    All these long travel solid rear RCs have similar issues with tuning-out the rear kick. Usually it's just a matter of shock oil and weight distribution. On my 1/10 LBR I did dual shocks front and back which limited the rear travel more and slowed the dampening. I also had the dual standing on the back spares.
    All baja trucks with standing spares mount them toward the back of the cage so they're easy to 'roll off' when a replacement has to be done. Mounting further up is something done with lay-downs. Even then that can be more uncommon. The real truck this chassis is based on uses a similar spare setup, as do other popular rigs like Justin Lofton's "Fury" Jimco.
    The cage being *really* floppy at the back is an issue every iteration of Baja Rey has struggled with. I think Losi made that compromise because they wanted very shock absorbent plastic. I've seen them pretzel bad in a crash and just bounce back into shape. A more rigid design would like be more prone to breakage.
    When it comes to these TT chassis, I plan around realism first and optimize around it. If I care that much about super optimal performance, there's a reason the FIS '4wd buggy' type chassis are so universal in hobby rc

    The original ESC from the SBR is rated 8s, just not the motor. You didn't have to change the ESC for the 8s capability. If you look, it is the exact one from the SRR but the motor in the SRR is rated for 8s. As far as the spare tire goes on the SBR as well as on the SRR, I just took off the wing nut and installed a washer and a actual nut. My suggestion for the donkey kick is a thicker shock oil. Personally I don't have much problem with the kick. The SBR and SRR definitely handle better at a higher speed. At least for me.

    • @earlmoorhead5555
      @earlmoorhead5555  3 роки тому

      I put a hobbywing when it went up in smoke but I’ve only run it on 8s after I put the new esc 👍👍

    • @SebastianLong
      @SebastianLong 3 роки тому

      @@earlmoorhead5555 Ahhh, ok. The ESC in my brothers BND SBR started to act funny one day. I think water was sitting in the receiver and creating a circuit. We left it alone for about two weeks and were going to call Horizon Hobbies (where I purchased two) and was going to have them diagnose it. Instead I tossed a charged battery in it, rebinded it and it worked fine ever since. Glitch of some sort. My Super Rock Rey has a 70 kg steering servo, aluminum servo mount, aluminum servo saver, and aluminum front diff case and I've not had an issue with it since becides typical crash breakage. Broke front steering knuckle, replaced with oem plastic as well as rear link rod ends. Nothing substantial. I did do some tuning to the suspension and now it stays planted. I'm pretty happy with the current setup on the SRR and don't plan on any other changes. As far as the SBR, I'm pretty sure I've told you, but am putting a R-SNAKE 16s ESC in it with a big TP motor.

      Yes I can see the rock Rey in the Baja Rey as well the rear end kicking out under hard launches but I’m hoping I’m wrong and I might be able to adjust it so I can use it as you see my rock Rey been out twice and sits as I don’t like that style of rc and ppl said back then it’s a rock racer ?? Well now my Baja is feeling the same now they say I need a flat dirt scale area idk where I can find a scale rc track to support it this is the real world desert and the rocks are like mountains compared to this rc 🤪🤪🤪so I’ll just adjust it and hope for the best in the desert but I’ll bring my Mojave and UDR just incase 🤪🤪🤣🤣😂😂😂

  • @blindj
    @blindj 3 роки тому +1

    I got to agree with you. RC is about having fun your way. If you're fun is little drivers license plates and side mirrors Cool, if you're fun is 100 mph Cool, if you are fun is sliding around sideways burning rubber Cool. Have fun.
    I looked at pictures at trophy trucks at a standstill and running through the desert. It does seem like that RC the front is much too soft in the back shouldn't be kicking up regardless if it's a dirt jumps or a speed bump. I can't imagine the trophy truck driver doing a hundred through the desert trying to control a back end that's flying up in the air like that. I know all the fuel and all the weight is usually in the rear of a real trophy truck but this RC doesn't have fuel to weigh it down so I think maybe the springs are a little too tight in the rear. try adjusting preload or maybe switching the springs from the rear to the front if they're the same length. You know how to tune I'm sure you'll figure it out.

      @@earlmoorhead5555 Different horses for different courses :-) You have an amazing collection of rc cars/trucks. You have so many specialized cars to enjoy! I hope you get to use, modify, re-enforce and enjoy the Baja Rey 2.0 to the Max! I'd like to see you take the v1 and v2 out and compare them. Thanks.

      Yes I wasn’t a fan of open wheel rc cars I like the short course trucks better ( the look) but the performance of an open wheel I love so why not try and get both 💯💯💯👍👍👍👍

    I've seen a king dual rear shock mounted on a Traxxxs UDR
    Does anybody know where you can purchase this from? Fitting to the sbr 2.0 would be perfect

    It sounds to me like you don't like/enjoy that style of RC vehicles. If you don't like the way that scale design handles, don't purchase another Desert Racer.
    All of the Desert Racer RC's I've seen, tend to kick up in the back, particularly out of the box. Some more that others.
    It just seems to me that your complaining primarily about the performance of the style of RC and how it comes tuned out of the box. I'm yet to purchase a new or used RC that I haven't needed to tune to get it to perform the way I want. JMHO, you should have talked about what you find frustrating about Desert Racers in general.

      That’s not true as I have a lot of desert racers I don’t like a rock racer or crawlers as I don’t by them !! That why the lasernut I didn’t pick it up but not knowing this I understand why you comment the way you do 💯💯💯💯

  • @yenny527
    @yenny527 3 роки тому +1

    I agree the 1.0 does handle that speed bump better but keep in mind 1.0 was running without the spare tire (lighter back end). 2.0 was running with 2 spare tires 😳
    The 2 are designed to handle differently with 2.0 showing weight transfer more, more suspension travel like the udr. A short course truck will handle more like a 1.0. Different strokes for different folks
