Please keep them longer format which feels like a free flow conversation you two have and share your insights on current topics of Art department. Also I would love to see your work process and how it’s changed over the years with the new current tools. Thank you so much for coming back with Season 2 :)
In contrast to the FZD video I feel you guys are a lot more realistic in your tone and discussion. As you said, a lot of the current issues, in fact most of them, are not due to AI but to macro-economic trends that are affecting everything from tech to advertising. We had a major pandemic and our governments pumped a fuck ton of basically free money into the economy. I feel like a lot of artists were so focused on AI that they didn't realize the entire industry(s) was going under due to more "boring" issues. So many things have compounded together, interest rates, box office decline/audience habits, streaming wars ending, the strikes, and of course AI looming on the horizon. I could be wrong but I don't think the film industry will ever be as big as it once was.
This podcast is amazing. Please keep it going and longer conversations are amazing, but it is understandable to want to cut down on the length. Ultimately, whatever you decide. I will continue to listen.
Its great to see you both doing the podcast. Looking forward to some great conversations. IMO I'm burnt out of all the ai art stuff. It would be great to see some more interviews with your contemporaries and hear some war stories ( if that is something you are able to even discuss publicly )
I have a parent that works in banking and they just had a massive amount of layoffs so even that's not safe. I very honestly think workers across all industry need to start leveraging their collective power because greed, at least in the US, has gotten off the charts and the federal government isn't doing that much to protect people.
A little late but I'm so glad you guys are back. Seriously, to may not know this but this podcast got me through COVID and inspired me to follow my dream. In late 2021 I got in doing some set design and being an assistant art director and was able to join the ADG. Finally early last year I finally worked as Concept Artist for an Amazon TV show, when things went on halt due to the strikes I was hoping to find something to keep me going. This episode is great and though right now I'm freelancing my former "day job", I know projects will eventually come, and I cannot wait to be back! Thanks you both!
I am working in mobile games and AI is slowly creeping in. There is barely any place for personal expression and mobile games are cheap so industrialized approach is unfortuanately perfect fit. I try to compensate by learning to a bit of being technical artist and the reward is that I can do personal projects in free time. It is sucking away lot of energy though.
Great to see you both again! Adaption… it’s a big tool, I’m use to do it from my first job, and I did a lot of different things in more than 20 years in a variety of industries…
So grateful for meeting you both and getting a return of the podcast in the same year! Thanks for coming back and chatting about the state of the industry, I always enjoy hearing different opinions on what is and what should be. 29:10 and 37:40 echo what I've heard you say before definitely: you can't control the stuff around you, but you can do your best work and be a positive person that others want to work with. See you at 100k subs!
Yay! Welcome back guys! I missed you two haha Yeahh aaaa loooooot ofstuff has changed sine your last episode indeed. It's actually crazy if we think about it 🙃
How about telling the truth? We are artist right? We all know the cycle. Make a podcast or youtube then became famous then become a teacher so that you can extract money from your fellow artist via art mentorship right. Just like what happened to Brainstorm School.
That is very true, the ultimate way to be stable is to be a teacher, not just in art/design, for music, sports, is the same. The demand of artists/designers might decrease, but the demand of learning art and design will never decrease, somehow.
This is so sad... For you to think it this way. These things have a natural order, this is why some students who go straight being a mentor falls. Because theres actually a lack of understanding it on a deeper level. Theres just a lot of wrong things of thinking as superficial as this.
This is a comment from someone who's fed up with these art talks yet find themselves not seeing improvement with their craft nor their career. These contents are useful. We didnt have content like these before. Like really getting into the personal level of artists life to understand their approach professionally and personally.

You pretty much got it covered. Even Flipped Normals had similar thoughts, it's due to more 'boring' issues indeed, high interest rates, strikes, etc.
'Art is not failing you, industry is failing you' was powerful, encouraging words for me. thank you
Good talk gentlemen
The one on left should use Headphones cuz we listen the feedback of the other guy. lol

@@jakerose8928 Thats why they say if you cant do. Teach. Nothing wrong or new about that.
its the same in every industry
