This is one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs. It's one of the best drum performances ever. And the vocals are amazing. The vocalist, Robert Plant plays a mean harmonica on this. Jimmy Page's slide guitar is 🔥🔥.
The right head-phones are a must to listen to Led Zeppelin and other Rock bands from the time period. These songs were programmed to dance through your head with the split vocals / musical instruments. In essence You become one with the music. And in their name, the “e” in Zep sounds like step. And don’t be chicken necking, like some folks have suggested, cause your movements show you’re totally grooving, Love your channel, Woodstock Lady
Hey kid have you seen my post about Sister Rosetta Tharpe the Godmother of rock and roll and the most badass black female guitar player ever! This song was first recorded by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie in 1929, both wonderful black musicians. The lyrics reflect experiences during the upheaval caused by the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927.
Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie version: ua-cam.com/video/swhEa8vuP6U/v-deo.html. It's curious how so many of the British Invasion bands "got" Black American music when most Americans didn't, and they understood their indebtedness to their predecessors..
Yes, I keep wondering if these guys know how much of the classic rock they are digging was stolen often almost phrase-for-phrase from black blues musicians, who obviously were not getting bajillion dollar record deals like Zeppelin and the Stones, etc. Would love to see some reaction vids for those artists if the twins haven't heard them before.
Hey kid? kinda rude....I dig these young men and their excited, open minds. You are the bright future. Keep growing in your musical exploration and in your pursuits..
Crazy cool that you're so into Led Zeppelin, and that you love the range in their music. Two songs you've missed that I know you'll like, "Going to California" and "Kashmir"
In 1927 the Mississippi River flooded in the delta region of the United States. Farm workers, most of whom were sharecroppers working for landowners and living in some of the worst abject poverty imaginable, were living in that area of Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and southeast Missouri were devastated. The river easily breached many of the small dirt levees that were beginning to be used at the time and these people who already had to work their fingers to the bone picking cotton and trying to scrape together a living found themselves suddenly worse off. More than 200,000 African-American farmworkers found themselves with nowhere to go and were concentrated for months either in relief tent-cities or in cobbled together homes. This was also at a time when farms were mechanizing with improvements in machinery and the first wave of flight from the rural south to the industrial north had already happened (from 1916-1920). When Robert Plant sings "If you're goin' down South; They got no work to do; If you don't know about Chicago" he is talking about the people who had to make the decision to try and salvage some sort of life that would, at best, be the same poverty-stricken field labor or blindly migrate with the hope of finding industrial jobs in north. No matter how tough people consider themselves, people have to yield to those people. I couldn't imagine the life they lived, trying to scrape together a tar-paper shack on someone else's land, in a political system that was against them, and then to find yourself worse off because it wouldn't stop raining. We cannot imagine how tough that life was, but Led Zeppelin gives us a feel.
Historically correct and the story to which the song is based. I've read though that they had a duel purpose in the lyrics and were also referring to how everyone has a breaking point in life and when breached all traces of what was once normal will be uprooted and washed away and in this context it can be heard as a song of warning to those who are a drain and/or disturbance in our lives (be it a partner or free ride friend or just a petty tyrant) that if they persist in their ways our levee will fail and their lives will then too be thrown asunder in a swift and destructive fashion.
I've watched you react to several Led Zeppelin videos now, and I definitely see a pattern haha. Within seconds your face gets a familiar happy look that is only for them. Not that you don't have happy looks for other bands, but you have one that is your Zeppelin expression and it's always instantaneous. Love it!

You'll be shocked. It really is beautiful.(I've been married 40 yrs)married at 18 with a baby first at 17. 1979 still wasn't cool with that and we went to a Catholic school. So at 16 when he told me this was our song(when I heard it) I knew we'd be together forever. We still leave it on ready to play when either of us get in the car from time to time. And I Blare the radio and sing unapologetically. Lol. That's the feeling U guys give people. Your true feelings let us relive ours. Again Thank You!!

The greatest band ever led zeppelin the master's of rock and roll period can anyone match them no one can match them period know beatles know pink Floyd or ac dc or the rolling stones led zeppelin are master's of the instruments they are truly gifted
Fadj Darwish - sorry but No1=Beatles and No2=LZ speaking bout record sales only and in the 70s Led Zeppelin was too hard for me so i listened to Sweet,Beatles,Slade😂 but since 2011 I put the Led up and the are GOAT 4 me now. cheers from CH.
"Crying won't help you, praying won't do you no good", straight up blues, and then talking about moving to Chicago, huh, there's another song with Chicago in the lyrics, ZZ Top, talking about how Jesus just left Chicago, yeah "that Jesus ", you know the one, you really should check that song and them out, and another blues/rock song giving an honorable nod to Jesus is "Jesus is just Alright", ever since blues was created the lyricists would mix it up a little with Jesus, Do a little research when you have the time, Led Zeppelin was heavily, heavily influenced by blues, and blues performers, they're from England, but over there groups like The Stones, The Beatles , Herman's Hermits, Pink Floyd, if you ask them who they listened to growing up, they'd probably tell you Billy Holiday, Bessie Smith, Led Belly, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, many of those English groups grew up during the 1940's and 50's, when many of those blues groups were still alive and performing and actually in their prime and at the height of their careers. England was absolutely crazy over blues and later R&B and soul, they like us fell hard for Etta James and Aretha, and in doing so incorporated that in their music, and tried to sound like R&B and soul and blues. There's a group called Bad Company, the lead singer Paul, could very likely make Marvin Gaye faint. He's that good, check out "Feel Like Making Love", Burning Sky, Moving On, and Seagull. So my dear, it seems you have some homework to do,😉, but look it, its fun homework lol, you won't get bored, you wont loose interest, many of the most successful groups in history can trace their influences back to either blues or gospel, trust it, so, enjoy the journey, by the time you finish (if ever, as if, lol) you'll have not only a Phd , but a Doctorate in music, Peace✌
Just started following this channel a couple days ago and I gotta say, I love your reactions to Zeppelin the best! The look on your face says “I get it”....meaning you get why we still love their music all these years later. No other band like them. Watching you discover them takes me back to when I first heard them. Love seeing your appreciation for all different genres of music. 💙
This is straight up blues from the lyrics to the music. They are paying tribute to classic blues because a lot of their roots were in the blues like so many classic English bands. You should listen to the original 1927 version of this. This song is meant to bring that song to your attention and make you appreciate the blues.
There was a time when this music couldn't be played on AM...like too long for their limited format. So, in the Bay Area we heard a lot of stuff played no-one else was hearing. By the time this album came out it was main-streaming FM...
1. Robert never played a harp. Robert is the singer. 2. Robert played the harmonica on this song 3. Jimmy page sometimes used a violin string on his guitar. But not in this song
There is a certain appreciation for real instruments! It makes you feel some type of way undeniably! I love you guys for opening your minds and embracing this music because unfortunately real instruments and bands are almost a thing of the past! Zeppelin is one of my all time favorites! Keep listening to these gems! It moves the soul!
One ot my favorite things to do these days is watch young people discover led zeppelin for the first time. Especially the hiphop community.. nothin better than getting super high and listening to zep. Each song is a different masterpiece with influence from old blues folk soul jazz reggae and just good old fashion rock. They are the Gods of their craft and it warms my heart to see it living on. Pass it on to your children
Keep doing Zeppelin...they are the best! The singer plays the harmonica...hard to believe this is a British band sometimes lol! If you haven't already do In My Time Of Dying LIVE...OMG amazing to see!!
You can’t go wrong with anything that Led Zeppelin put out. Listen to In My Time of Dying - i’d love to see your reaction to that one. Another good one is Nobody’s Fault but Mine. The Zep ruled the roost in their day, which just happens to be my day as well. 👍🏼 I’m a 72 year old grandmother from South Carolina, but I still love my music and I love seeing you young people’s reactions to what I think was some of the best music ever made.
Love watching you guys. Keep enjoying the classics. When I started listening to music in the early 70’s I had about 4 singles and an album, The Beatles, The Stones, Dylan, The Beach Boys and Dion. Set me up properly.
When I see young men like yourself opening your mind and giving music like this a try it gives me hope in the younger generation. It also will make me try and open my mind to music you listen to. I respect what you are doing. Things like this video do more for bringing people together than any politician could. Please keep going . Great job young man.
Have you noticed the older generation in your comments? That is awesome. Bringing us all together through music....beautiful.

And I Blare the radio and sing unapologetically. Lol. That's the feeling U guys give people. Your true feelings let us relive ours. Again Thank You!!
John Paul Jones (bass player) is an absolute BEAST on this song. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. And that harmonica.. shit, damn, fuck.
I grew up with my dad listening to this music. I hated it then, now this is my favorite song ever 💯
Funny how that happens isn’t it.
This 👆
Man, this was sampled in sooooo many hiphop tunes. It's like the backbone of 80s Def Jam.
I'm 57 and LED zeppelin was the first concert I'd ever seen. GreAt greAt great music and just gives me goose bumps watching you listen and enjoying!!! LOVE your channel. You have smear for the music that's for sure.
New subscriber almost 3 times your age. I love how you react to different genres of music, I love that you love Queen, I love that you value all the music, I love that you value the instrumentals and I love that you rock out right along with the music!!
Any track on the first 5 albums is worth a reaction. :0
My thoughts, EXACTLY..
1st 6 albums are all stellar. They got patchy after that but still had gems
Rockinghorse All albums!!
another one of my favorite Led songs. If you can't feel this in your soul you don't have one.
So my dear, it seems you have some homework to do,😉, but look it, its fun homework lol, you won't get bored, you wont loose interest, many of the most successful groups in history can trace their influences back to either blues or gospel, trust it, so, enjoy the journey, by the time you finish (if ever, as if, lol)
you'll have not only a Phd , but a Doctorate in music, Peace✌
It has been way too long since I heard this song. Still as good as the first time I heard it. Thanks for sharing this one!
This song is why I vacillate about my favorite Led Zepplin song. When I listen to Levee it's my fave, when I listen to Stairway it's my fave.
The UK has given us some amazing bards, old and new, from The Beatles, to the Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin...
There was a time when this music couldn't be played on AM...like too long for their limited format. So, in the Bay Area we heard a lot of stuff played no-one else was hearing. By the time this album came out it was main-streaming FM...
You are not only connecting white and black together but also the youth of today with us old timers. Thank you! Good music is timeless.
Bruh... you need to get you some white friends to teach you the "chicken neck" rock n roll head bob! LOL! You too Legit!! Keep 'em coming!!
White Rabbit HA! Was thinkin the same thing. He will get . Give him some time. Diggin these youngsters rockn for the first time.
It doesn’t matter *how* you rock out, as long as you rock out! 🤘🏽🤘🏽
@@imweakfordeaky This. You can't tell someone how to bang😂
wheresatari well, you *could* tell them how to bang, but that doesn’t mean they’ll follow your advice! 😂😂
@@imweakfordeaky If he goes to his white friends to learn, he'll come back doing something like this ua-cam.com/video/HQu_NLRvULM/v-deo.html😂
I'm 51 in Southern Georgia and this was my jam when I was in my teens 35+ years ago . Pink floyd , Led Zepplin too many to name .
Robert blows a mean harp....
1. Robert never played a harp. Robert is the singer.
2. Robert played the harmonica on this song
3. Jimmy page sometimes used a violin string on his guitar. But not in this song
@@EthanRobbins hahaha
@@EthanRobbins lol
@@EthanRobbins He means harp, as in HARPOON, slang for HARMONICA... not the stringed upright instrument, the harp.
In my time of Dying and Travelling Riverside Blues 👍
Best band ever! Nuff said!
I love your enthusiasm watching each video. The love of music is amazing!!! All kinds too.
One of my absolute faves of Zeppelin.
So damn bluesy.....LOVE IT
That was my reaction too , the first time I heard it
This some mad heat .
One of my favorite songs on the face of this earth!!!! I am so glad I lived when this song was available!
Yessss this is one of my all-time favorite songs!! My body just wants to move when I hear it!
I got it when it came out, this is timeless, I still get the same buzz. Cheers : )
so happy to see you lovin Led Zepplin and sharing with everyone, thanks
Freakin LOVE this song! You were asking for 10K subs at the end. Noticed you've blown that out of the water now! Showing 111K as I type this!
🎧 💓 🎶
PLEASE react to "Since I've Been Loving You" from Led Zeppelin. It's my favorite song from them
Heard this 1,000 times, but just now heard it for the first tine again! Thank you
Love Led Zeppelin, it just increases your love for Robert Johnson even more!
Led Zep FOREVER! Started Still listening and I’m 57
Favorite Zeppelin song ever! Thanks for listening, I love you guys!
One second of Bonham..."Already?!"
Led Zeppelin - I can't quit you!!
Original song from 1927! From an actual Mississippi River flood...incredible. Keep up the great work...
