I actually did, but didn't get too excited about it. After buying it and playing for a while, I went and made another research about the game and it sadly didn't meet my expectations. It seems lacking in what could be achieved throughout the game. I thought that, maybe, a dynasty should have more than just a village with a palisade around it. Bandits are scarce, combat is wacky and dialogue is really crude. Building and surviving is very good and polished, but if there's no objective to it, I felt like this game is not for me. But for whoever likes surviving and building, it is a good and fun game.
My review would have to be good across the board. MD is not a game where combat is any kind of focus - thankfully; as there are far too many combat focused games and not enough that allow you to create, build, and explore without having to be equiped like Conan the Barbarian - I have just hit 100hrs in the game and I have never been in combat and I'm quite happy to keep it that way. Wondeful game, kudos to the developers for showing the big guys what a good game looks like.
They STILL should add a sort of "tower defense" where you help defend your town from invasions of bandits and the like. It would add another layer of gameplay that adds to the value of the overall game. Like, you would need to upgrade and arm your citizens so they can help fend off invasions like in 7 days to die. I also wouldn't be against being able to recruit combat units from your town to roam with you to attack and destroy/loot bandit camps that would inturn reduce the amount of invaders when they attack YOUR town. Hopefully the armor/shields update adds some incredibly needed tier system for weapons and armor that would eventually ALSO add in more combat to the game. I'm willing to bet that's what they're going for.
I love the game but I do agree with you that armor and combat needs improvements , BUT I also wants dogs! A companion for hunting, working and guarding both stock and villagers, I just miss that animal in there 😢
I’m so happy to see this. My pc died and I’m looking for a banished like game for my Xbox one. I’m gonna try this but if you have suggestions I would appreciate it
I have 100 hours but with offline like in few years span, but i'm finding myself playing game again it's really refreshing and relaxing , really worth it :)
Played the game back in 2021 when it first came out. Liked it a lot but stopped since the Roadmap showed so many new things coming in the following years. Picked it up again last month (when Starfield totally let me down) to see how it changed and I'm loving it. Not touched the MP map and not sure I will since I have no one to play with anyway, but really like all the changes and updates to the overall game. Keep thinking about it while I'm at work, which tells me when a game has really got me hooked. Looking forward to expanding my village even more.
Stop bashing Starfield okay, you weren't their target audience it's as simple as that but it doesn't mean that the game let you down it just wasn't made for people like you! So how about broaden your perspective before putting something down ty!!!!
The fact you got straight to the point and stuck to the facts about what you can do in game rather than talk about things like graphics from the start has made me sub. When I watch reviews i want to know what the game features rather than if it looks good because to me a game can be poor graphics but so long as the gameplay is good ill be hooked. take Powerwash sim as an example.
Ahhh yes, Stronghold, love that game! I revolutionized Castle builds playing other players online. I used to see people copying my defensive style. I loved that game so much. Everyone was so concerned about making these expensive castles that covered large areas of land. Where I made compact and heavily defended and self-sufficient castles. I would also make "weak" points in my castle to intrigue players to attack those spots first, only to be caught in one of my many traps. So many years of fun in that game. I still play once in a great while. Nice to meet fellow gamers who appreciate the Stronghold series.

There definitely is armor, swords, shields, etc. in the game. Maybe it was added in a newer update? But as long as you have the forge/blacksmith area unlocked you can make all sorts of bronze/iron armor/weapons.

actually i was playing bellwright and it seems much cooler, i mean its very amazing that bellwright at early access release have so much content and stuff to do, theres a pretty good combat ( gonna be even better in future ) u NPC can help u with everything and u dont need to hire 1 guy in 1 section, if blacksmith ended his daily job he can help in other jobs, and they actually walk and do everything like players do, so they need to walk to tree to cut it etc, no magic resources spam in buildings, but its lacks of RP stuff and medieval simulation, i just wish that medieval dynasty and bellwright be a one game with all that stuff, thats my dream, a lot of combat but a lot of RP/medieval simulation stuff. Also sengoku dynasty have some good stuff too, like u can actually put furnitures etc in houses.
I’ve been playing this for a few hours because I wanted to find a good medieval game and I just realized there’s no combat aside from bandit camps, the map is super small and ultimately there’s no real endgame. You can’t even get a sword. What’s the point? I can’t start an army and go to war or do anything cool like that, it’s just “dark ages farmer simulator”. If you’re not REALLY into survival games, don’t waste your time on it.
The combat is coming in the November update. Not sure how it will be, but it will be there late November so in a few weeks. Personally I hope there is a toggle for it.
my wife playes on ps5, and i am a PC gamer. so the crossplay is super nice and makes it that much more fun. my only complaint with the co-op is that all players can't share a home as a family, but are considered family so can't produce heir. one or the other. and yes armor would be nice even if just leather or scale. all and all 9/10
Play this game. It's takes a bit to get all the mechanics but once you do it's totally worth it. My advice is start a game, play for a bit. Then start over and mess with the settings to your liking. Then start again.

My biggest disappointment in the game is the fact that villagers and random NPCs do not travel from and through your township. There needs to be more immerse of NPCs and your village. Putting up trading huts just feels like a waste as there is no villagers buying and selling from them. Also another one I am wishing they added was the ability to see your villagers where appropriate clothing for the seasons. Not even going to go into the lack of nothing of bridge building.
