- Hello, my name is Mirna, and welcome to my first UA-cam video!
In this video, I'm unboxing my new Pelikan M1000 fountain pen in Renaissance Brown that I've ordered from @AppelboomPennen and was pleasantly surprised with great customer servise and how quickly the pen arrived to me.
I am a Croatian living in Canada, and my name in my native language means calm and peaceful, and that's how I am naturally. Planners, journals, and fountain pens are bringing extreme joy and calmness to my life, hence the name of my channel. Hope you like it here!

This pen is a gem
@ispasmihai8643 It really is! 🙂 It will be in my fall lineup of inked pens! Soon to come.
Absolutely love this, pure joy and excitement opening a stunning new pen. Congrats and enjoy
@FuturesTrader87 Thank you and thanks for watching! 🙂
I pre-ordered the M1000 Renaissance Brown as soon as Pelikan announced it, and it was delivered to me about 2 months later (in June 2024). This pen is glorious, the resin is stunning and the gold accents complement it perfectly. I picked mine with an EF nib, and I'm not disappointed at all. Yes, as always with Pelikan, the nib writes larger than its "EF" size suggests, but with the right ink, I got closer to what a western extra-fine should look like. I had to try several inks before I found one that not only suits the pen well in terms of color, but also gives the pen the writing characteristics that I wanted. And J-Herbin "Café des Îles" is that ink : a beautiful dark brown that is on the drier side, and that allows for a nice fine line while still providing pooling and shading. With the bounciness and the juiciness of the nib, this ink gives me exactly what I was looking for, and I love the whole package : the M1000 Renaissance Brown is super classy, super comfortable, usable on pretty much any kind of paper, and it just writes like a charm.
I hope you're still enjoying yours, as much as I enjoy mine every single day.
Thank you for watching! I don't know how I missed this comment. I still use mine every day for journaling and longer writing. Sometimes, for quick notes in my planner, too. It truly is glorious, and I agree, the Café des Iles is the perfect ink, too. I have it, but I haven't yet gotten a chance to try it in this pen. I'm currently using Sprouce County Post ink from Ferris Wheel Press in it, which is a nice wintery green, and the combo is magnificent! Shades beautifully. I'm glad you like your EF nib and totally agree with everything you said. It is super comfortable, elegant and classy and such a joy to use! ❤️ It is my #1 in my modest collection.🙂
Gorgeous Pen!
Beautiful job! I could listen to you all day. You’re articulate, well spoken, and you bring something to the table that we desperately need in a world full of ugliness. You appreciate and respect beauty and craftsmanship, and you wrap that appreciation with a joyful exuberance that’s quite enchanting. Well done, Mirna!!
@stevelarsen4690 Thank you! And thanks so much for watching! You just made my morning shine in this cloudy Canadian weather. I'm really glad you liked the video. 😊
Mirna, has the M1000 become your favorite writer? I journal heavily, and have been considering an M1000 for a while.
@stevelarsen4690 Yes! It's definitely become my favorite writer for daily journaling. The experience of holding it in the hand and the smoothness and bounciness of the nib gives you a magnificent feel while writing. I just love it! ❤️ It is the biggest pen in my small collection, but my most precious! For everyday planning and jotting notes in my planners, I also use smaller pens, but for longer journaling sessions, bigger pens like this one are better on my hands. It almost feels like it writes on its own.😄 I would definitely recommend getting or trying first, at least. Pelikans are amazing writers!
@@MirnasCalmJoys Thank you, Mirna. I have to look at wide girth pens these days due to severe arthritis, and I think the M1000 would be a good choice. Have you tried any of their other nibs?
@@stevelarsen4690 I have only this one of gold nib Pelikans. The other 2 of my birds are M200s, one in ef, the other in m nib, that are both excellent but steel nibs. Those might be too small for your hands if Arthritis is present.
Kakosi Mirna!
Greetings from a Croation in Australia, what a beautiful pen.
@@darkoz1692 Hvala, dobro sam Darko. Pozdrav iz Kanade! And thank you!🙂
Your English is quite fine, do not worry about it. I appreciate that you show all the contents from box. I have been considering either F or M nib, and thanks to your writing sample, I now have decided on F. Subscribed !
Thank you very much for such encouraging words! 😊 I'm glad you enjoyed the writing sample, and I hope you're going to enjoy the F nib as much as I do. It is pure joy for me.🤐❤️
I bought one from Appelboom a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love it. Mine has the M nib, which is quite wet and it's wonderful, such a thrill of ownership and a dream to write with.
@davidalexander-watts6630 Yes, exactly! Such a thrill of ownership, as you described it so perfectly. I adore mine. I'm glad to hear you love yours, as well. 🙂 And Appelboom delivers so fast and has a great customer service.
Great first video and a beautiful pen (I have one too now). Mine is also a extra fine nib and love the pen!! I have joined your channel. :)
Thank you for the support! I'm glad you liked it. 😊 The pen is just amazing. I enjoy it every morning when I journal. Have now yet to try new ink combinations with it.🙂
Sviđa mi se, video. Super
Hvala Nado! ❤
Very enjoyable video - I bought one with B nib, it’s absolutely magnificent
@thesceptic1018 😊 thank you for your kind words! Yes, the pen is absolutely magnificent! I enjoy it every day since I got it.
I just picked up an Earl Grey Benu and a think a Pelikan will be next. I love the Renaissance Brown! I just need to decide on M400, 600, 800, or 1000. There are just too many choices!
@@TheCreedBratton The Earl Grey Benu is an amazing pen, it has sentimental value for me. And you won’t be wrong with a Pelikan. If I’m not mistaken the Renaissance Brown comes only in M800 and M1000, but agree with you, there’s just too many choices. I have more Pelikans on my Wishlist for sure.😀
I have 2 M800’s in blue and green. I cant imagine the M1000 is significantly better? M800’s are excellent high quality smooth pens.
@JoeGiz64 I believe they are. I don't have an M800, so I can't compare the nibs, but it's definitely on my list of the ones to try.
Great video. Beautiful pen, gorgeous ink!! Too bad i could not find one here where i live. May i recommend Robert Oster Tea @ENDLESS PEN exclusive. Beautiful shading ink and will go well with your M1000. The color might be close for both coz of Tea color. Want something cheaper go for Diamine music set Wagner. Great shading I use it on my Estie Raven button filler. Thanks for the great video.
@fjschnitzer1 Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. 😊 Thanks for the recommendation. The Robert Oster Ink sounds good, I would definitely love to try it. I have a new R. Oster bottle in another color that I'm going to show in a coming video. If you have a chance, I can highly recommend the M1000, it's a marvelous pen!
@@MirnasCalmJoys I would love to have the M1000 in my collection but it is too expensive over here. I got my Estie Raven last month..loving it. My next purchase will be the Pilot Custom 823 in M later this year.
@fjschnitzer1 I fully understand. It is a more expensive pen. I have other cheaper pens on my wishlist since the beginning of the year, but I decided not to get them and to splurge on this one instead. The Pilot Custom 823 is still on my wishlist to get one day. It seems like a great pen. I hope you like yours. I just got my first Estie recently, and the video about it is coming soon.
@@MirnasCalmJoysCan't wait for the Estie video!!😊 I like your video, there's a lot of writing samples.
Beautiful pen. I have one with a medium nib.
@belphegor_dev I agree. Medium must be amazing, too. 🙂
Lovely large nib. It is also bi-colour and beautiful.
@@richardsimms251 It is indeed a very beautiful nib. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Your English is quite impressive
@@kiraniumbra thank you!
What a gorgeous pen! I have an M200 Gold Marble w/ Fine nib. In reverse I get a very nice Extra- Fine line it is probably the very best steel nib I have. A little small for my hand though. I need a much girthier pen for comfort reasons. Hence, this is my grail pen. You make really good quality videos! Thank you for making this one!
Please, 2 questions please? Do you find any issues with not having an ink window in your M1000? And 2, does this M1000 write in reverse well with a finer line? Thank you so much!
@jwdyss ❤️ Thank you! I'm glad you like my videos. The M1000 is just marvelous! I have a special feeling in my hand when I hold it and write with it. The M200 is my favorite smaller on the go pen that I use with my planners and agreee, one of the best steel nibs and so easy to clean and maintain. The M1000 in F nib is so special, it's my "joy when journaling pen" 😁. Glides so smoothly with a bounce, such a gorgeous line and shows shading. And mine does write excellent in reverse with a thinner line, although I don't use it for that, as I like to pick it up for journaling. I have a Fall Inked Review video coming up today where I show it more.
@MirnasCalmJoys .. Thank you so much for answering! I would love to get either an M1000 or the M800 but now that I've seen your video....well... I'm leaning towards the M1000 now 😊. I will be sure to watch for your Fall ink review video. Thanks again for answering!
Aha, you are a compatriot of Luka Modrič.. 👍👍🇪🇸🇪🇸
Yes! That's right! Luka is currently our best player! 😀
