League starting this for sure! I havent played a caster in a couple of leagues. Worst case, i will reroll totems or siege ballista but im hoping i wont have to lol Thank you for the PoB!
Hear me out: Firestorm of pelting archmage. I know it's a fire skill, so you essentially lose all the base flat damage from the skill, but with the buff, you can have 10 of them up at once, 13 with enhance, and if you go double curse, even that fire damage won't be so bad. This is my plan for a league starter. It is probably going to fail, but I thought it would be fun.
Thanks for the informative video. It helped a bunch as I don't know anything about Archmage builds, let alone with it's rework this League. One thing I don't see brought up in any of these "Archmage League Start" build videos are possible builds to pivot out into should the reworked gem not pan out. League starting a reworked or brand new gem is always risky, which can lead to a bad League experience for regular players if their chosen starter was a wash. In the case that Archmage Hierophant doesn't work out, are there alternative builds the ascendancy can pivot into with minimal cost? Anyway, thanks for the content and have a great League ahead.
Awesome video! I saw from Conner Converse that lightning conduit of the heavens and storm call may also be viable options. Question: Is something like channeling with cyclone only ever needed when switching to indigon?
@@jugaming3808 aha, thanks - I saw someone (Conner?) mentioning that you want/need channeling to get up the mana use to a higher level so that indigon really gives you the bang. But that makes sense more now with your clarification.
Good video! We need a build idea for MoM Manastack Scion version, i rly want to play on scion with this conception. Can you give me some pobs for this plan pls?
do you think a blade blast of unloading archmage would work? hiero has 100% cdr on brand recall, and with automation suport it will be nice to automate it plus arcane cloak to keep bv charges up it also has 250% dmg effectiveness for the archmage flat dmg to shine
Hey @Telvanni, thank you for this, it is great help. Can you provide an alternative to Mindspiral helmet though? I expect that many people will league start a mana-stacker that it may be expensive (and not worth it) to get on days 1-3.
I don't see why you couldn't run Crackling Lance. The build Archtype seems to support most lightning skills (apart from the list of skill types Archmage cannot support.)
My POE knowledge is limited to say the least. Could you do some kind of lightning to cold damage conversion to use frostbolt instead of a lightning skill?
If you really want to try lightning to cold, the best choice will be two pairs of "Call of Brotherhood" with 20 elemental damage catalyst on each. This ring has been used in many cold to lightning conversion builds. However this is going to be very sub-optima on a mana build in many different ways: - Call of Brotherhood are very difficult to work with, since the ring itself is quite weak compare to other options you have, especially as a manastacker. (chaos res, reduce mana cost, max MP/energy shield, curse on hit) - One of the greatest feature for cold damage conversion is Hatred aura. However, lightning damage couldn't double dip with the Hatred like physical damage do. You'll also have the problem with eternal blessing support as it only allows you to have 1 aura. Many other lightning to cold builds are often stacking both wrath and hatred. Hatred alone on lightning to cold conversion doesn't really have a competitive edge compare to Wrath. - If you tends to run this on a cold spell, what you're really converting is the extra lightning damage you gain from archmage support and arcane cloak. I think you'll find more success by just running the cold spell with archmage without the considering conversions at all. Although in this case, your cold spell are mostly acted as mean to carry out the lightning damage. This mean that a portion of the spell damage (base damage from cold spells) won't get the full benefits, unless all the bonuses you picked are for all elemental.
@@edwardtan7283 Thank you very much for this information. I am looking for a more traditional spellcaster that focuses around frostbolt so based on your information I will consider a different approach.
I don't think Tornado would work as well as Orb of Storms. Orb of storms syncs with your Lightning Conduit cast speed to consistently apply shock every time you hit. Tornado has a hit rate of once every 0.25 seconds and I don't believe you can increase that. It would probably result in a dps loss and make the build overall clunkier to play.
Yeah I'm torn too. Lightning Conduit looks very fun. But the versatility that comes with Hierophant, coupled with Sanctuary of Thought making sustain much easier to handle, makes Hierophant seem very strong. Palsteron also just released a full build guide for his Ball Lightning Hierophant. Worth giving it a watch if you're interested in Hierophant.
Really like your cideos. But I should warn you that with inspiration support and that mana cost on your forth cast you will loose all inspiration charges, so damage from that support wont be that reliable
Absolutely...You connect it to Arcane Cloak and automation. Then you stack surge effect with Arcane Blessing and the arcane capacitor cluster for a shit ton of more spell damage since Arcane Blessing scales with Arcane surge effect.
@@5ean5ean22 but you're already getting arcane surge everytime you hit something, even if it's less powerful than a 20/20 gem right? Why not use something else?
@@ryan17stehle The Arcane Surge Support Gem grants you '25% more Spell Damage while you have Arcane Surge' and that is a huge boost that you don't get from the Arcane Surge buff from the ascendency node. If you check the other support gems you will see that there is only one stronger (non-awakened) support and this is Elemental Focus, but Ele Foxus prevents you from inflicting shocks and that means less dps.
@@MotU_Shosha Arcane Blessing says: "Arcane Surge grants 20% more spell damage to you." It's basically the same as the support gem. This is why I'm wondering why we would use the support gem when taking these points.
5:04 I go over how the build is actually quite flexible with what skill gem you use and that I only really slotted Arc in here for nostalgia. 5:50 I talk about the other Gem setups I'd recommend.
it's an generic archmage setup, you can fit any spell you want on it just by making small changes on the tree to fit the spell tipe(aoe>proj>duration, etc)

slotting lightning conduit into an endgame archmage setup, it's actually the second best when it comes to self cast
Please do make a full guide with leveling!
Hi! Congrats for the video, sounds a good build! What do you think in terms of going to 10% insta leech node near elementalist start?
After watching Palsteron's league starter I think it would be solid, especially for anyone running a skill with a high hit rate.
I waited for this, thank you!
