I'm in Pf I've been looking at these bikes, surreal...
Kinda leaked the goldwing dudes number just so ya know yam
being a tall dude and beginner bike doesnt exist. not if you wanna be ricky bobby on 2 wheels nom sayin?
You should do little craigslist reviews of beginner bikes in major cities.
Man, Venom Motorcycle’s in PR crisis mode 😂
It is my life's goal to destroy them
I would be against supporting the CCP Nazis even if they did make good products.... But they make garbage. Japanese or junk IMO. If it's Italian or British it's at least nice junk, but still. I'd sooner buy a Royal Enfield than a Chinese bike
@@yammienoob 😂😂
Be going out of business soon 🎉😂
@@yammienoob bro playing with his life 🤣🤣. They definitely kill u
Love it. Cheap bikes can be had. 3 years ago, i purchased a 2002 yamaha fz1 for $1,500. It needed new tires, new battery, and a good cleaning. I still have that bike and its been the most reliable vehicle ive ever owned. Starts instantly every damn time.
Can confirm I got an FZ6 from my buddy and that S.O.B wouldn't die if you launched it into orbit and recovered it from the Atlantic Ocean
Yam, you should consider doing this as a ongoing segment once a quarter or twice a year type thing... I really like your "crusade" to show people that there are still lots of solid bikes for good deals out there. Showing examples of what you think looks like good deal bike and what looks like a "less good" deal bike is a valuable resource for the prospective newbie rider. I'd watch more of these type of videos.
@@bobhill3941 My '72 CL350 was fun for short rides. The buzzing in the grips was fierce!
End of My first year riding, I bought a 85 Goldwing LTD 1200 as my second bike. Took me the winter to get it running and road ready. Had been sitting 7 years. While the four cylinders are 35 years an older they still are fast for their weight, are really reliable, still comfortable and to me a lot of fun to ride. Their not a desirable bike, my buddies make fun of me for it since I’m 21 and it’s a grandpappy bike.
Looks like the used market settled down a bit. A year ago, It was hard to find a 150cc bike for under 3k. And a lot of Harleys owners trying to get 20k-30k for a 17 year old bike
I think the main reason people buy cheap Chinese bikes is because the websites offer financing for people with bad credit. None of the bikes you just showed could be purchased via programs like Affirm or PayTomorrow. So not only are people buying cheap, crappy bikes, they are also paying a lot more because of interest and fees.
I bought a KLR 650 with all the extras and safety gear for 4000
96000 miles 😅
Your timing on this content couldn’t be more timely and on point….you have no idea. Thanks man. (Lifan KPM 200cc out, used Honda NC700X in)
i paid $1300 all in on my chinese hawk 250 in 2017. still have it and have done some upgrades to it like replaced the carb, got the digital dash and changed the sprockets. i took my test on that bike, and it is solid at that price point. it came in a box shipped to my house. that motorcycle was the perfect bike to learn on. the only problem i had with it was the rear tire innertube went flat on me twice.
Now, I'm from the UK and I've been looking around for a 400 for a few months now since my old bike got stolen. And this video really rings true. I could get a Chinese shitbox, but not too far from where I am, is a 1989 Kawasaki GPZ305! It's basically original, runs great and the real kicker? £2500! What a steal!
Thanks to all your videos they are awesome.
I really enjoy these kind of videos. Thanks
Just picked up a 2008 Suzuki Bandit 1250S with ABS, 9700 miles, from the original owner, who is 73 years old, and also gave me all the dealership service records. $4000.00
About two years ago, I got myself a 2007 Ninja 650R with about 15k miles for only $1,500. About $300 in parts and paintjob and the bike looks like a proper streetfighter.
The deals are out there, just gotta have a little luck. Love your channel Yam.
Excellent suggestions sir
Always loved the Craigslist videos lol
I bought a Lifan KPM 200 last year as my first bike, put about 800 miles on it and I still love it. I can see I will want some more power down the line, but as is it's really fun to ride. Much as I wanted an old Honda scrambler all the possible repairs weren't worth it and stressing over that while I'm still learning to just ride it made it a pass on anything used.
It's pretty affordable for a brand new bike, which I really recommend, later on I'll certainly get something I may have to fix up.
I bought my kpm200 from venom over 2 years ago. 4000 miles later and she’s still going. Yam is just a scum bag that doesn’t understand the importance of having new motorcycles like this that us poor peasant folk have to buy and keep well maintained. He says his mission is to destroy the company, but my experience with them is nothing but positive. He’s the least popular of the two guys that used to main this channel.. glad S-Corner is doing better and growing his own channel
Around me, people are asking $4700 for a 2008 TW200 with ok miles. Some areas have no deals, unless you want to pay $4k for a 20 year old poor maintenance bike with the original tires...
I may want to learn to ride just for the videos you do. Cool work you do.
My first bike was an 1975 Honda 400f, never skipped a beat. last year i bought an Yamaha xj900f 1991, 57000 miles. i paid $1800, this is in Denmark where the cheaper bikes as the Mt07 costs $14-15k new. Price was dropped from $2600 but it runs great, and has been looked after, so i am happy with it. Thanks for the video, i find this to be a great subject, and i do love that you put these cheap a** Chinees bikes to shame, and shows them that not everyone is for sale, i respect that.
I bought a 1982 Gold Wing Interstate in 1985. It was a pleasure to ride. I paid $2500.
It would be cool to see a video of what to inspect when buying a used motorcycle
Yammie has one and fortnine has one. I'm sure others do too.
Just bought a 1998 VFR800 with 46k miles on it. I paid $3500 The guy I got it from was a bike nut. His riding bikes were amazing but his collection of bikes that he didn't ride were even more incredible. The bike is in incredible shape and this guy replaced a whole bunch of stuff that was age appropriate like front fork seals, rear shock, sprockets and chain, etc Plus he fixed some of the known issues with this age VFR like the regulator otherwise the bike was bone stock. I put a 18" stainless Delkevic slip on exhaust and now it sounds amazing. This bike is fantastic to ride and it turns heads. all for $3500 in Northern California were everything is expensive.... Yam is speaking truth here.... good bikes can be had for pretty cheap still.
Actually considered buying a Venom Motorsports chopper bike because I was desperate to ride for the first time. Glad I didn’t, I ended up buying a 2021 Rebel 300 . I love it
Thank you for this video and for showing off that venom bike
If you look around deals on quality Chinese motorcycles like CFMoto are currently available. Within the last month I've seen some of their 700cc series bikes for barely over $5000. Dealer fees are going to bump up the OTD price but for their smaller bikes the price difference between something used or a new quality Chinese bike may be worth the guarantee of a trouble free purchase.
20-30 year old japanese bikes are better then brand new chinese bikes
My first bike was an '03 Kawasaki ex-500. It was VERY amenable, but I found the acceleration to be a little spooky (when I was brand new). Now, in retrospect, it is ridiculously slow. I'd say the streetfighter *mod* the owner did would fall into your usual list of "distasteful" mods, but this is a very clean example!
I have owned two of these bikes. The 250 nighthawk " Can not be killed by conventional weapons." and I had three 71 thru 73 CB 350s. Two ridable one parts bike for two hundred dollars. I was young and beat the living crap out of the CB 350s. I used them for everything. They were street models but I used them as street and trails. good times. You have to admit there is something cool about kick starting a street bike. I was thinking of going across the country and I was looking at a couple of old Gold Wings. They are good deals. That adventure is on hold for now.
I love the looks of the old school Goldwing!
Yeah, but how many of these bikes actually have clean titles? Or work as advertised? I think a big part of the reason people go for those cheap Chinese bikes is because they're more "hassle free" then visiting 6 different listings, finding out 2 of them don't actually have the title, 2 of them don't have a clean title, 1 of them isn't working like they said or has tons of issues, and someone else just ghosts you.
I just bought a 2000 Shadow VT1100 bobber for under $3k. Love this bike
Several years ago I bought a vespa for my daughter. She hated riding it, so I turned it back to the dealer and traded it heads up for a 2007 SV650 with 9K miles plus a new helmet. Great ride. Lots of great used bikes on the market.
Suzuki boulevard s40: I got mine for $2,200. Cheap, super reliable, and since it's a 650cc so it's suuuuuppppper fun. Honestly, a great beginner bike that I love to ride and still manages to look good.
We used TW200’s in my MSF class. I had a good time on it, definitely imagined it would be a ton of fun to bomb around a farm or something with. Would be a little sketchy on the street.
I bought a 2004 triumph sprint rs 955i for 2k last month. I was looking at Japanese liter bikes and everyone wanted 6k+ for theirs so I settled on the triumph. I absolutely love it and would recommend at least the RS/ST to anyone looking for a cheap sport touring liter bike
My first street bike was a Honda VFR 800 from 2002 with over 84000 miles on it. It needed a little repair work, fork seals, wheel bearings, brakes, tires, coolant hoses, thermostat,, and a bit of cleaning the oil out of the airbox from heavy handed application of K and N oil. It ran good and was fun to ride until someone stole it right out of my driveway.
That GW is sweet!
Yam, I like your thoughts. Also, in Australia it possible to register an older bike on club/vintage reg. I don't have the confidence to buy a new/newer bike right now.
Austin must have a very good used bike market. Here in Tampa area, all the bikes are more like the last one on this list. Lots of repairs needed.
Picked up my 2004 honda cb600f "hornet" with less than 30k on the clock for 2500$.... waaaay better than ANY chinese bike!!!
just picked up a 94 honda magna with 40kmiles was dumped at lower speed but i only paid 1400 for it not terrible it runs stops and gets me there needs new bearings in the front new pegs new air box chrome housing and speedo housing but for a 750 cc as a beginner its pretty nice i love it also learning how to be more confident wrenching by myself
I would definitely like to see how some of these older bikes hold up if you were to buy one as I am in that market myself
I started on a goldwing like in this video 4years ago and I am looking to upgrade this winter
I've recently bought an LXR125 (Dec2022 model, not the older version that had issues) as I'm in the UK and that's the most power I'm allowed to ride until I take my full licence (I know, it's weird and it sucks)
I'd be really interested to see what YNs take on it as it's Chinese, inexpensive, but so far I've had zero issues other than a couple of the cable and chain setting in / stretching which were quickly fixed at the dealership I got it from under warranty (they didnt even charge me for this!)
I had a selection of bikes, but after much consideration this was what I landed on because I don't think I could have got this much bike for as much value as other bikes, and despite being a 125cc it still has dual front disks (combined braking) and has enough power and grip ready for me to upgrade and not feel too out of sorts on a larger bike (I've ridden slightly larger bikes so this isn't my first)
My first bike I bought for $1800, 600cc shadow with 6k miles. and that included a bag and helmet. It was a great beginner for really cheap. Actually sold it for more a year later
It's not the same, BUT I picked up a 1985 Honda V65 Sabre and it is a beast. Definitely not the best starter bike, but like the Goldwing, it is A LOT of bike for the money, and it is gorgeous!
Yam, do it! Buy the Goldwing and vlog a long-distance tour on it.
Cheap motorcycle tours are the reason I love Bikes and Beards.
I have the ninja 500 Gen 1 1987. 60k miles and still doesn't miss a beat all year round. Engine is bullet proof.
i have 1989 ex500, great bike. its faster than most cars and fast enough to keep up with most bikes. no problems and extremely affordable. i am a big fan ❤🏍️
That Honda VFR reminds me of the red bike from the film Akira. If I was savvy enough to repair it myself it would be a cool buy
There's plenty of videos here on YT that shows you how it's done, it's not rocket surgery. 😉
A new OEM headlight can be found on ebay, and a new brake master cylinder and lines too.
Man. I loved that Goldwing. If I lived in the USA I would fly out to Austin to pick it up. It would be worth the price of the holiday.
I bought a 96 katana 600 with 4,200 miles but it's been sitting for almost 10 years with fuel in it for $1,350..
So I had to rebuild the carbs to my best to restore the tank and a bunch of other maintenance but it looks beautiful compression is good so once I finish the carbs it should run perfectly. Hopefully!
Bought a suzuki bandit s 600 2,5 years ago as a first bike for €1000. Still rides great
I'd love a vfr for that price. Looks like an easy fix. Bm and goldie are beautiful and well worth it as they will probably do 100000 more miles easily.
Here in Pennsylvania around Pittsburgh you can find great bikes under 3,000. Hell even 2000 there’s really nice full size bikes for sale here.
I'm all about getting used bikes. I bought a '98 Sportster as my first road bike for $3000. It has been running flawlessly since I got it a decade ago (my friend now owns it). The used market is awash in used Sportsters that will run forever.
The BMW was a sweet deal same with the ninja 250 hope you make a content comparing used bike vs a new china bike ride safe!
love my ninja ex500. got 45000 miles and no problems ever. its plenty fast. best thing it was 600$ and ten years + continuous riding with no problems. it was a track bike too
I got my 2014 ninja 650 for 2800....my only maintenance for a year of it being my daily here in the 808? I had to re tighten the mirrors. Maybe you should consider making a video of bikes that you hate that you would still buy over that chinese 250!!
Did cycletrader and Craigslist for 200miles less than 3500.. 1 bike made in 1982 needed a bunch of work too... tell me again that's better than my Amazon bike. I love that raggedy thing
you guys can also buy RE Himalyan or Meteor for something close, for brand new
A friend that has an Africa Twin DCT, that is kinda huge for bopping around town.....has bought a 155 cardboard delivery chinesium bike....
Thing is that little thing has more pep and go than the CB 500X.... untill you hit the dreaded 70 mph.....But hey, you find gems in every heap of trash.
Also would have loved a list like that of bikes at such somewhat good prices
I found a 2003 Nighthawk 750 in my area with 1,400 miles for $4K. It was beautiful. They are the perfect do everything bike.
hey yammie these ninja 250s were never fuel injected in north america sadly, great bikes miss mine. Europe got FI we got carb.
I got myself a 1982 CB750C as my first bike for $1200. I'll have about 800-1000 of TLC and maintenance in it but I'll have an awesome 750cc for ~$2200
Those old cb's rip dude! I got an old '76 cb550 for $1200 five years ago as my first bike. A bit of a fixer upper, but it was an absolute blast on the mountain switchbacks and a great bike for cruising around town
Got pretty lucky stumbling into my first bike. Found someone who had bought a Ninja 300 to ride with their boyfriend. They split and she didn't ride it much. It was a friend of a friend and they let me have it for $2,500. It had less than 2k miles and has been a great bike to learn on. I would never give a Chinese bike in a box a second thought.
I started put on a 09 Ninja 500. It was a great bike
These are all waaay better than my first bike 😂 Bought a 2000 R6 like four months ago that sat outside for years, was laid down, more zip-tie than plastics, and had questionable mods and "repairs" 😅 currentlyy elbow-deep in fixing it (againnn).. but how could I resist an $800 R6?? 10/10 beginner bike, super fun super safe, highly recommend😇
After selling my 2020 Z900 for almost all the money I paid. I took a 2 month break and bought myself a 2003 Suzuki sv650 with less than 5k miles with original Tires white letting on them still on the bike. It's a time capsule, I love it only $2,200
My first bike was a 2019 ninja 400 that had 400 miles on it for $3,200. Literally not a scratch on it and I bought it and late 2019 also. Then I sold it a year later for $4,500 with a few thousand more miles on it. Best deal ever haha
Try for the ragged axx VFR and get it for a bottom dollar price. You can track day it after you fix it. Provided you don't see anything on your inspection of it before you pay for it, that looks really ugly. Great video series. You might make this something you do every few months.
that firs ninja is literally the same bike as my father's first bike. a black 2008 Ninja 250r. thats really cool imo
i got my 2005 suzuki s50 cruiser for 1700 bucks. no issues at all with it, perfect no scratches etc.
Yup sticking with my 2023 venom 22GT 😂 love the looks and that it’s brand new I’ll upgrade to a ninja 400 or 650 in a yr or 2 😁
Yammie, I know it's old but I found a 82 XV920RH for 1K ish. My beginner bike. And it great condition.
Are any of these EFI and low milage? time to see....I don't have much hope though. First bike is over a decade old lol.
I've bought 3 used "legendary" "indestructible" "bullet proof" Japanese bikes and so far all them shit the bed real quick 1000s of dollars lost when I've sold them, but my Chinese dual sport that I bought basically new still runs mint and I've put thousands of miles on it. Buying a used bike is not like buying a used car, every mile (even if its not many) on most of these bikes have been HARD miles. Also have yet to hear anybody on UA-cam bring up the fact that most bike shops have policy's and wont work on bikes over 10-15 years old.
Chinese dual sports are the exception in my opinion, even with the gremlins. Some even come with EFI.
Mines efi, I have zero regrets, got me on 2 wheels, developed a love for bikes and with putting it together gave me a slight understanding of how to work on them, learned valve adjustment, learning tire changing etc, even bought a second one although I own 2 Hondas
a very underrated bike is the suzuki tu250x...can be easily found for around 3k...fuel injected, classic looks, reliable...and decently fast...no abs though
That would make a fun series. Eventually, there is always a great deal to be had on an old man's motorcycle. Unless it's a Vincent.
In my country many people buys brand new Chinese bikes. Especially Peda bikes. The most common is the Peda tek 125..."they are new and they are looking cool" I guess is the reason. But the funny thing is that most of those people sell their "new and cool" bikes within the year. In some local ads of a used bikes here, I found on the first 6 pages, 7 Peda tek 125 on sale bought in 2022. Wonder why..... 😄
I'm just glad I bought my motorcycle pre pandemic. Prices these days for the exact same model and mileage are almost 3 times what I paid.
Not a beginner bike but I got a 08 600RR for 3k with 20k miles and I’m in SA so you know how crazy the used bike market is.
In 2008 I bought a brand new off the dealer showroom floor 2008 Ninja 250 for $2500. I think their MSRP price was $2995 but sold for less. I should have kept it had I known it would be worth $1000 over cost in 2023.
Yo yo Yammie now you talking Great content my G but the thumbnail 😭😱🙈
Goldwings have a certain appeal, you can get sweet ones any day for $2000 or so, but I don't see myself riding one much. The mileage doesn't even matter on a Goldwing until it hits maybe 150,000 to 200,000 miles. Then you might be approaching engine rebuild time.
ngl that ninja 250 with that milage could be sold to a large diller to be displayed as almost a museum piece as quite a important bike in history of motorcycles in US
Pay for a chinese bike? Why do that when I got a free Royal Enfield.
On a serious note, I do have fun telling people I can get a $3k chinese bike, but why would I do that when I can get a freaking $2k goldwing.
Making fun of the tw200 rear drum after recommending the dual drum honda! Lol
Spit my lunch out at the all caps 73 Honda 😂
Got myself a Kowasaki Versys 650 used for only $2500 to learn on and while the Yam likes to make fun of it, I love riding the thing.
That Honda 350 CL, BMW 1100 RS and Four Cylinder Gold Wing would be worth a serious Eye Ball.......with cash in hand;
Mr. Noob:
Tks. much.
I bought clean 1997 900rr Fireblade for 1400€ and it only needed a new stator and rectifier. Clean original bike only mod is a slip on can on it. People don’t know how to fix and literally giving away good bikes that have minor issues.
Other bike I found is a 1998 Cbr 600 F3 for 440€ that had a ticking issue, loose valve clearance thats all. My GF loves the bike.
Ok, need to admit I have run a motorcycle tuning shop back in the early 2000 and worked as a car mechanic in the nineties. Good god thats nearly thirty years ago. 😮am I that old.
I’m going to start on yamms H2 as my first bike… I’m here for a good time… not a long time….
Is Yammie expecting a child soon, I felt a lot of dad energy in this video. Wanting a BMW RS or Honda GW for touring!?
Used Tdubs go for like 3-4k in my area of rural Ohio 😬😅
I'm 2 seconds in and I know my bike will be on the list. Vstar 1300 baby!!!!
I bought name brand used $2200 for my 1st bike.
Craigslist buy. I feel I got an awesome deal and even got the bike delivered to me for test ride as part of the price.
Thank God I didn't buy china ) online bike. Maybe later as an experience I will buy a bike in the box but not now.... Lol
