M J my scalp and hair somehow is better because i wash them less often, from 1x daily to 1x or 2x weekly. I also stopped using hairdryer at all (i used it everyday before). I also change my shampoo to SLS free shampoo and become very mindful of ingredients of shampoos i use. My friends told me that my hair looks so much healthier and looks more black (it used to look more like ashy brown or grey due to heat damage and very frequent washing with shampoos choked full of SLS)
This is another weird tip but i spray thermal spring water on my scalp after washing my hair. It helps get rid of garbage deposited on our scalp from using tap water

I only wash my hair once a week, but I don't even know what SLS is. What is that? Do you have a certain brand of shampoo or spray that you might recommend? I'd love to check them out.

Dr. Dray, I’m in my mid 30’s, I’m very fair, and I just bought my first face sunscreen today because of you.
I never thought to use a daily sunscreen as I work indoors, and live in a colder climate. But after you mentioned how you wear it everyday even if you are only in the sun getting in and out of your car and you pointed out how silly it is to spend tons on “anti-aging” products rather than just wearing your sunscreen, I decided to go buy some.
It’s a Neutrogena one that you mentioned, and I will try it out tomorrow and let you know how I like it.

I want to say thank you for recommending the Zapzyt cleanser. I had my 15 year old using CeraVe SA Renewing Cleanser and we saw no improvement with his acne. We then tried First Aid Beauty Blemish Control Cleanser and pads. He liked that cleanser, but again we saw no real improvement. I then got him the Zapzyt and within 5 days we noticed a big difference. He is now on his second tube. I have him using the Zapzyt during the week and on weekends the First Aid Beauty Blemish Control Cleanser. I figure he likes the First Aid Beauty cleanser and it gives a little break from SA. He then moisturizes with Vani Cream Lite. Yes, I would love to see which BHA products you like. Thank you for all your hard work.

I am extremely dry (not as far as flaking, but just very dry) on my face, and I can't use an acid on it no matter what I do (toner, wash)... it's not for me (it never worked either). BPeroxide, that worked but was *so* darned messy (bleached whatever it came in contact with). I remember going to the dermatologist in my late 20s early 30s and he proceeded to prescribe me topical antibiotics immediately (in a thick lubricating cream) and not anything else. In me my (cystic) acne turned out to be hormonal, so a birth control pill (even just a light one) worked just fine for me. I still kept the topical cream around for occasional break-outs, if an when I had them. I have to say, I did go on BC for a slew of other hefty reasons (severe PMS, heavy bleeding + iron shortage), it just happened to coincide for me.

Is it a good idea to use Salicylic Acid 2% in conjunction with a Niacinamide serum? Thanks for all the great info in this video! You're the best!

Great info as usual. Thank you. In going thru your list of recommended sunscreens, you have one Neutrogena product which is not the one I use. I’ve been putting Neutrogena clear face on my face and neck and it seems to be working quite well. The main thing I like is that it doesn’t clog my pores. Are you familiar with it? Opinion? Thanks

Oh, I know you only use BHA, but I thought you might have some more info on the AHAs you listed in the AHA vid. Or, maybe your opinion based on the ingredients. I’m waiting to get in with a dermatologist, so I’m in the market for a worthwhile AHA product to add to my skincare routine. Currently, I’m using CeraVe SA and La Roche Posay Toleraine Ultra and Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream for the day. I’m still looking for a sunscreen because I’ve been too afraid of it, but now I know that it’s likely only chemical sunscreens that gives me contact dermatitis (I’m also photosensitive). Anyway, at night I’m using CeraVe Foaming face wash and the same moisturizers from the day with a sulfur-based spot treatment. I’d love to add an AHA for the evening until I can get Tretinoin. My skin is ance-prone, and I get post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

It would be soooooo helpful to me if you could do a video on Accutane and ideal skincare during accutane treatment. My 16 year daughter is on her second treatment (her acne came back after the first treatment) and while she’s not suffering too badly with dry skin or lips I’d like to know how to help her have the best skin she can. Her pediatric dermatologist gave us some handouts on suggested moisturizers but didn’t really get into specifics. Thanks.

So informative! So, I have a question. I own a cake studio, and I burn my arms on the oven on a regular basis. What is the best first aid for burns to minimize scarring (especially on skin types that tend to get hyper-pigmentation if someone breathes on them...:) ) ?

Dr dray! Love your channel. Do you have any thoughts of pineapple enzymes? I have battled acne and oily skin my whole life and alba Botanica pineapple enzyme cleanser is the only thing that got rid of it. It has fragrance but my skin loves this product. I can’t figure out why it works so well for me. But all anti-acne-formulated products have broken me out.

Very interesting and helpful 💖I have rosacea prone dry skin but also i have blackheads on my nose and kp bumps along my jaw line so i thought 2% salicylic acid wash would be good idea for kp. Also i discovered that my face wash has salicylic acid. Never caused irritation but didn't cure kp. Will this wash method work for me ? What are some other methods for rosacea prone skin with kp? Maybe differin ?

I have sebhoreic dermatitis on the scalp that I treat with a prescription salicylic acid shampoo. Can I put some of that on my face in the shower and wash it off since only a short exposure time is needed? The shampoo has been incredibly effective, my scalp has been normal for years now as long as I use it at least twice a week. If only I could find an acne product that worked so well.

I have changed my routine thanks to your amazing videos. I am a makeup wearer, so at night I do the double cleanse method then use a moisturizer. I wanted to know if at night I use my salicylic acid after my face wash to the needed areas if this would be okay? Also if I don't use the salicylic acid in the morning what do I use to wash my face? Thank you for always taking the time.

Thanks for all you do to provide us with invaluable information regarding our skincare. A request though: could you comment on a supposedly rare skin condition which I have and what I can do to stop or slow down it's progression. It's short name is DSAP ( Disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis ) It is starting to affect my face in many areas, as well as my arms and legs......not my torso. Any suggestions to help the spots not seem so noticeable and to maybe stop or slow down their progression. Thanks so much.
