This video will show how you go about troubleshooting a seat heating element in your car seat. This vehicle is a Nissan Quest, but many other vehicles with this feature have similar design.
That little rectangular box you see in the video is a thermal switch which will temporarily turn off the heating element if it gets too hot. It protects the seat from overheating.

Nice! wife has Infiniti QX56.. same scenario. back still heats. seat does not... the on/off is up on the console near stick shift...
your video makes me believe I could repair it... Infiniti shop guestimates... apparently $1000... but they only put in new parts. Thx for putting this together. Peace

Looks like a spring project. I have leather seats. Nissan sure doesn't know how to build cars. That heating pad should have been glued down just like you did. Nice video!

I've got a 2001 Nissan Maxima, and the drivers side bottom seat is not heating, but the back is. Unbolted the seat, but I couldn't seem to figure out how to get the fabric off. Certainly doesn't seem to break loose like you've just shown. I'm wondering if it is the same as this example you've shown here or if I need to look at something else. Scared of damaging something. Can't seem to find any information on the internet on how to do it.

LOL...I was thinking the same thing last night. Half my videos are based on things breaking. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing...haha.

Hello. Could you tell me what the three wires blue , yellow and black represent? I suppose black is mass, blue is + wire, and yellow...?

I just noticed after getting my car back from a upholstery shop that my driver side bottom heat warmer is no longer working. I believe the top seat still works. I'm hoping that it's just a connection problem and the stupid upholsterer didn't damage my seat warmer while repairing my leather seat. Should I have it checked by a mechanic or another upholsterer.

Hi Tim, that impact I used is a 3/8" Earthquake series from Harbor Freight. Cheap and good.

dial2fast What happened to your Ryobi 18V one? Was it too big or the battery is no longer holding the charge?

I so gotta go do my Quest seat now. The back is toasty but the but is freezing! doesnt look hard at all. If there is a need to replace the element any idea how much nissan gets for it?

I believe they are about $60 a piece from Nissan. You can confirm with your local dealer.

FYI. Some of the aftermarket heating pad suppliers do not recommend spray adhesive on the pads. Contact cement flammability issues.
