    Soo true. Sometimes you just aren't lucky. My only trip to the Victorian mallee so far we had super limited opportunities to see any birds. 2700km round trip and mostly got whistling kites. You know you are videoing and photographing birds well when my usually uninterested cat is transfixed by the entire video. She grew up in a national park with me and her first friends were black cockatoos who would throw stuff for her to chase. So full of light! That's amazing. Excellent backgrounds as always. I wish I can go to Australia one day.
    Are the birds all that shy, so you need your blind, or is it just to get closer?

    • @jan_wegener

      The birds up there are generally pretty skittish. so the blind helps to get close enough
      I shoots at 25fps, so shutter speed is usually 1/50 and ISo set accordingly. Lately, I have been using higher shutter speeds for bird videos, to keep the lens wide open and it works quite well.

    Klasse Vogelwelt.

I'm sorry but can you please tell us about that bird hide suit again? It looks perfect for hot Indian weather, and is more practical than carrying a pop up hide around. Brand name and link would be very useful.

    Hi Jan,
    I have noticed your not shooting with a flash in this vid, or others, with the R5.
    Whats up?

      I have not been using my flash much at all since I got the R5

      @MrWDCash 3 роки тому

      @@jan_wegener Is this because the R5 handles light better then your 1Dx did? Or just differant conditions?

      @@MrWDCash It's a bit more annoying to use with mirrorless and seems to be less needed. The main thing is really that flash cannot keep up with the high frames rates.

    • @MrWDCash
      @MrWDCash 3 роки тому

      @@jan_wegener I have been seriously considering adding a flash rig to my 7dii. Primarily because of your suggestion on a past vid. Slowing down the frame rate and its clumsiness slowing the decision.
      Yesterday, shooting at a nesting site in very dappled light had me really wishing I had a flash. But still on the fence
