Contrary to the previous examples, in "Non è proprio così", I'd say "proprio" is used to downscale the entity of the mistake that's being poited out, rather than emphasize how much wrong it is. Basically, I would translate it as "It's not quite like that". Moreover, sometimes "proprio" is used like "very", whenever you are referring to one specific thing: "Sei diventato proprio ciò che avevi giurato di distruggere" ↔ "You have become the very thing you swore to destroy".

Per esempio: abbiamo la frase "Maria va alla spiaggia con sua cugina e il suo cane" e noi la confrontiamo alla frase "Maria va alla spiaggia con sua cugina e il proprio cane". Ci sarà una discrepanza tra le due frase no? Nell'inglese non ci sarà una discrepanza, ma nell'italiano ce ne sarà una. Nella prima frase resta inteso che il cane è della cugina, ma invece nella seconda frase, noi capiamo che il cane è della Maria. Vi prego scusarmi se mi sbagliato. Non sono un madrelingua. Sono una studentessa belga e sto imparando la lingua per la mia laurea triennale.

In this context “ punto” represent the place from where you are vowing , exactly like “ point of view” in inglese. On the other hand “punta” is the top point edge of a tool, like the tip of a knife or a screwdriver etc... and it’s feminine

I am studying the book by Alberto Angela "I Tre Giorni di Pompei". Today I came across two sentences with "proprio" used as an adverb with different English translations and I would like to share them. The first sentence is "L'ammiraglio supremo, il capo di tutta la flotta, abita proprio in questa base e non è inusuale incrociarlo." I came up with "proprio" meaning "lives right on the military station". The second sentence is more predicatable "Ed è proprio l'ammiraglio Plinio il Vecchio (così lo chiameremo anche noi) che è venuto ad accogliere la donna." In this sentence I interpreted "proprio" as meaning "exactly" to give emphasis to who was the admiral who welcomed the woman on the boat. Proprio is one of those adverbs that I have to look up all of the possible meaning whenever I encounter it in literature. This video was very helpful since today I encountered two sentences with that adverb on the same page.

Anche se si può dire "Ho una mia propria attività" (dove "propria" deve ricevere lo stress), è molto più frequente dire "Ho un'attività mia" (dove è "mia" a ricevere lo stress), o nel caso volessi dire che l'attività è mia e di nessun altro, o per correggere un fraintendimento, cioè l'attività è solamente mia, allora "Ho un'attività proprio mia".

Hello Simram! It’s “mi piacciono...” because piacere is actually the passive version of like in English. I mean it’s the sunglasses that “do the action” to be liked, so piacere is conjugated to 3rd plural as sunglasses are
