But when the stars Aline... this IS what fishing in New Zealand is all about. Beautiful country challenging fish. Great hut system.
Best video by far. Captured the feeling and emotion of what a backcountry walk can do for the soul
Awesome man, stoked about that!!
Thanks heaps🤙
A man who actually handles trout properly and keeps giving them water and doesn't hold them out for 40 seconds ??? You got my sub, great vid and great handling of your fish.
Thanks so much for the sub bro and stoked you rate the content🤙🤙🤙
Welcome to the team!
This reminds me soo much of my father.... He loved fly fishing and he was super good at it... Last year he teached me how to fly fish far up north and it was the best time of my life im soo glad i got to spend that quality time with my father.. He passed away this month
I really feel with you men! Great you had this awesome opportunity to get a great father son experience. Keep on fly fishing mate :)
Sorry for you loss bro. My grandad was my dad and we learnt to fish together too so understand your connection.
Although he has now passed away, he is with me on every trip..
@@TrippinOnTrout thanks i believe that they are up there and just watching us enjoy life and they are happy for us😢
@@bramski1563 They live on in us bro👊
Hi guy! I'm not a fly fisherman yet, but I have been studying many of you guys on UA-cam to learn all that I can until I can pull the trigger and get started. I have noticed that you do things just a bit smarter than most. You dry your fly (false cast) away from the hole that you are fishing then cast and you let the fish tighten the line then reel it in in place of pulling it in just for a couple of examples. Such easy fixes for things that are taught wrong. Thank you for thinking outside of the box and being different.
Glad it helps you learn a tip or two bro🤙
Best fishing content on UA-cam!!! I get so pumped when I click on a new video. Never stop brother!
Love your smile everytime you catch a fish ... Like a boy who got exactly what he wanted for Christmas
That’s exactly how I feel every time bro! Never gets old.
This man deserves more than 10k subs
THANKS BRO!!
We will get there...🤙
Just for the editing alone
I agree how has this video had 30k views and they all did not sub
the amount of effort that Alex puts in to produce informative content and just bloody good scenery deserves more.
@@TrippinOnTrout amazing absolutely superb , here in scotland when bright and sunny the trout just dont play ball , luckily we only get 1 weeks sunshine a year , congrats on a day you will never forget
Thanks Alex, another great day, lots of big fish! Thanks for taking us along..Dave
Fantastic video Alex the Broonies were stunning 🏴🏴🐟🎣🙂
Beutyful stretch of river,,and the trout is big and ready to give the fisherman a good fight,,,,this is flyfiishing at ITS best,,KUDOS❤️❤️☺️👍
Thank you man🤙🤙
Alex, todays upload couldn't have been better timed! I am celebrating my 25th birthday today and your video was an extra gift! Cheers mate, keep the lines tight! 🎣🤟
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRO!!!
Have a great day 🤙
A classic, and as always very informative to anyone visiting NZ for some FF.
Alex Alex Alex. You know your life will never be the same. Your standards of UA-cam content are next level. Only one problem. Catching 3 1/2 pound rainbows from your home waters will never be the same again
You’re not wrong there Paul!! Way to ruin things for yourself aye 😆
Ah... Beautiful New Zealand. Where better? Rainy London town it ain't. Great memories from this time last year and a great video my friend. You looked like your wrist was aching come the end there!
Such a good day!! Awesome place 🔥
Alex, I love your videos and this was one of the best yet. What an amazing day with every fish being so pristine and the baby of the lot at least 6 lbs. Thanks for sharing and making the rest of us envious!!
Wikid bro thanks heaps!!
What a day!👏👏👏
come back - really miss your amazing content and these awesome fish - and your respect for them and the amazing environment...
I’m still posting over on Patreon bro.
I’m trying to create something cool over there and it would be awesome if we’re part of it too..

I watch a lot of UA-cam. This was hands down the most badass video I’ve seen in a long time. Congrats on some absolute tanks 🤙🏻
Thanks heaps man. Stoked you enjoyed it so much🤙
I can absolutely feel your joy by the look in your face. I can’t wait to get over there one day and have a crack at these beautiful browns.
Happy space for sure!!
Epic, as usual :) Amazing camera work, fishing, editing, and storytelling are not easy and you do it so well.
Awesome bro! So happy that those things come across in the content as thats exactly what I am trying to do!
Great fishing trip, tight lines and safe fishing, regards,, Tony.
Thanks Tony, you too!
You do the hard yards walking in. Lots of effort involved in setting off Drone shots, too. That you alone, or do you have an assistant? Fish handled properly before released, too. Class act. Respect. 🙏 Subscribed and shared. Audience earned.
Thanks heaps for the sub and welcome to the team!! I do all that myself bro, and love the places that are tougher to get to!!
Watching for 5th time at least. One of your best. Amazing day and amazing work on those incredible fish. Cheers.
I love that you enjoyed it that much you re watch it!! I have a few videos from Carl and Alex fishing I do that with
Moooooooooooooiiiiiiiiiii 👍👍👍👍👍👍so cool .....and that knot .....super
I like the way you treat the fish after casting. Well done.
Man that first fish was "the perfect brown trout". Beauty of a fish
Stunning aye
Videos are top notch mate, some of the best footage out there. Those big trout are awesome, the wee tiddlers on my local burn are as much fun to catch though👍
Every one of those fish is a fish of a lifetime. What a day!
Yep, crazy cool day!
I feel that river is what dreams are made of... Super cool work buddy!
I totally love you zest and zeal! Your positive attitude is AWESOME!!!
Happy it comes across on video....I just love it!
Nice work, I'm always amazed of the quality fish you catch and you're able to get it all on video. That was a lifetime of big browns in one day, that's coming from a guy that lives and grew-up in Montana.
An exceptional day for sure bro!!
Stoked you like the content so much. Cheers🤙
Montana represents lol born and raised and won't ever leave
Your right there Alex its always good to have someone with u,,, the way me and me bro Garrett do it never fish alone 🎣🎣
Lol your right mate 🤣 always handy to have you bro whit you Dan 👍🏻can't wait to get out the sheelin again, GARRETT out !!!
@@jasonaston9773 cant fecking wait bro not long left SHEELIN here we come🎣🚤🏕🍻🇮🇪
I still enjoy the solos trips tho, just a different vibe when you are all alone out there.
Best way is to mix it up I reckon. Then you get the best of both!!
What a magic day, monster Brown central, and the water quality and local scenery, just blows my mind.
Days like that don’t come along very often aye
Another OUTSTANDING vid Alex! You have got to be one of, if not the best vid-maker out there. Exceptional visual quality, nice mix of music and audio, pertinent comments on the fishing, and very entertaining. It also helps that you have the opportunity to fish for, and actually catch lots of, trout that would be almost anyone's PB. I look forward to seeing your videos every week, keep it up mate! (BTW, what does "chur" mean?)
Wow, really appreciate the kind words Tim, thank you.
My aim is to try and keep upping the quality of content this year 🤙
Dude it is definitely a big year in SI post mast. Trout stomachs haven’t shrunk yet so the biggies are gettable and the choppers aren’t stirring them up. Great to see you burn out on it. I had a nice cask strength whiskey and dark chokkie in honour.....ps I did the missed strike stagger and fall trick today off your previous vid ....happy days
Haha, love that had a cheeky whisky and that you did that strike, miss, eat shit move too...!!🤣🤣
@@TrippinOnTrout kinda got my own back on the missed strike by resting it and going to 6x on a size 18 adams parachute. 8lb browns don't normally give you a second chance down here eh! hope there is a part 2 on your latest....
Way to go ! Super high quality fish, nice editing, making it look like non stop banging.
Thanks man, that was a day like no other!!
Another Epic video Alex. Look forward to one day fishing locations like these with you as my guide. Tight lines and stay safe.
Stoked you enjoyed it man. Good times alright!
Hit me up any time you make it here 🤙
Just incredible man!! Tonnes of gold in that river and you are pretty well dialed in on it. Living the dream!
Doing my best to live that dream..!!
spectacular, you are really tormenting the off shore anglers LOL
Nice one Ken🤙
I spent a month in NZ. Fishing and hunting.
The trout fishing was phenomenol.
Those damn river eels were horrific though!
I"ve watched just a few fly fishing vids :) and this ones up their, good to watch the big south island browns giving ya some grief :)
Thanks man, stoked you like it🤙
@@TrippinOnTrout Even better finding out what river it is
That's some insane fish, love the video. But noticed you go against all the conventional wisdom of lubricating your knots. Are you nuts!!! LOL, keep up the great content.
The double Davy knot you don’t need to lube it up!! Best knot ever!! Thanks for watching bro🤙
Just absolutely love your vids
Thanks man🤙🤙
Dream result Alex ... Living vicariously thru you ... Until I head to Taupo next week
Thanks bro. Have fun in Taupo!!
Great video thanks for making the day better
Glad you enjoyed it
You're right, the sand flies on that particular water are absolutely fierce; almost like nowhere else - they just don't give up! But it's one of my favourite rivers on the SI regardless. Love that rod. Got it in a 6 too. Great stuff.
It’s now one of my favourite rivers too! Granted, I think I nailed it with my timing after the rain but just stunning!! That rod is so Nice to fish with aye👌
@@TrippinOnTrout That water does get a fair bit of pressure. Reckon the lack of fisherman due to COVID has helped too. Yeah, it usually fires after a fresh, haha
@@mahler1mahler148 It does get frequent activity. I'm a bit nervous now, that it will get more. But, oh well, that's social media at play.
@@mahler1mahler148 Better to be lucky than good aye😆
@@marlsounds True. Social media is certainly a modern quandary for fly fishing on the SI (last season's 'mouse' year was nuts - especially feb & march!). Gladly, I'm old enough to remember when that wasn't the case. They were good days, but today's not so bad. There's still plenty of water and good fisherman still catch fish, albeit with more of a crowd.
Far out bro! Seriously impressive fish and scenery. Extremely well filmed and edited. 10/10 as always.
Thanks heaps!!
Stoked you enjoyed it man!
Well done mate, awesome to see you still filming down here. Great fishing on that river, some stinkers caught. Love the hut..
Nah I’ve been back up north for ages now. Just had heaps to get through!
@@TrippinOnTrout ohh fair enough
Well doneAlex man, this is an outstanding watch, the scenery, the photograpy, the dialogue and the fishing as far as fly fishing is concerned you are on top of your game, genuinely one of the best at this.
Dude, I really appreciate that man.
Thanks so much - stoked that you enjoy the content so much 🙏🤙
Hi Alex, beautiful fishing, great trout and sandflies that are nearly as big as the trout! Long approach to the river but when you are camping overnight you make it all worthwhile. Cheers mate, keep it coming. Harera
So much better when you have to work a bit for em aye bro.
Thanks man, 🤙🤙
Fantastic country, fantastic fish and fantastic fisherman, thank you from France
Merci!!!
Spectacular! Those fish are awesome. I would be absolutely stoked to catch a brown half the size as any of the ones the video.
Amazing place aye🤯🔥
Those fish were incredible. Thanks for sharing.
Never get tired of those beautiful browns brother and great footage bucket list fishing spot for sure ordering up one peacock pointers and trying them in Idaho
I absolutely would love to spend just one day fishing with you. I know I could learn a lot.
Well done mate!
Fantastic video, really appreciate it

This is definitely one of the best brown trout videos ive ever seen. Keep it up!

Thanks so much bro. Hopefully I get to 100K one day!!🤙🤙
Alex great video and stunning scenery. South Island magic. love the comment about checking knots and leader after each fish! should have watched this last week LOL. live and learn.
We both failed on that one didn’t we!!
A grade fishing and superbly produced video. Thanks for posting a great catalogue.
What an incredible run of fish. All big! Fantastic ! Makes the fish l’m catching here, look like minnows. Well done. Look forward to part 2.
Crazy good day aye man. They ain’t all like that!!😆
Breath taking!! Both the water and the fish!! Great video Alex

If those were only "MAYBE" your best days fishing ever, I'd love to be with you when you had better days! Great video, though it made me SO jealous.
Fantastic to see you in action especially as we're back in no-fishing lockdown in the UK again. Cannot wait to get onto a river
Hang in there man, I feel
For you stuck in lockdown👊
What an amazing, special place to fish and as always fantastic film. I always enjoy how you edit and add music, best fishing B roll out there.
Thanks man, love that you like the content!!0
Your knots seem to hold very well. For a tippet to leader or tippet to tippet ring what Knot are you using?
I done some spin rod fishing last 2 years. Came across your channel and all I wanna do now is fly fish. The wife got me an orvis 5wt 9' rod for Xmas. Working on my gear and learning before I go out this summer! I enjoy your videos!
Love that you have made the change bro!!

Haha Slab City!! sitting here watching this video with a shiteatin grin on my face! Big beautiful trout, thanks for the show brother always great stuff! Haha, that made me smile!!
Wikid man, cheers!
Right on!👍
Always a thrill on the reel, good job👍
Another super video with an extra point of interest for me. There are only three things I don't like about New Zealand:- 1) How far it is from Scotland, 2) 1080 poison and 3), worst by far, SANDFLIES! I don't know if I'm allergic to the little blighters but it's not unusual for me to still have itching, weeping wounds six weeks after the bite, give me the Scottish midge any day. I've been told by Kiwis that, if you get bitten enough, you develop an immunity to sand fly bites but I'm not sure if it's true or if it is just the Kiwi sense of humour. Can anyone enlighten me?
Nah you just kinda put up with it. The WORST thing you can do is scratch the bites and break the skin....then you go to whole nutha level of discomfort!!
@@TrippinOnTrout Wish I had the willpower not to give just a teensy weensy scratch and then the damage is done. I can say that I have experienced that whole nutha level of discomfort! One guy told me to "Slap on the dimp" to keep the blighters away but I never managed to find any 'dimp', is it just a Kiwi generic term for repellent? DEET works a bit but it melts your polaroid's and who knows what it does for your health - probably much the same as 1080!
@@tommurray3974 Yup, 'Dimp' used to be the popular brand and the name has stuck as the generic term for repellent! Nowadays, 80% DEET is frowned upon (but sometimes necessary!), so you can buy repellent with 20 or 30% DEET to reduce the chance of cancer. I use roll-on REPEL so it doesn't get on hands, then fly line.
Huge skill Alex - NZ is proud of you - well done
Chur Chur!! Thanks so much!!
Alex you have done it again, great fish, great photography.
Thanks so much mate🤙
Brilliant video - Golden Brownies, (sorry Stranglers). Absolute loved it & a yet another solid feed for the all too real daydreams ,, and ambition.

It really doesn’t aye!
