I've been following this scheme for my Crimson Sons thrallband in 40k and it has come out amazing, thank you for the excellent easy to follow and recreate tutorial!
I really like how the red turned out and I'm about to try it on some Blood Angels. I think it would look really cool next to all the gold armor of the Sanguinary Guard and stuff. Thanks for another great video, I love your simple techniques for good results. Something about your techniques and style just speak to me and I've found myself imitating a lot of what I've seen in your videos. Keep up the great work Andy!
Thanks for this Andy. I've been gathering the bits to make a small heresy-era Thousand Sons force and I wasn't sure how to paint them in order to get that metallic red colour. Great work as always!
A dry brush of leadbelcher? Genius, I will now be using that on 90% of my hobby going forward. I also want to try this on the re released heresy era Ahriman, because the results are stunning
Drybrushing my favourite instant skill technique, ill give this a go on my warband when i get through that part of my backlog. Would not have thought of using gold as a priming coat for metallics ive used stormhost silver for when i did metallic purple withs a Xerxes purple wash
I have a question I see some painters paint mk 4 thousand sons with unique heads im wondering where can I get those unique legion based parts@@MediocreHobbies

Beautiful results there! The gold base definitely makes the difference, I’ve done some knights with the silver base like this but the gold gives it much better warmth? Not sure the right word but makes really improves it.
Love this! Easiest and best Thousand Sons tutorial ive seen so far. Ive never tried contrast paints properly yet but Im going to give this scheme a go. Brilliant work! My only concern is how it would translate to vehicles and larger models.
A great painting for the red nerds of prospero. I would personally add ardcoat or any gloss varnish over the red to give it more sheen for the thousand sons. Otherwise I await your take on the best Legion ever. Iron Within.
The red over the gold + the dry brush *chef's kiss* I imagine assembly lining this scheme would get you done with around 15-20min per mini so perfect for to knock out an army in no time!
Hello. Thanks again for this video, really nice and easy paint job. I don't have the contrast paint but have the full set of the speed paints, do you think is possible to get similar results? Thanks.
@@MediocreHobbies I saw a lot lf them 🙂 Especially loved the stippling one. But would that work if the base color is gold? And you are stippling contrast paint?
You should check out my black templar dreadnought video. That should show you how I did it on bigger modes. I do plan on doing it for some tanks soon so stay tuned.
This looks heckin' incredible!! I'm just getting started in painting miniatures, but I have no interest in playing the game. They will be put on display. And I also plan on painting Bolt Action minis.
This is brilliant! By far the best brush-orientated tutorial for 30k Thousand Sons
That is high praise. Thank you.

Aw great to hear that, thanks so much for letting me know that! Glad you like it!
Holy moly ! Cannot get over how good that scheme is 😳😳😳
Ha cheers pal.
Looks fantastic. The contrast red over gold is really good. You're just knocking them out of the park dude.
Thank you so much pal.

Precisely what we were looking for. Fantastic results -- thank you!
No worries pal. Glad you liked it.
Absolutely love the metallic red scheme
It is very nice.
It's crazy how much that leadbelcher drybrush made the model come alive. Love it.
Ye it’s always the little touches that do so much. Glad you liked it.
Unbelievably excellent. I'll definitely be using this method!👍
That’s far to kind thank you.
I'm in love with the red and gold combination 😍 ✨️ 💛
Thank you pal.
looks amazing - loving this MkIII HH series
Really happy to hear that pal.
Love it, the thousand sons in red just look right well done sir.
I agree.
Thanks for this Andy. I've been gathering the bits to make a small heresy-era Thousand Sons force and I wasn't sure how to paint them in order to get that metallic red colour.
Great work as always!
Thanks pal. Appreciate that.
Easily my favourite one so far. 100% using this technique for mine.
Glad to hear pal.

Ha cheer pal. Glad your liking the videos. And yes never underestimate a bone or silver drybrush at the end of a paint job.
Gonna have to try out that 40k Tsons tallasar blue trick
It looks great I promise.

@@MediocreHobbies and fun
@@MediocreHobbies do you use a normal brush or a wash brush for contrast paints?
Thanks for another awesome video.
No worries pal. Glad you liked it.
The candy-red Thousand Sons look really great and fun to paint. I am truly lost on what legion to start for HH 2.0 now :D
I’m the same pal. After doing so many of the legions now i can see myself doing all of them lol.

This is fantastic! If you wanted to add some nicks and scratches to the armor, what colors would you do them in and how would you do them?
Glad you liked it pal. Check out the last steps in my imperil fists video. That probably what I would do.

If you really want that red to shine, you can put a 1 part ardcoat 1 part water mix over the red armour.
Gives you that really candy apple red.
Great tip thank you.
I have to say I’m really looking forward to alpha legion doing great work my dude loving the series
Glad to hear that pal. Thank you so much.
Excellent tutorial
Cheers dude

Thanks man. Hope you try it and and let me know how you like it.
Love how simple this was. But weren't their gun casings grey? What would you do for that?
Contras grey then wash and layer Dawn stone.

@@MediocreHobbies I will do mate, thanks. Keep up the good work 👍
Wouldn't have thought to use a red contrast paint over the gold. This looks awesome man!

Hahhahaha maybe Maybe I shall
Think about it.
I used Clear Red from Tamiya, it pops like crazy over the Retributer Gold.
Isn’t that a crazy toxic enamel paint though? Or am I just wrong?
@@MediocreHobbies Enamel? Yes. Toxic? Nah.
@@joahnaut must be one of those old hobby myths.
Honestly I find the spray to be a difficult colour so painting over the spray at least once is necessary. Good job once again, glad I subbed.

The red over the gold + the dry brush *chef's kiss* I imagine assembly lining this scheme would get you done with around 15-20min per mini so perfect for to knock out an army in no time!
Ye for sure. It’s one of the quickest schemes to get an army done for sure.
Hello. Thanks again for this video, really nice and easy paint job. I don't have the contrast paint but have the full set of the speed paints, do you think is possible to get similar results? Thanks.
It is indeed possible. I’d love for you to give it a try and let me know.
How would you go about painting big flat areas on something like a rhino? Love the color scheme btw
I have lots of tank tutorials on the channel already! Thanks man
@@MediocreHobbies I saw a lot lf them 🙂 Especially loved the stippling one. But would that work if the base color is gold? And you are stippling contrast paint?
personally I prefer the tamiya clear red way, but this indeed looks fantastic!
Thanks so much! Yes that’s a good option too!
would these schemes work on non infantry or is there any "tweeks" needed you think ?

@@MediocreHobbies brilliant stuff im making my way through your content and the transfer vid......absolute legend for that one
Do you have transfers for every legion? I'm struggling to find a cheap way to get all of those.
Na I just have a few sheets. I also use the generic once from 40K mail it’s loads different legions on them.
I hope EC are up soon. :)
They should be very soon.
Hello there, how did you do the base?
There is a link in the video to another video where I go though it. Hope it helps.

Love some bolt action. Glad you liked the video.
Lets gooo!!
Glad your happy pal.
pls, do emperor's children next.
I shall do them this week don’t worry.
These would make a gd exorcists colour scheme
Agreed. It would look great.
Don't forget to do one of the legions in black soon or you'll end up doing too much black too soon.
That is a very very important point. I shall do some of the black once this week. Thank you.
2/3 favorite legions down, only iron warriors to go
We’re getting there lol.
Iron man? Is that you?
It is indeed.
