Ericsurf6 I have to tell you time I went to Japan. I was at airport. I was thirsty. So I went to a vending machine. I was really wanting something cold and refreshing. I was only around 10 years old by myself. I ended up getting hot chocolate. It was good though. I seen noodle shops look so good. I did not have enough money.
You know Eric around the time that you uploaded that video my mother was diagnosed with stage 3 chronic leukaemia and I went into complete depression when I found out and just everything seemed like it can never get better, she had exactly 8 months to go maybe even less depending on how the days go by, me and her watched your videos together and I remember watching this video and she was moved by how happy and enthusiastic you were about 2018 she wanted to make it through it cause you made it seem like it’s going to be the best year to come, thankfully now it’s towards the end of 2019 and she’s still fighting her battle against leukaemia and we still watch your videos together because even though it’s as simple as eating and reviewing food it’s your enthusiasm and your excitement that’s makes you one hell of a UA-camr man Get some :) !!
Hi I am just seeing this after you posted 9 months ago. I pray that your mother is still living now in 2020. May God completely heal and bless your mom. In Jesus Amen🙏🏽
Osechi is not just about its taste or flavour but the fact that each ingredient, colour and each way of cooking has its own meaning for your life. And you know and explain very well about the cultural side of the food. Absolutely love your video !
Most of shops, restaurants and supermarkets were used to be closed to celebrate A New Year in Japan. So we had to cook preserved food during the period. Those food were called Osechi cuisine. As most of them are opened lately, we are not in troubled to buy any food, but we have been still keeping the traditional custom and culture.
I love the customer service in Japan, it's always 110%. It's something that needs to be replicated around multiple places around the world. Have a great 2018.
Eric, thank you for showing us the content of these New Year bento, now I understand why customers were lining up for their orders. This is like opening a gift!
I noticed everytime I click on these videos I find myself eating something. I get so hungry just how he eats his food and just much he's enjoying every bite makes so jealous. Lol
Love the whole thing the beauty the elegant box's , the art of it is so awesome and amazing it's just such a graceful beauty yet so delicate I am beyond jealous.. Would just love the boxes alone.
Happy New Year! I really enjoyed seeing you in traditional Japanese dress and speaking Japanese . The boxes looked incredible! I also appreciated the explanation of each one. Here in the south (US) it is traditional to have collard greens, black eyed peas and cornbread. We also had ham . The collard greens represent getting paper money . The peas are coins and the cornbread is gold for the new year. I assume from your other videos that all the boxes were room temperature. If they are to be eaten over a few days do you put them in the refrigerator? Thank you! Best wishes.:) get some!!!
Can't begin to say how much I enjoyed this video! My mouth was watering! Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you and your family whatever the previous years couldn't!
I just wanna say Eric, you have been part of my childhood and was one of my first youtubers to ever follow, many MANY years later and you are still kicking ass! keep up the great content and may you have an awesome 2018!
Whoaaa cant believe that 4 box of food can cost $2000! But when i watched this, hmmm make sense. I mean there's dash of gold in your black bean and one whole lobster! And I really admires how Japan put everything in a plate and make it beautiful.... Its like an art in a box and what's more good is they can eat them! Last but not least, HAPPY NEW YEAR, ERIC! I hope in 2018 you and all your family life full of blessings and have a great year ahead! 🎆🎆🎆
I thought more UA-camrs would make or buy osechi but I didn’t see as many as I thought so thank you Eric. If my sister can buy some of the hard to find stuff when she visits Japan next year, perhaps I’ll try to make my own version with less sugar and only the items I like. It amazes me that my mom did this every year when we were kids. She must have missed home since she came to Canada in her 20’s. Happy New Year Surf Sixers!🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🎉🎉🎉🍾🍾🍾🐮🐮🐮🐮
That's amazing no one else on youtube has ever shown this before not even John from only in Japan. I'm glad you shared this with us(even though this is a slightly older video)
Just watching this with my Wife Michele and loving the food in those Boxes,, I am so Jealous, you Rich UA-camrs LOL.. We need to do some Roo Bento Boxes Fusion foods, sounds like Fusion Fun. Thanks for Visiting our Country and I hope you had a great time and everyone treated you well.. All the best Steve
Sadly, I didn't have a new years "feast", but there's always something satisfying watching EMT videos. Always a surprise, and great food! Keep up the great work! ❤
Happy New Year Eric!!! My new year resolution is to spend more time living in the moment and less time worrying about all the things I have to do. Spend more time enjoying my little girl who is about to turn two, and to believe in myself a little more. We don't have much, but my household has been blessed with giggles and the pitter patter of little feet. I'd love to be chosen for a snack pack, and receive a little piece of japan. It's my dream to go one day. Even if I don't, I will continue to enjoy your videos and live vicariously through you lol. Happy new year! ❤❤❤
Happy New Year! My resolution is the same every year and that is to: Continue to improve my art and get further with my projects. Man, those boxes of food looked amazing. I know if my household ever got the chance to go to Japan for two weeks, I'd want to go during the weeks of Christmas and New Years.
May your new year be happy and bring wellness and wealth. My new year tradition is celebrating my birthday with pavlova and lots of fresh summer fruits. Peaches nectarines, passionfruit. Cherries. Kiwi fruit.
HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LIVE for MY FAMILY, MY FRIENDS, and MY CUSTOMERS! My New Year's resolution is to listen more than I already do, if that is possible and care more if that is possible! Love watching your videos! The whole family loved your hot food vending machine videos! Thank you for bringing Japan to us!
maybe this year you can do a collab video with Simon and Martina? I'm sure it would be fun and you could show them your favourite place to eat in Tokio maybe?
I'd love to do a collab video with Simon and Martina~! Maybe you could help me out by commenting on their videos. "Please do a collab video with Ericsurf6".
impaled sea snail carcass "in't that cute?" severed crab claw "look how cute that is!" U R weird, but I like it. I really love pickled and sour flavours so I think I would like a lot of the items in this box! New Years in Japan seems exciting. And tasty.
I love that you go in for a second bite even if it's something you didn't like the first bite just to give it another shot. I need to start doing that! As silly as that is, I think that's going to be in my New Years resolution... To try and be more open minded with food. I used to be vegan.. But when I started dating my boyfriend over a year ago he opened my eyes to sushi & seafood. He's been crazy open minded with trying lots of my vegan or vegetarian dishes I make every now and again.. So I think I need to start being more open minded with food he likes to eat that I might find weird.. Who knows, I might end up liking it! I said that about Crab and lobster and now i'm obsessed!
Happy New Year. It's great seeing you eating with such gusto, unlike other people who've been abroad for so long but can't even assimilate themselves with the local foods.
Rooter's Backyard you would probably be better ordering the ingredients to make one yourself , unless you don't mind it being not completely fresh , it might take a day or two to arrive , but I've been thinking about doing that too so hopefully it works out :)
The boxes are beautiful, seems well worth the money if you enjoy seafood. I personally don't like it but i think the way they box it up is really nice! Happy New Year!
Good ole USA country cookin'.....hog jowl...blackeye peas...greens and cornbread...supposed to bring wealth health and happiness all year!!!! (not so sure about the health part...lol)
Happy New Year and have a wonderfull blast year!!!. this year i wish i could change the way i treated people and be kind to all those who in need. Spread the love from Malaysia

Chris A _Operation Get Sexy I could never see it happening in Washington, Tyne & Wear.
@@ericsurf6 I have an odd question to ask, can you eat that soup with a fork and spoon or does it have to be Chopsticks?
Ja, you are right, but who in the western world is ready to pay for it?

I'd love to do a collab video with Simon and Martina~! Maybe you could help me out by commenting on their videos. "Please do a collab video with Ericsurf6".
sure :)
Anima oh ya that would be Awesome!
Ericsurf6 I also will comment on Simon and Martina's channel!👍
Sorry to say, but I do not think that's a good idea. Totally different vibe. He'd be like awkward dad with the cool kids.
The trays look amazing and will put them on my wish list
Every New Year's in Japan they are available. I'll try a more deluxe one next year! LOL
Ill bet $$$ to donuts that EVERY business in Japan opens its doors EXACTLY like the 1st one in this video. Not ONE SECOND late !!!!!!
Awesome vid Eric
I was cheering for you to go through all 4 boxes! Hope this year brings a lot of good food, good people and good memories for you :) Stay awesome!
Can someone count how many times he says "mhm"
Megan Sampson totally agree ,, so many says mhm****
More than 2
or "yeah"
38 times
Makes me want to slap him, also the amount of food he stuffs in his mouth.
Just subbed because I appreciate all the knowledge you share about the food. Keep it up.
impaled sea snail carcass "in't that cute?" severed crab claw "look how cute that is!"
U R weird, but I like it.
I really love pickled and sour flavours so I think I would like a lot of the items in this box!
New Years in Japan seems exciting. And tasty.
I love how you taste something and don't like, but keep eating it. The facial expression says it all
It's amazing how much detail n effort Japan puts into everything especially this... I'm a sucker for food n detail♡ this isawesome!
I think here we eat black eyed peas for good luck, I have been missing out.
I love that you go in for a second bite even if it's something you didn't like the first bite just to give it another shot. I need to start doing that! Happy New Year Eric. Loved this video. My wife and I are in a period of transition and will take all the happiness we can get.
Happy New Year. It's great seeing you eating with such gusto, unlike other people who've been abroad for so long but can't even assimilate themselves with the local foods.
気付いたら40分経ってたwww
chasing those snails with a beer is the perfect thing to do !! ( Cod, or "Tara/鱈" )
'Does look lovely, But also looks like a stomach ache in a box!'
Everything in there was delicious.
Come on, it's really disgusting. Let's be honest.
Literally love watching food channels like yours
Eric I have been watching your videos for ages now!And I must say they are so informed
Can I order a box online and shipped to US? All looks amazing and thanks for the fun and interesting videos. I'm a subscriber too....
AJ Rooter I doubt it that’s really fresh uncooked sea food
Rooter's Backyard you would probably be better ordering the ingredients to make one yourself , unless you don't mind it being not completely fresh , it might take a day or two to arrive , but I've been thinking about doing that too so hopefully it works out :)
I've noticed you've been saying "mmhmm mmhmm" lately. Just a casual observation. In my neck of the woods people eat tamales, posole & biscochitos.
"mmhmm mmhmm" Good observation Tina! Maybe I'm over doing it...Thanks~!
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2018 😀🍜🍱🍒🍕😜
@ericsurf6 it's fine, just a little amusing to notice
Honestly ignore them, I was thoroughly engaged in all of your commentary, subscribed instantly days ago.
Ericsurf6 yes the mmhmm was quite annoying. I stopped watching the video because of it.
It was defiantly getting on my nerves as it went on.
He say mhmm a lot 😂😂😂😂
mmmhhmmm yea
The boxes are beautiful, seems well worth the money if you enjoy seafood. I personally don't like it but i think the way they box it up is really nice! Happy New Year!
Japanese new year celebration is huge excitement and full of traditions.
Who else thought the octopus was a puffer fish
Wow......just wow!
Are the food in the box warm?
Calvin Hoang Room temperature, all of it's prepared ahead of time.
How pretty are those boxes and the customer service there is 💯 thankyou for sharing 💋 lots of love from London 🇬🇧
So awesome! I’ve been watching different osechi videos because of your video.. never knew about this tradition! Awesome!
Happy new year!
Good ole USA country cookin'.....hog jowl...blackeye peas...greens and cornbread...supposed to bring wealth health and happiness all year!!!! (not so sure about the health part...lol)
At least Black eyed peas are full of protein and fiber..Greens have good vitamins... That is healthy ha.
Masterpiece meal, looks almost too good to eat.
Happy New Year and have a wonderfull blast year!!!.
this year i wish i could change the way i treated people and be kind to all those who in need.
Spread the love from Malaysia
Thoroughly enjoyed this video Eric!! Had fun watching my favourite youtuber enjoy a MASSIVE FEAST fit for the kings!😃
Lol why do it seem like everything chewy in Japan
Because they steam or boil a lot of their foods.
I'm soooo hungry now 😩😂😂
Good video
Happy new years! I've been coming back to your channel for the past week to watch Eric Meal Time episodes and finally decided to subscribe today!
My plan for 2018 is to be smarter with my money/start saving money again 👌🏽
Your Japan food videos always make me wish I could afford to travel there.
Thanks Amber
50% Of the video: Mmmhmmm usually a lot tougher than this, Mmmhmmm, etc. Main point is that he keeps on saying Mmhmm alot of the time
I gotta cut that out. Thanks Pooper!
"Thanks 💩er!" I lol'd so hard.
Mmmmhmh yeah......dude say something different because it's annoying! Expand your vocabulary or something. And for the love of God finish eating one thing before shoving another in
Dose camera man eat?
Camera man always eats.
Camera person moves around so quick and only stays on dude's face. They both have the shakes 😒
明けましておめでとうございます😆✨
