especially that car exploding moment you’re just minding your business and something blows up on the other side of the map that somehow screws you over for the next hour and a half.
but why the player didnt place the soldiers up in the windows of the buildings? it give a flat 20% bonus chance to hit alone. You would miss alot less this way. I always when play xcom and xcom2 try to place my soldiers on higher elevation that the enemy.

That's only because your brain registers every occurrence of a 95% missing twice in a row instead of all the hits. So you're biased to only remember the misses and not the countless times that you have hit.

I mean, he did not play exactly optimally here to minimize RNG risks lol. Notice how he gets 3 hits in a row when he finally puts someone on high ground where you get a +20% accuracy bonus
Skill and experience are needed to play around the uncertainty of battle. The enemy has the same (actually worse) modifiers as you. Xcom is a hard game. And it's skillbased. Try playing on Legend without tactics and just rely on RNG... that will go great for you, right?
I discovered that my least favorite number is 94... I found this out when i took tallies of all the missed shots i had during an entire playthrough, and my 94% shots missed 80% of the time!
I can't remember if it was EU or 2 I remember that lower % shots hit more than higher. If you don't need it to hit, it will. Also, lower ranks miss more with the same %s as compared to higher ranking units
This video is the polar opposite of the video that I just watched where he sends in a single guy with a Katana, R.A.G.E. Suit, Arashi Shotgun, and a Stasis Vest. This one man army continued to go and rip and tear his way through the entire level by himself basically only using his katana while using his shotgun every once and a while.
I have an x-com 2 ( with the dlc ) save closing in on the final tasks right now and there is a reason I tend to run rangers, swords and shotguns from 1-2 tiles away generally don't miss unless the enemy have a native 20-30 % dodge or is in cover. Also never bring grenadiers to lost missions EVER.....I have way to many close calls with "accidental" explosions I would have wanted to avoid in an area where enemies are sensitive to sound.

Meanwhile on Xenonauts: Aimed Single Shot for 78% of your total AP Chance to hit: 98% Result: Miss the alien, hit a civvie on the other side of the map and lose overwhelming amounts of council support at the end of the semester
Its funny how XCOM2 literally made me realize that squad based tactics are garbage if you need to rely on explosions to deal most of your dmg if the aiming system exists simply to make you judge statistical math and probability.
Thats why i dont play games like this they usually have a decent story but the gameplay is either amazing or complete bullshit and which it is changes every second.
@@skarletfenrir6979 first, the game version from the video is heavily modded, so any of the mods could very well mess up with actual hit chances. Second, the guy plays super dumb, he does not even check what he shooting and at what chance, and each time surprised he kills a boomer (modded enemy btw). Regarding "complete bullshit", this game is 100% tactical, and RNG actually plays very little role. Because if success, or death of a soldier gets decided by 1 bad roll, you made many mistakes long before that role. Also, most of the abilities, especially defensive ones, are pretty much there to correct your mistakes or bad rolls. Healing is for example is exactly sad. Grenades and attachments and abilities are for those low % chances. This game only fucks you up with RNG if you allow it.

Yes its tactical but i have had the perfect plan way to many times and still lost because every shot somehow misses.

I've been playing LWOTC recently and am routinely missing every shot. I can't help but feel that the actual numbers are much lower than what they tell us just to add a slight difficulty curve.
Because it’s true random, unlike most percent chance games where the odds are weighted in the player’s favour. So there’s no rounding up, no rerolls, no hidden bonuses, just raw numbers. And raw numbers don’t care how many times in a row something has gone wrong for you, they’ll be just as harsh each time.
Bro this is legit the main reason why I full on stopped playing XCOM all together the amount of times I had to save and restart missions because none of the units would hit anything despite having near enough 100% aim or being 1 or 2 tiles away from the enemy I did manage to get back into it for a couple days later down the line but had to shove a series of cheats in to actually make it playable
Fighting against the Lost feels like you're playing a turn based Left 4 Dead. Every once in a while, while you're trying to deal with shit, more shit happens almost without breaks.
When I used a melee to finish off the snek king it gave me the achievement the moment I pressed the button, despite the fact that the initial move didn't kill. Everything is rolled the moment you press the button, so those soldiers decided the moment you pressed the button to miss
As a experienced X-Com 2 WOTC player, I can confirm, that X-Com 2 early game combined with the Lost from WOTC is a VERY quick way to achieve the mental status of total madness

You can rig DnD by saying "That's easy, you can only miss that if you roll a nat 1." This guarantees a 1 to be rolled.

I have been watching xcom 2 videos this past weeks and this was the KING!!! ROFLMAO!!
Its funny how XCOM2 literally made me realize that squad based tactics are garbage if you need to rely on explosions to deal most of your dmg if the aiming system exists simply to make you judge statistical math and probability.

when my soldier missed a 100% shot i threw it out. I like the story, but the against-you rng of the player shots is just so terrible.
Thats why i dont play games like this they usually have a decent story but the gameplay is either amazing or complete bullshit and which it is changes every second.
@@skarletfenrir6979 first, the game version from the video is heavily modded, so any of the mods could very well mess up with actual hit chances. Second, the guy plays super dumb, he does not even check what he shooting and at what chance, and each time surprised he kills a boomer (modded enemy btw).
Regarding "complete bullshit", this game is 100% tactical, and RNG actually plays very little role. Because if success, or death of a soldier gets decided by 1 bad roll, you made many mistakes long before that role. Also, most of the abilities, especially defensive ones, are pretty much there to correct your mistakes or bad rolls. Healing is for example is exactly sad. Grenades and attachments and abilities are for those low % chances.
This game only fucks you up with RNG if you allow it.
@@SwordWieldingDuck missing when i have a 100% chance to hit is bullshit and its happened way to many times. I have hit more shots in this game that are below 75% than above 90% that is bullshit rng. Yes its tactical but i have had the perfect plan way to many times and still lost because every shot somehow misses.
@@SwordWieldingDuckas a vet who loves the game and who has multiple legendary play throughs, bull-fucking-shit. You can do everything right and be fucked over by missing multiple 95s. Your only salvation is late-game when everyone is a colonel with Chosen gear and you forget there’s a chance to hit and start screaming about not criting instead.
I've been playing LWOTC recently and am routinely missing every shot. I can't help but feel that the actual numbers are much lower than what they tell us just to add a slight difficulty curve.

Literally just really unlucky. Sometines the characters had 95% chance to hit and they still rolled the 5% to miss
Because it’s true random, unlike most percent chance games where the odds are weighted in the player’s favour. So there’s no rounding up, no rerolls, no hidden bonuses, just raw numbers.
And raw numbers don’t care how many times in a row something has gone wrong for you, they’ll be just as harsh each time.
Bro this is legit the main reason why I full on stopped playing XCOM all together the amount of times I had to save and restart missions because none of the units would hit anything despite having near enough 100% aim or being 1 or 2 tiles away from the enemy I did manage to get back into it for a couple days later down the line but had to shove a series of cheats in to actually make it playable

When I used a melee to finish off the snek king it gave me the achievement the moment I pressed the button, despite the fact that the initial move didn't kill. Everything is rolled the moment you press the button, so those soldiers decided the moment you pressed the button to miss
This game bulls bs like that all the time...

As a experienced X-Com 2 WOTC player, I can confirm, that X-Com 2 early game combined with the Lost from WOTC is a VERY quick way to achieve the mental status of total madness

Xcom is the only game that can traumatize you so hard that you have to cross your fingers and hope your grenade doesn't somehow miss.
I stopped playing xcom 2 when I realized 90% chance was actually 50% and it ruined the game for me.
