Man I found this album the same day little brother went into this hospital last year. I was so excited to share it with him. Walked around the perimeter of the hospital for days and now I listen to this in remembrance of him. I love you Lil bro. RiP 6/27/19

What Sampha did here is truly remarkable. With only 15 minutes of his music, I already felt like I'd been with him along the painful process he sadly had to pass to finally get to this amazing demostration of what music really meant to be. Thanks NPR for all this concerts. Greetings from Peru.

    Like the piano
No one knows me like the piano in my mother's home
You would show me I have something, some people call a soul
And you drop-topped the sky, oh you arrived when I was three years old
No one knows me like the piano in my mother's home
You know I left, I flew the nest
And you know I won't be long
And in my chest you know me best
And you know I'll be back home
An angel by her side, oh, all the times I knew we couldn't cope
They said that it's her time, no tears in sight, I kept the feelings close
And you took hold of me and never, never, never let me go
'Cause no one knows me like the piano in my mother's home
    In my mother's home

    Blood on me
Ay, oh, I am, ay, oh, I
Grey hoodies, they cover their heads
    I can't see their faces
I can't see, see, see, see, see
    They're near me
    Look, sweat on my head
    My heart's thumpin', drummin'
No need, no need to take from me
Don't throw the paint on me
    I see this lake formin'
    I got lost astray
    In this forest runnin' away
I slip up, I'm on the edge now
They see me, and I nearly
I nearly lose my grip, but you held on to me
And you shake me, and tell me that I'm okay, but
I swear they smell the blood on me
I hear them coming for me
I swear they smell the blood on me
I hear them coming for me, for me
I wake up and the sky is blood red
    I'm still heavy breathin'
Felt so much more than dreamin'
I get up, they're at the edge of my bed
Yeah, how did they find me, find me?
They said there's somethin' bleedin' in me
    Somethin' screamin' in me
    Somethin' buried deep beneath
Well I need to, need to get away
So I get it, steal this get-away
And I accelerate, and I accelerate
    But my gears got stuck
    I'm on this road now
I'm so alone now, swervin' out of control now
    And I crash the whip
And this tree flew through me
    Arms out, you pull me
    And wipe my wounds clean
I swear they smell the blood on me
I hear them coming for me
I swear they smell the blood on me
I hear them coming for me, for me
Ay, oh, I am, ay, oh, I am
I swear they smell the blood on me
I hear them coming for me
I swear they smell the blood on me
I hear them coming for me, for me, yeah

Pain creates incredible music. People who have never experienced true pain, true heartbreak and true lost should know this as the reason their music might not be hitting. Good music comes from pain because it is something we all experience. Triumph brings a deeper appreciation to that music. But you can't experience one without the other.

When I discovered sampha it was around the time this video was released. It was a time when I was quite immature, and I had many issues buried. I tapped on this video not knowing that Sampha subconsciously managed to speak to a vulnerable and undiscovered part of my soul when I was still a teenager. It is a wonderful feeling knowing of the impression art can have on a person.
