- Here is my Pelikan M1000 Renaissance Brown Review and Detailed Writing Experience. I waited a bit between unboxing and writing sample videos so that I could have a good period of experience with it. Hence the different ink :)
Of course, these are just MY thoughts. I welcome any questions.
I do not participate in retailer affiliations etc. However, I do give credit, where credit is due. One thing I must note, is that I got this pen from Appelboom. I ordered it shortly after release, and got it within 4 days. This in my area is 3 days faster than Amazon Prime. I appreciate the very fast shipping by them.
Fabulous review, great perspective ! Thanks for taking the time to post it !
Thank you for kind words!
Beautiful pen Shak! I've been so tempted by the M800 version (better fit). Today I received my long-awaited M805 Ocean Swirl so I'll enjoy it for a bit before I jump into the next.☺️ Beautiful handwriting as usual. Cheers!
Thank you! I think the Ocean Swirl is a perhaps a better looking pen :) ;). They should make more of the 1000 size like that -- Not the 4000 dollar Makee versions.
@@Shak-MD 100% agree! 😊
Reasons why I appreciate your videos:
1) Jazz
2) writing samples
3) writing INFORMATION about the pen and ink (that’s what I look for) not “the quick brown fox…” (that makes me cringe!)
4) excellent photography
5) artistic style
6) your excellent critique of pens
I take notes on ones that interest me.
Classy work! Thank you!
Thank you. That is so kind of you. I take feedback seriously 😀 and have been working on improving audio.
so much great info, what a fantastic video. i just ordered that inkwell after seeing you showcase it - always pick up useful tips from your videos and this was no different!
Awesome! I carry a few of those in my bag when I travel :)
Oh, magnificent! Thank you so much for reviewing this pen. Having gotten the Yard-O-Led Viceroy Grand Victorian earlier this year (and, seeing that the price has risen yet again, not a moment too soon), I think I'll watch and see if an m1000 comes out in brown pen stripes. Best to wait for what I really want.
Thank you!
I know what you mean 😀
Lovely writing and good review. Thanks. My hands prefer the M 800 size. Have them in the green striped, my favorite also; the blue striped; and that burnt orange from a few years ago. Love that one, too. Nibs are broad, stub/Italic, and medium respectively. Wanted to love the stub more, but I think the flaw was mine. Bought these long enough ago that you can see light through that green and blue ones. I seem to remember that with a very strong light, I can imagine the ink level on the solid color burnt orange.
Thanks!
This one seems like the burnt orange then :).
I, too, wish they kept the ink window. 😪
I’m excited to see the next M1005. I’ve never been a Renaissance Brown fan, though the material is very pretty.
Me too :) Brown tortoise shell maybe?
@@Shak-MDbrown or black tortoiseshell would be the dream.
@@TheMagicalSock A Black or Brown Tortoise 1000 would be freaking killer haha!
Thanks for this pen! It’s beautiful. I have the Pineider ink well and love it.
Thanks! It is a great pen in its own right 😀 .
For me I'll go with black, it has an ink window. I was at my local pen shop last week. I looked at Pelikan M1000, Visconti Homo Sapien Dark Edge and Montblanc 149. I was drooling over the M1000. Montblanc 149 is light and looks kinda plain compare to the M1000. I also looked at Aurura Optima, its alright. Very light not to my liking. It's a Grand Seiko of pens. You buy it after you buy your other grail pens IMHO. Great video by the way.
You had me at Grand Seiko! Love that watch....one day 😀
I have the iconic green stripes and I absolutely love that pen. I love that pen enough to have paid the premium for a second M-1000 to add to my collection (The EF Renaissance due to me this week 🎉). However, I totally see your point, THIS is the material that started it all back in 2017 when they first released it on the M800. But during those 7 years, many makers seem to have hopped on the popularity and excitement the material brings about and have very similar looking pens. SO, where as this one might not be as iconic as the green stripes, it does give me some excitement to have a new bird to add to the flock ❤❤❤ AND…. The new stripes versions of our beloved birds are NOT transparent which completely knocks the icon down a peg or 2. Enjoy your beautiful pen, I look forward to playing with mine shortly.
Very nice review ! That extra fine nib looks perfect. I got the fine on my Green Ray and it writes more like a medium-broad. Is this really the midnight blue ink you mention (?). It looks more like a turquoise here. Lovely !
Thanks. The ink is MB Azure Blue. I noted in the description that I took some time in between unboxing and writing samples and changed the ink. :) . I love the m1000 size. Thanks for watching 😀
Top notch review, thank you very much.
I'm glad you liked it! Thank you for watching!
Actually, I find the Extra Fine to be the best of the M1000 nibs. It writes a much wide stroke than it size would suggest.
Also, as much as I LOVE the M1000, I have always found the cap material to be a little thin, what is the cap like with this special release?
The cap on this one is just as thin and light. It is semi transparent, similar to the ink reservoir.
Wow! Congrats!
Thanks!
beautiful pen! I have the m1000 in extra fine as well but alas it is in the boring (classic? haha) black. Do you think that luck plays a part on whether the pen writes anything remotely close to extra fine?
I've had the width reduced already and am trying to resort to drier inks to get the lines thinner while applying the lightest hand I can. It's had medium impact (pun intended)
Black is not boring. But green is so classic. M1000 has a tricky nib. If you grind it, you reduce the chances of repairing the nib when it distorts [I have one not grounded, but hard to fix]. I recommend a grey ink, or mb midnight blue. Works good. Though I use m1k mostly for the joy of writing. Cheers!
@@Shak-MD Thanks for the response. Beautiful handwriting as always. Thanks for sharing your art!
I have seen and held this pen. I thought the pen was a little slim for my liking. The nib looks nice though I’d opt for the broad or a 1.5 stub if available.
There is a broad, but I don't think there is an option to get the stub. You may be able to find that as a spare though :) Cheers!
Hi Shak.... Does Joost at Appelboom ship with DHL?
Yes. DHL express. Wicked fast. Faster than Amazon "Prime".
