    Those leeks must be impersonating sunflowers 😄.

    Nice to see how you're prepping your brassica bed, I've had some trouble this spring 🤔
    Pity about the rust on garlic, but at least you got a huge quantity of them 😊
    I'm growing Lemona courgettes, too. I'll keep an eye out for your progress with them, its my first time growing this variety
    Happy gardening 😀💚🌿

      Hi Maiju, good luck with the Lemona, first time for me too, so it'll be interesting to see how we both do. I'm having to think about how I store lots of the garlic and will probably be freezing and dehydrating most of it. As you say though, the harvest amount was good so I'm not complaining... too much 😂 😂

    I think this year we need to be thankful for any harvest we get, large or small. It seems like the cards are stacked against us.

      I has been a challenge so far but hopefully the summer season will even things out. The main things I'm concerned about are the aubergines, melons and watermelons, as they're taking so long to get going.

    I find the bungy ropes work well for keeping the netting tight around the bottom as the wind always batters mine.

      I haven't tried bungee cord for this purpose. Do you just wrap it around the side of your raised bed?

    A lot of my garlic rotted away over the wet winter though I've got some nice bulbs.

      It was wet and damp and cold for so long wasn't it? I think lots of people have had garlic issues in the UK this year.

    That garlic looks great to me Chris! I have given hard neck garlic one more year in our garden and have decided to stick to soft neck from now on unless i can find a shadier spot for them.
    Is that black hose the same width as the blue hose you can get?
    Thanks and take care!

    • @veggieplot
      @veggieplot  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes, it's more or less the same, just black, which I prefer because it blends in. I do have plenty of blue which I think is easier to find, but I tend to use that on my other allotment.

    Those Artichokes look fantastic unlike my shrivelled probably vine weevil infested.

      Oh no, that's not much fun. I couldn't seem to grow them for years and then they just took off. Plants eh, who'd have 'em! 😂 Just keep trying, I'm sure they'll work it out at some point.

    nice garlic haul. why do use black netting rather than blue, green etc?

    • @veggieplot
      @veggieplot  6 місяців тому

      Hi Amelia, I just prefer that it blends in, unlike the other brighter colours. No other reason 🙂

    Is the greenhouse watering system working.

    • @veggieplot
      @veggieplot  6 місяців тому

      Hi Martyn, I am using the Hoselock grow bag waterers this year in the greenhouse and they're doing really well as always. The growbags I am using are now peat free, so I have gone back to using them. My homemade system worked well once I swapped out the j-cloths for proper capillary matting but they're in storage at the moment. No room for them either... I need a bigger greenhouse 😂 😂

      Meant those 2litre drip bags which you set up.

    • @veggieplot
      @veggieplot  6 місяців тому

      Ah, sorry, yes, they're doing really well and certainly helped while we were away. I would advise only using tap water though, as I filled one with water from the water tank in the polytunnel and introduced tiny bits of dirt into the tube. It hasn't been a problem but the water also started to go green and the bag needed a good clean out.

      Good to hear, so they are worth buying.

      Yes, they work for short breaks but in the end it depends on your use case. I talk about them in my latest video too if it helps 👍🏻
