Your grasp of the nuances of English is SO impressive.
Mano, you are really the BEST Italian Teacher I have ever seen! I mean it!! Awesome and pretty useful video as always! Grazie Mille!
Grazie! How many new words did you learn? 😊
@@italymadeeasy Great question! The new interesting phrases that I'm happy to learn them today through your great lesson are:
Penso di si, Penso di No , e cosi , ti augoro e sei un bambino educato, first time I get to know that polite means in Italiano, educato!!
💪Benissimo
Sono d'accordo con te
You're so good at breaking down all the different definitions for the various ways "so" can be used. Context is key so this is way better than me just trying to look up different definitions in a dictionary. Thank you this was super helpful!
❤️
That's good to know that adverbs do not change gender. I'm glad you took the detour to explain that!
😘
@@italymadeeasy I love that lasts yeah bro
If you think about it this way, an adverb modifies a verb which does not have a gender and an adjective modifies a noun which does have a gender. So (😊), that is another way to remember it.
@daCubanaqt Oh, yeah, duh! That makes total sense, thank you!
Still being early in my learning journey, it sometimes takes so many conscious steps to break down what I'm saying or why I have to say it in a certain way. Some of it is so easy and flows well and I don't struggle over. And every once in a while it's like 😵💫🤯😶🧐🤔😣😫😪😮💨🥴
Luckily that's the joy of learning! I love that feeling that my brain is streeetching and absorbing more.
What a great help this lesson was to understand the many ways “so” can be used! Thanks for the various examples you gave!👍👍👍
I learned so many phrases here! Even if I only remember five for now, my speaking has been enhanced!
😅👍🏽
It's not that bad 😊
the "blablabla" did it for me, best videos to learn ever!
Extremely well presented. Thank you!

Ciao .. sono fuori tema ma ho una domada

Manu sei grande! Ti auguro di restare così per tutta la vita.

Excelente explicacion en el uso de expresiones como las que indica usted en esta charla. Algo similar sucede con el español, ya que tenemos muchas maneras de decir lo mismo, dándole un mayor adorno, a veces hasta poético a nuestros idiomas.
Muchas gracias, y sinceras felicitaciones por sus enseñanzas.
Echoing others comments here, I find you very detailed in your explanation and context. You have helped me understand Italian 10 fold
Grazie mille, caro Manu per le tue spiegazioni interessanti! ❤️

Grazie🤩
Just discovered this, amazing! Will be following more lessons. Grazie!
❤️
I love it 😁😁☺️
This was epic, Manu! I had a decent grasp of several of these usages before, but the most clarifying examples for me were the "so ... that" versus "very" meanings. Each one of your videos not only delivers knowledge and practical help but also is a testament to the richness of the language. Sono MOLTO (SO!) grata per i tuoi video solari in questi giorni grigi! Grazie assai, Manu!
Gatto Nero! Il tuo commento di supporto è sempre presente! Che bello, grazie! 😍Hai trovato qualche espressione che non avevi mai sentito prima? 😉
@@italymadeeasy Si' -- "dunque"! Viene direttamente dal latine, vero?
Complimenti, sì! Ha origini latine 😉
I have asked Italian speakers "What does allora mean?" and they don't seem to know how to explain it. I think you have made me realise what it means and in what context it is used. Thank you.
Bene! We are so happy about this! 😊
Glad you're ok, I was hope all is well. Was wondering if you were ok since there were no vids for awhile.
Especially because of this pandemic. Grazie per la lezione!
Grazie Colette, you're so sweet! Better late than never, eh? 😊
Thank you! Much to learn and practice here.
Thank you so much!
The problem seems not to be that there are many ways of saying "so" in Italian, but that just one word in English stands for many things!
That's a general problem, for us italian speakers, not limited to the word "so"...
Not a problem, simply a different language 😉
@@italymadeeasy certo, il cinese è più difficile...
@@marcotagliavini9128 Not a problem, you have been conditioned to think it is a problem. Italian derives from Latin and has more language flexibility.
@@jaytrees7304mmm, probably your answer to my comment is a demonstration of another linguistic "problem", or the semantic difference of similar words in different languages: in italian the word problem is not always "dramatical", it means many times a simple "difficulty", not an "enormous problem" ... in italy "problema" has probably a less semantic force than the english term "problem"... excuse me for my poor english ! Au revoir!
Wow your videos are comprehensive and clear and entertaining, teaching myself Italian wish I had found your channel sooner.. grazie!!
So happy that the video taught you something that you didn't know, Francine! Is there anything you would like us to talk about?😘
@@italymadeeasy the part I have a hard time with and have to continually review is pronoun use and word order .. Using “che” in sentences that in English you wouldn’t need the word.. so “che” and pronouns tricky for English speakers.. ❤️ thanks
We'll consider your suggestion, grazie! 😘
Salve a tutti. Io imparare così tanto grazie. Sto imparare l’italiano per 3 mesi
Hello Manu, I was looking some sites to review information about Italy -as im planning a trip there- and somehow i got to your channel, which I find it very interesting the way you approached to teach the language. I live in Canada but originally I speak Spanish; my Dad was from Italy and I have some vocabulary but not enough for a conversation. Thank you for all your hard work to put all this together. Regards.
❤️ have you ever visited our website? You'll find many interesting things! www.italymadeeasy.com
Brilliant video, thanks! I'm still a bit confused about which to use when I mean something like 'in order to'. For example: 'I work hard so that I can pay my bills'.
A great lesson Manu but the sub titles were distracting! Can they be turned off if we require? I have saved the lesson so I can refer back to it. Brilliant. Thank you very much.
Bravo Manu, grazie!
😊
please I like your videos, What is the name of the application you are working on?
La lezione era cosi interessante che l’ho guardata molte volte 😀
Ahah quante?
Grazie mille! Molto chiaro e molto utile!!
Conoscevi già qualche espressione, Lisa? 😊
@@italymadeeasy si, uso 'cosi' spesso e anche davvero, quindi, allora. Mi aiuta molto di capire meglio "talemente" ma anche gli altri affinche posso sentire piu' naturale.
Che bello! 😍
New video pls i love them so much
❤️
I have been struggling with cosi / so for a long time and this video taught me a lot. Grazie mille Manu!
We are so happy about it!😊
Excellent explanation 😍👌
I have a little question: as a beginner in learning the language, when should I stop comparing it to my native language? I think we all do it in the beginning of learning new language to recognize how this language different or similar to our native one and also to make it more logical and let the grammar make more sense. But the question: is there a specific level or time which the comparison between languages can be dangerous to me so it may hinder my progress in Italian? And when should I stop doing it?
ciao Eman, you are doing a great job! Comparing Italian to your native language is useful as it helps you recognise patterns of what is similar and what is different! However, we recommend to not "translate" word by word from your language to Italian, but to try to "think" in Italian as soon as possible! 💪
I always think of it in groups. If it's so/therefore then "quindi". If it's so/thus then "così". If it's so/well (or basically a filler) then "allora". That may not cover all cases but based on Manu's video I'm not too far off!
G'day
I listen to your Italian videos on you tube slot, great teaching! What is the equivalent for so in Italian in the following sentence:
After playing football for an hour or so,...
Many thanks
"Dopo aver giocato a calcio per un'ora circa, ..." 😊

Cosa ti è piaciuto di più, Rod? 😚
awesome explainations!!! But question: Why isn't it La piace il gelato al ciccolata? The third person feminine direct object pronoun? I watched your LI/Lo La/Le video so I a confused by the use of the plural here?
Ciao Mary Jane! That's because "piacere" has a different constructions, which require indirect object pronouns! We created a Masterclass on this topic, if you'd like to check it out! ua-cam.com/video/zG-6pA3-gHk/v-deo.html a presto ❤️
Liked It!!!!
Io capisco quasi tutto, grazie!
Thank you for sharing this video.. Im still learning italian, living in Sicily. My main problem is i can understand italian but having a hard time saying it.. Piano piano...♥
Piano piano💪🥰
Thank you so much Mano for the free PDF!! I have downloaded and printed it out and was surprised to ser that you have also provided excercises and the answer at the end! To make sure that we have applied the lesson practically on these excercises! Wow, that is really very generous of you to do so.
I was nicely surprised to see that you have an office here in Houston. Do you provide Italian language classes there? If yes, I would appreciate more info please.
Ciao Azza. Grazie for your kind comment. So glad that you liked our pdf! 😊. We don't provide italian classes in Houston but visit us on italymadeeasy.com, you will find all the information to learn Italian with us! Un abbraccio 😘
@@italymadeeasy Okay, got it, thamk you so much Mano!
😘
Bravo e grazie! Una domanda: "Quest'anno viaggeremo in Italia, ho iniziato a studiare con Rosetta Stone tre mesi fa" Penso di dovere usare "così" perché la clausola fa parte d'un pensiero più grande.
Ciao Jeremy! In this sentence, both "così" and "quindi" are correct! ☺️
Love this video and how you explain everything so clearly! I had to laugh at Penso di si. Why is the “di” there? Because we just need it… 😆
Ciao Manu, come si tradurrebbe "so long as" in italiano? Finche? Boh. Allora, questo video e' pieno di esempi sull'uso di so, dunque, grazie tanto. Tom
Could you also say “non penso di sì” to mean “penso di no”? Or would this be incorrect?
Apologies if this has already been asked in the questions but there is to many for me to go through.
Many thanks for all your great content.
Buon anno Manu! This video is awesome!! It really makes it clear. You are brilliant at giving great examples. One question I have is to do with “I don’t think so” -I was watching something on Netflix and noticed they said “ No...non penso” Is it better (or more correct) to say “Penso di no”? Thank you.
Both solutions are great 😉
Cia Manu, ho una domanda, per favore. In the little exercise at the end of the PDF lesson, the answers given to # 1 and # 2 are "cosi''", but I thought in both examples the statement was using "so" to mean "very" or "really", so I was surprised. I thought very and really were DAVVERO, PROPRIO and/or MOLTO? Why were the answers COSI'? Also, is that a Chicago White Sox cap? Good choice, I live in Chicago and the Sox are going to win the World Series this year! They are loaded!! Brazie mille! Bill
Ciao Bill, Thank you for your comment. "Sono stati DAVVERO sgradevoli" is a possible solution 😉 BUT please remember that in the PDF - for the first sentence, for example - you should guess among: COSÌ - DUNQUE- QUINDI - ALLORA. That's why "COSÌ" is the answer!😉 Okay? 😊
@@italymadeeasy Sorry but that's a strange answer to Bill's observation. The PDF says to use davvero, proprio or molto as intensifiers. In the video Manu goes so far as to say "don't use cosi in this situation". In the first two exercises, "so" is used as an intensifier and you tell us the correct answer is "cosi". I'd suggest that's more than a little confusing!!
Hi Russel. We are SO 😉 sorry for the confusion. Unfortunately this is one of the things that can happen when talking about expressions that can have slight variations, depending on the situation and the intonation of the sentence! In this video we have summarized the main ways of translating "so" in Italian. Manu has given instructions which, as always, also leave space to logic and to the variability of situations and contexts. In the examples we are talking about, "so" can be translated with "molto" or "davvero" or "veramente" ... but since it is an exclamation it is also possible to use "così". The exercise also serves to identify, within various possibilities, the most correct one. Here it was important to understand that the other alternative answers were absolutely incorrect!
Grazie, Manu!
Grazie a te! Ti è piaciuto il nuovo video? 😊
@@italymadeeasy si! Mi piace molto! I dont speak Italian fluently yet, will do one day! Un Giorno! 😁
Sicuramente!!! 😊
Ohhh! So cute 🤗 di si ,di no 😊

Hi Manu, Another great episode thank you. The one question I have is where do I locate the .pdf notes? I have searched your website but cannot find them.
Geof
Bentornato!! Tutto bene?
groetjes uit nederland, love the vids
Sì, Manu
Perfetto!
This is very helpful with the modes of some expressions. Can you speak the end of sentences a little more slowly, SO, we can hear those words that often sound as if they are blurred together? Honestly, this is the kind of clarification that’s needed to understand colloquial language.
Hi Deni, I use the Italian subtitles so that I can see what was spoken. Then I play the video again, without the subtitles so that I can become familiar with conversational speech. I suspect that Manu is already slowing down his speech for us who are learning Italian.
Ciao, Mano! Sto imparando a parlare in italiano. Sou do Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷
