    You can just bend the hog rings open with some pliers and they will come out. When you go to replace just use zip ties in the existing holes from the hog rings.

    • @richardweyland116
      @richardweyland116 4 роки тому +1

      Don't be stupid. They use hog rings for a reason. Do a sloppy job, cut corners and it will result in a poor installation in time. Suck it up and do the hog rings.
      You can cut them off with side cutters.
      Luckily, the newer cars use easy to remove hooks.

      @@richardweyland116 Zip ties work just fine. If anything, it makes it easier to take back apart when these inevitably go bad and you need to tear it back apart in 1 or 2 years. I've gone though 3 sets of these kinds of pads per front seat and they all fail in the same way. Some of the wires fail overtime and starts to burn a hole in your seat. And no, it's not a bad install, every time it's gone bad has either been the temperature sensor, or some wires on the edge of the pad, nowhere near any possible pinch points.

    Skip the add a circuit. Factory circuits are designed for factory functions. All wiring should be rated for 125% of the maximum current draw. Go straight to the battery or the supply stud for the fuse block if its not accessible. Other than that nice work! Emergency vehicle upfitter here in NJ

    it's cool that you can find these heating elements aftermarket. The switches look like factory. Nice job on the install, except for cutting the anchor point, that made me cringe a bit. lol!

    • @wayneklay
      @wayneklay 2 роки тому +1

      Cringe is right. Cutting the channel is condemned by nearly all professionals. Eventually, the fabric is going to get loose from sliding in and out of the seat and will look like crap. Typical short cut taken by inexperienced young people. There are much better aftermarket kits than what he is hawking. High and Low only is ghetto. I have a 5-position selectable dial switch. If you’re going to do this, get a little quality. Very little additional cost. This video was as useful as a broken leg.

  • @H8onG
    @H8onG 7 років тому +10

    A lot of confused people on here i see. I do upholstery and install these all the time. The bottom cushion was installed incorrectly. First off you put it on backwards. The heat starts closest to the side where the wiring is. So when you turn them on, your leg area will warm up before your butt will, it should be the other way around. Also you do not need to cut the listing out. You can cut a hole in the seat heater to clip it in. You can also cut the heater smaller to fit correctly. But yes you can install them on cloth seats. Many new model vehicles are coming with heated seats even with cloth.

    Hello,
    Chevy Cruse 2017
    I have two heated seat kits, the instructions state to "Locate an onboard power supply that is able to deliver a continual 10 amp current while the vehicle is running". I have found two fuse locations that I would like to use for the two heated seats I purchased. One is the F13 25 AMP fuse, original use heated seats. The second is the F11 20 AMP fuse, original use sunroof. Both of these fuses are not in use as I do not have either function.
    My question is this, the kit comes with a 10 amp relay that will be tied to the fuse tap that comes from the fuse box and then tied to the heated seat to provide power. How should I handle this situation? What AMP tap should go into the fuse box and what fuse should go into that tap.
    All help is greatly appreciated
    Thank you,
    Mat

    • @stonkr

      The supply wire needs to be a suitably rated size for the heaters. Car stereos would normally be too low to supply heaters and you risk just blowing the stereo fuse, or melting the wiring at worst.

  • @inspectorsteve2287
    @inspectorsteve2287 6 років тому

    So there is no fuse for the heated seats? Also the seats won't stay tight since you cut that. After a few months to a year it will probably start looking loose like an old aftermarket car seat cover. However, it's your friend's car so as long as he doesn't mind no big deal.

    What you were doing on that hood, bloody hell that was stupid. Very very easy to scratch the paint doing that.

    Heated seats are for leather seats. Makes sense. Leather is cold as f*ck in cold. Cloth? You sit in and nothing happens.

      decius marius yeah that's definitely not true. I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra value addition and it has cloth seats and my seats are heated from the factory so you can put heated seats in cloth

      I had heated seats in cloth on a 2007 Mazda3. Definitely not true. I believe cooled seats are reserved only for leather though.
