A few easter eggs that have now been noticed in my household is the comback of vanilla vodka from season 1 to season 3, teammate Roberts going in to subsitute for Jamie in episode 5 season 1 & episode 11 season 3, and sunflowers & darts being featured in the darts hallucination.
Jamie's copy of THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE DAMNED that he tosses into the rubbish bin, we see later in series end that he has kept it and read it, and is the place where he has stored one of the torn pieces of Ted's BELIEVE sign.
@@seanhoutx I don't know how many people noticed this, but did you see where Richard was keeping his BELIEVE piece? I'm 90% sure that it was in the bottle that held the Sand from St. Barts, which where he first slept with a supermodel. I'm only 90% sure though because I think he may have thrown the bottle in with the sand into the curse fire.
@@ursatzotschew7541 great catch. i'm not sure either. i've watched it 2 times through and caught so many subtleties the second time. i'm happy to say this series is one of my all-time favorites and will be rewatched every couple of years. i'm gonna keep an eye on richard's scene next,
@@seanhoutx Absolutley! I've watched numerous shows multiple times such as the Mandalorian, and a lot have lost their flare. But Ted Lasso has never lost it's charm and it honestly gets better each time because I understand more of the jokes/references.
You forgot the one where Roy Kent describes how he’d get back at a bully. He goes on to say 4am is is the best time to attack as the victim is least likely to fight back. He later goes on to train Jamie early at 4am.
At the end of season 2 and Nate rants at Ted, Nate is angry that The photo he gave Ted isn’t on display at the office …but when we see Ted preparing for the funeral in an earlier episode the photo is on the dresser Ted's apartment … a much more personal setting.
In S2 when Akufo tries to buy Sam, Higgins mentions a play he wrote with a similar situation (a billionaire trying to buy a player). When Rebecca asks him how it ends he says they go to a restaurant and find a piece of glass in their meal so they end up getting it for free. In S3 when Akufo returns and eats at Sam's restaurant he says that he found a piece of glass in his meal and asks Sam if it'll be on the house (and Sam says yes). It's only two lines of dialogue in different seasons but you gotta love the attention to detail.
1. Colin being gay was referenced in Season 2 when he talks about Grindr when Keeley talks about Bantr 2. When She's like A Rainbow plays, you can see Higgins' wife dressed in Blue & Keeley dressed in Gold when the lyrics kick in about she's dressed in Blue/Gold respectively. 3. Ted reading Henry Marcus Rashford's book and Marcus himself is referenced in the show via Sam Obisanya at times and Jason Sudeikis himself took a stand for Marcus in real life when he faced abuse after the Euros.
A small detail I noticed was the dissociative look Jamie gets when Ted shouts at him in s1 about practise. Jamie has that same look every time his father shouts at him.
There are more Cheers references: -The mystery couple in Season 2 turns out to be Sam and Rebecca (Ted Danson and Kirstie Alley's characters in Cheers). -When the actor that played Coach died, they Cheers cast moved a picture of Geronimo that was in his dressing room to the bar wall on set, the last thing Sam does in the series finale is straighten the picture. The same print of Geronimo is on the wall in Mae's pub, and in the series finale she straightens it.
My fave is the shoutout to Hamilton in S2E01. In the pub, Ted asks Beard “Can I be real a second, forget my meal a second?” And Beard replies (in time to keep the original rhythm) “Put down your beer and tell your buddy how you feel a second?” It riffs on the line sung by Washington in Right Hand Man: “Can I be real a second? For just a millisecond? Let down my guard and tell the people how I feel a second?”
I also liked that the doctor who tended to Sharon when she was hit on her bike was Roy's sister. They made a pretty obvious nod in that episode where she was in the office and it immediately went to Roy at the parent teacher conference
Anyone catch the pinball machine that Beard and Lasso were playing at the end of season 3 when Ted decides to return to the US? It was Wizard of Oz themed - as in Kansas - "there's no place like home". And I believe that the closing credits song was Diana Ross from The Wiz movie, titled Home. In the final game Ted is wearing red tennis shoes - ruby slippers reference? If this series is a reimagining of The Wizard of Oz, it seems appropriate that Rupert would represent the Wicked Witch of the West (Ham).
One of my all time favourite shows, I laughed but oh did I cry. Part of me wishes we could've gotten more seasons but I'm glad it ended the way it did. It was perfect.
My thoughts exactly! If it had gone on longer, I definitely would have watched, but I thought ending it early was a smart move! Too many TV shows go on for too long, and start to have more unnecessary drama and/or outlandish storylines. Ending it after a few amazing seasons kept the show amazing without taking things too far 💚
Love Actually was directed by Richard Curtis who always has a character called Bernard in his films and TV shows. I wonder if calling Phoebe's bully Bernard was a further nod to Curtis in the cue card scene.
A big one for me was Sam's dad, in an earlier season Sam says his dad pulls on his ear for good luck. When we meet his dad in s3 and Sam is upset, ola tugs his ears
Yes I do skip the intro when I’m binge watching the seasons again however I also downloaded the Ted Lasso playlist including the theme tune which I play, in full in the car many times
The Amsterdam ep starts with "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley. On the boat with Rebecca, there are 3 birds on the wall by the fireplace. Plus all the triangle references including the triangle shaped log on that fireplace.
But it’s the series! Hard to single one moment out without thinking of a dozen more. Like Jason being from the Windy City. In Amsterdam at the Yankee Doodle burger barn, he suggests the host/wait staff to tell Roxy Carmichael’s coming home… Lipschitz. Season 3 also brought in a Sam & Diane named reference at Mae’s bar, along with her adjusting the cheers Geronimo photo in the final scene of her bar.
I've been laughing about the fact that the actress who played Ted's wife, Andrea Anders, was the love interest in another show called "Better Off Ted"!
Another movie reference from season 3. When McAdoo takes the corner kick during practice and cracks the window, Baz in the stands says “Just a bit outside” is another classic Major League reference
@@Udeus5 yeah i realized after i commented!!! 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤷🏻♀️ but i was definitely cracking up at that line and my sister didn’t even remember it from Major League!!!
And the Caddyshack reference when Danni has the yips and Ted walks with him. Ted starts with "Ya know Danni..." and gets you wondering if they are channeling Caddyshack, but then he says "Be the ball Danni" and removes all doubt. WIth the Underhills, that's the second Chevy Chase movie reference.
In Season 2 Episode 6 of Ted Lasso (about 4:30 min in), while listing antagonists i.e. David and Goliath, Ted mention’s Steve Wiebe vs Billy Mitchell, a somewhat obscure reference to a 2007 documentary about Donkey Kong video-game competitors Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell. It was directed by Seth Gordon, a friend of Jason Sudeikis. I substituted for math teacher Wiebe when he took leave to do the movie and I was surprised and delighted when the reference popped up, especially knowing most people wouldn’t have a clue.
Nah. "Because I know something you don't know. I am not left handed/There's something I ought to tell you. I am not left-handed either" Is not the same as "Oh wait a second, I forgot I'm left-handed"
Something about the books, in the last episode of the show you can see that Jamie has the book that Ted gave him even though he originally throw it out. Its seen when the team are revealing their pieces of the believe sign
Which makes so much sense, considering that Ted thought of the total football offense, while watching a bulls game at the Amsterdam American themed diner!!!
I never skipped that intro tbh, it actually made me emotional and brought tears to my eyes seeing Ted just sit there (me being an empath.) Plus I felt the connection with the lyrics ending with “And heaven knows I tried.”
Very enjoyable and enjoyed seeing myself a number of times as one of Ted’s drinking buddies! I had the privilege to be on pretty much every episode - from start to finish!
I'm 13 days late to this Mojo video, so maybe somebody already post this hidden detail, but I am going for it. In the Sunflower episode (Amsterdam), Jamie and Roy bike ride to see windmills reminds me of the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, especially the song playing Raindrops Falling on My Head.
Ted's 'forgetting' he's left handed always reminds me of the scene in episode 4 of Band of Brothers where Buck Compton does the same thing to win a bet on a darts match.
I was staying somewhere where I got free access to AppleTV and watched like three episodes of Ted Lasso…I immediately ordered AppleTV to watch it at home!! Love love love #TedLasso!!
I had a free trial of AppleTV, and I read the synopsis of Ted and it didn't sound like a show I'd like, so I didn't watch. Got another free trial recently and decided to watch the first episode and loved it.
The thing about Allen Iverson's rant vs. Ted Lasso's rant is that AI was the selfish player, essentially saying that he did not need to practice, whereas the Ted Lasso rant was a coach pointing out the selfishness of Jamie and that if he continued on that route that Jamie would be out in a short time. In the end, AI did not win any championship and he is not listed among the NBA's greatest because he was all about AI.
Wednesday is Ted Lasso Day! By far my favorite new show. More Ted Lasso vids, please! I never noticed any of those Easter eggs, except for Roy reading the story to his niece. This show is so genius, and Amsterdam was by far the best episode to date. Thanks for posting this. :-) keep up the great work.
uhmm, I think Sam situation was more reference to Marcus Rashford from Manchester United when he called out politicians about food poverty during pandemic and they told him he should focus on football
It's both. Shut up and dribble is from the news anchor but the situation is a parallel to Marcus Rashford. The show even has Marcus Rashford references (Ted reading Marcus Rashford's book to Henry for instance)
There was a very obvious marvelous Mrs Maisel reference early in season 3. And I believe there is a Ted Lasso Reference in marvelous Mrs Maisel. In the latest episode midge struggles to remember the term semantic satiation which is a call back to season 1 of Ted lasso. I don’t think it’s a coincidence. But it could be.
They were very good picks, though I didn't think that the pillow fight and former manager George whoever were very obscure. Looking back, I think maybe I did realize some of the ones said while watching the episodes, but I guess they didn't really stick with me. A little suprised that none of the potential Wizard of Oz references were mentioned, but over all good list! I don't know who else noticed this in the previous episode, but I think the green matchbook is just a symbol of Family and probably AFC Richmond and everybody's bond with each other.
The best is beards coming back to the bus in Amsterdam and will asks beard “you speak Dutch?” And beard replies “don’t tell Jan” and the next episode in the beginning beard is explaining total football and everytime he gets to a Dutch name or word he says it wrong just so Jan can correct him. It’s small but it’s details like that make me love this show
If they did all of these references, the video would never end. The 2nd scene where Lasso is talking to Beard, "Is this crazy?" Straight out of Sleepless in Seattle.
And at the end of season 3, you can see that Jaime still has the book that Ted gave him, all ripped out by so many times he has read it, love it, Thanks for the video.
Good movie nod was the Amsterdam episode when Roy tells Jamie he can't ride a bike, then Jamie (and the bike thief) laugh...like Redford telling Newman he can't swim and Newman laughing on the cliff in Butch Cassidy. Then Roy learns how to ride it with Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head playing just like the bicycle scene in Butch Cassidy. Sigh...this show had too many easter eggs to count!
maybe someone has already commented on it, but just before the dart game, Ted calls Rupert "Rupe a Dupes". one of the best little gems. telling him to his face that he's about to get had
When Roy approached Jamie to hug him after the fight with his dad jamie flinches. A glance back to the abusive relationship he had with his father and his rough start with Roy. It also has his boyhood hero stepping up as a father figure
How about the entire premise of the show being visually depicted in the OPENING CREDITS? The spreading of the Lasso Effect changed not only the team but the community at large as well. It's right there in blue and red.
Ooh! good catch! One more reason to rewatch the series, even though I binge-rewatched the entire show before I could bring myself to watch the final episode.
In her first talk with Rebecca, Keeley is shown the paparazzi nude pic of Rebecca from during her divorce. Keeley comments how she would never want to hide that picture which feels like it is called back when her sex video is leaked
I don't generally watch much TV. Most seems to me to be mindless and predictable, forgotten within minutes of the ending. But this show is the opposite; it's exceptional. I've gone from watching it to studying it. I hope to someday use it in classes that I produce for developing leaders.
in s2 when Ted persuades Roy to join the team as a coach, he uses a phrase "i'm just a person standing in front of the boy, asking him to-" which is the reference to a romcom "Notting Hill" with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts
@@KatieRaeRae Not sure if it's a single, but I downloaded the albums from all 3 seasons, & both seasons 1 & 2 start with the theme song. And Season 3's album ends with "So Long, Farewell!"
The same selfie guy on the pilot runs into Ted in the airport in the last episode and gets another selfie as he's leaving and calls it and ussie, not a selfie.
The 'ussie' guy also turned up @ the Christmas dinner table @ the dentist house asking for a photo w/ Kiely when they found help for phoebe bad breath...plus at some point when Jamie is getting his hair cut & throws this guy's phone ( I think in season 2)😊
In the last episode, Roy takes Jamie to a bar. Jamie hasn't been allowed a drink since he started training with Roy. The beer is placed on the bar. Jamie runs his finger down the bottle, picks it up, downs it in one then says "worth the wait" This is a reference to "Ice Cold in Alex" where John Mills does the same thing However... That section of the film was used in a Carlsberg advert in the mid 1980's, so Jamie's probably copying the advert not the film And... John Mills says "worth waiting for" so Jamie got the quote wrong
I haven't had a re-watch in a while but I'm pretty sure Jamie still has the book Ted gave him from s. 1 in s. 3. It might be where he kept his piece of the "Believe" sign when the team was putting it back together.

An Executive Producer has the same name as Phoebe’s teacher in episode 10 season 3; Leann Bowen.
And at the end of season 3, you can see that Jaime still has the book that Ted gave him, all ripped out by so many times he has read it, love it, Thanks for the video.
'Pillow Fight'...Hilarious! Couple being scared away when trying to enter. Servers enjoying a drink while watching the chaos.
This was really great! And I enjoyed also being told how the books matched their journeys! Thank you, enjoyed this!
This was a really good video!
Damn that was fuckn awesome, this show is so layered!!! The Pillow fight one 🤯
in season 2 when Sam in on the stationary bike waiting for a text from who we then found out was Rebecca, he is also reading A Wrinkle in Time.
When Ted says "Rupe a dupes" it is a reference to Ali, with his Rope a Dope strategy vs George Foreman
They referenced my favourite film, when Jamie has a beer and says 'Worth waiting for'.
I love Ted Lasso
For me that intro song is gonna be one of the best of all time
maybe someone has already commented on it, but just before the dart game, Ted calls Rupert "Rupe a Dupes". one of the best little gems. telling him to his face that he's about to get had
When Roy approached Jamie to hug him after the fight with his dad jamie flinches. A glance back to the abusive relationship he had with his father and his rough start with Roy. It also has his boyhood hero stepping up as a father figure
Mercy buckets everyone! And ceremonial tea spitting
How about the entire premise of the show being visually depicted in the OPENING CREDITS?
The spreading of the Lasso Effect changed not only the team but the community at large as well. It's right there in blue and red.
This clip made me appreciate the show and its writers even more!!
In Season 2, episode 7, we see Sam reading a Wrinkle in Time, indicating a change in leadership?
Ooh!
In some of the newest episodes, he even refers to Nate as his former kit man! 5:33
Bryant's is in Kansas City MISSOURI.
I'm convinced that when Roy says "that was fucking embarrassing!" after the team loses, it's a nod to Letterkenny
Forgetting he's left handed was from the Movie "Princess Bride". The swordfight scene between Inigo Montoya and the Dread Pirate Roberts
2:43 Young Jason Sudeikis kinda looks like Dane Cook.
"Wicked" "Kinky Boots" in the finale but now the "Cheers" "Night Court"....my god this show....
I don't generally watch much TV. Most seems to me to be mindless and predictable, forgotten within minutes of the ending. But this show is the opposite; it's exceptional. I've gone from watching it to studying it. I hope to someday use it in classes that I produce for developing leaders.
Arthur Bryant's is in Kansas City, Missouri
Y’all need to do Top 10 Roy Kent or Keeley Jones moments from Ted Lasso!
in s2 when Ted persuades Roy to join the team as a coach, he uses a phrase "i'm just a person standing in front of the boy, asking him to-" which is the reference to a romcom "Notting Hill" with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts
I do watch the whole opening, lol
Me too! I wish they'd release it as a single!
Me three!
@@KatieRaeRae Not sure if it's a single, but I downloaded the albums from all 3 seasons, & both seasons 1 & 2 start with the theme song. And Season 3's album ends with "So Long, Farewell!"
The same selfie guy on the pilot runs into Ted in the airport in the last episode and gets another selfie as he's leaving and calls it and ussie, not a selfie.
i was wondering if that was the same guy! are you positive?
The 'ussie' guy also turned up @ the Christmas dinner table @ the dentist house asking for a photo w/ Kiely when they found help for phoebe bad breath...plus at some point when Jamie is getting his hair cut & throws this guy's phone ( I think in season 2)😊
Beard reading the eco-biography Searching for the Mother Tree by Suzanne Simard. Great subtle reference.
Has anyone else noticed Zava's blocking sidesteps of Ted when meeting the team mirrors Trump's blocking of the Queen when reviewing the troops??
I’ll be watching this series again since there was a lot I didn’t catch at the time. There’s a lot and so smart.
In the last episode, Roy takes Jamie to a bar. Jamie hasn't been allowed a drink since he started training with Roy.
The beer is placed on the bar. Jamie runs his finger down the bottle, picks it up, downs it in one then says "worth the wait"
This is a reference to "Ice Cold in Alex" where John Mills does the same thing
However...
That section of the film was used in a Carlsberg advert in the mid 1980's, so Jamie's probably copying the advert not the film
And...
John Mills says "worth waiting for" so Jamie got the quote wrong
I loved the show so much.
Arthur Bryants BBQ is from Kansas City, MISSOURI
When Nate said ‘Assistant TO the kit man’ is a nod to The Office’s Assistant TO the manager’
“Yum.” - Roy Kent 😂😂😂😂😂
I haven't had a re-watch in a while but I'm pretty sure Jamie still has the book Ted gave him from s. 1 in s. 3. It might be where he kept his piece of the "Believe" sign when the team was putting it back together.
That Iverson reference is a really deep cut.
FWIW, I write right-handed and throw lefty. Ted being left-handed completely eluded me because switching is natural in my head.
