This is the best explanation of this solo on UA-cam. You explained why we use the three positions. So I don’t just have to memorize notes. I know the three positions and can now improvise and it sounds good. Thanks so much
Excellent Teacher
Just the most fun bestest lesson ever for me. Cheers Mr Stitch, thanks again.
His lessons are always a little crazy, but there's always a wealth of helpful info. in them. Great stuff, best of luck to all (especially Stitch).
BB box full of flavour!! Adding not only the blues note (5b), but also 2 minor notes (2 & 6) in with the major pentatonic pattern 3..
Ughh Bro! Where have you been all my life? I've been stuck in either a minor pentatonic rip or a major scale noodle for last 15 years. Now I am all over my neck in all 5 minor pentatonic positions along with understanding and utilizing the major pentatonic (Major Pent. works really well improvising over country rock tunes) My band was completely shocked last practice; you're my hero dude; easy to understand vids and you make it bearable to watch the basics ( A lot of us "self-taughters" skipped those even if we did hit the ground running) Cheers Bro.
I’ve been playing around with this solo for a while but still keep forgetting it.
This lesson’ll get me jamming around with it more and I’ll have more of a clue in general.
Thanks!
Another great video my friend!
Hey man, just wanted to thank you for the work you’re doing to keep the music alive.
This is the best guitar lesson page. All the rest u learn but u dont know why. Thank you so much.
used to play this in a cover band lol.. middle aged drunk moms loved this tune, had to slay em with this twang
Fantastic! Wonderful explanation of the theory behind the creation of the solo.
Light bulbs just exploded, that is a brilliant explanation! And demonstrated with such joy .... 👍👍😎😎🎶🎶
Brilliant! You have a gift of communication. My neurons are building bridges of your insights. ✌🏻
This has got to be one of your best lessons yet!
Well well. Who was the guitarist on Tracy Chapman's Give Me One Reason ? I do not know. Google time !!! Adam Levy, it would appear. Next search.....Adam Levy is a jazz guitarist who was a member of Norah Jones's band. Wikipedia
Tremendous ten minute lesson. No surprise, I suppose, that a jazz guitarist would take the solo out of the standard core blues box at the second fret - very tasty. Reminds me of an earlier Stitch lesson about mapping the solo. Thanks Ian !!
Or you can see Eric Clapton jam along with her.
@@reinaldoreyes5631 Yep. He's a pretty good guitarist also.
And Adam is also a very good you tube teacher!
Dude, I love your teaching style!
Yet another fantastic lesson, excellent "Stich Style" breakdown. Life changing stuff for me Ian!!
awesome teacher...many people can play....few can teach...coming from a school teacher...
You're a good teacher man. Thanks for the lesson.
Thanks man, much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed
The ever present twinkle of joy in your eyes shines extra brightly against this starry background! 🤩 👍🏻
Well I’ve been improvising position 1 F#m all this time and always thought it sounded shite.
Now I know better. Thanks!
Great lesson. Your are a unique talent, both in teaching and feeling the blues.👍
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS! Thank you my good man.
Excellent tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to make this.
I’m having so much fun with this song now. Another great lesson. Thank you!
Love your enthusiasm Corinne!
Excellent laid back blues lesson, enough to get me back into playing after nearly 30 yrs.after nipping a tip off a digit, ( apparently it was a pretty common accident 30 yrs ago) WOW!, have things changed Loopers! Could have used one back then. Got one on order already. Going to join your Patreon page as as a "tip jar" member. Love watching this lesson a 75 % speed, HA
Brilliant simplicity. Thanks for explaining why I always sound like crap when I play over this!
This is one of your best lessons for just the reasons you said: It's easy to understand and play, but it sounds so good! Thanks!
This is one of my favourite videos of clapton. So simple but beautiful, he must of watched your lesson 😂🤣
Adam Levy played the leads on the original recording. Also pretty much every Norah Jones song you ever heard. Great session player, he also dispenses not-quite-lessons/almost-philosophy on _his_ UA-cam channel _Adam Levy Guitar Tips_
Hi thanks for the information. I was listening to a Norah Jones song and was wondering who was playing amazing leads on guitar. Perfect timing to see your post. Cheers
@@wingsfan99994u I don't think this is a Norah Jones song. It was originally written and sung by Tracey Chapman I think. Can't help with the guitarist unfortunately.
What a great lesson on a great song! I remembered when this album came out, can’t wait to solo over the song tomorrow. Thanks again!👍🎸🇨🇦
Thanks Stitch , You are a great teacher!!
🤯. Thank you for connecting the dots for me on this concept!!!
I am hoping to become a member of your Patreon group this week. I want to go into more detail on exactly how you play this solo step by step. I have been rewinding this video so many time, I feel like you deserve to get paid for your awesome lesson. See ya soon on your page!
This is indeed the most enlightening breakdown of Give me one Reason, been muddling through this for some time using standard approach, thank you great job!
All of that makes sense, and you explain it very well.
Great lesson! Loved how you went over these various areas. Well done Ian! Thank you for the lesson!
Excellent lesson - thanks!
Hey! That's really cool that you're in Galax, VA. I grew up not far from there (Floyd, VA) and if you're ever in that area and have a free Friday night, I highly recommend checking out the Floyd Country Store. Bring your guitar and you can sit in on a jam session. Oops. I just noticed that this was a year ago.
Thanks for this great lesson and technique for playing this. Going on my looper tomorrow.
Such a great lesson for such a slick tune. One of my favorite songs! Thanks 🙏🏼
Wow. You truly are a guitar hero, Ian, thank you so much for this and all your great work!
Been subscribing a while and loving the videos and insights. This one came across my feed and thanks to the clear explanation and fretboard graphics, I easily learned the concept of connecting the pentatonic shapes with the Albert King box and BB box and on up the fretboard. Holy S!*% what an instant transformation to my phrasing but also seeing those connections between pentatonics that immediately made the light bulb go off for when I solo over other blues. Thank you!!
This is a great vehicle for teaching these techniques....really ...it helped me ...thanks for a useful lesson
Sick lesson
Love the new "Coming Up" preview. Always some of the best guitar content on UA-cam!
Great lesson and explanation as always.
Give me one reason not to smash the Like button!! Awesome lesson
Great video. Thanks.
Awesome lesson fellow virginian.
Nice lesson Ian
Lessons always make my day better stitch.. thank you for everything as always! You the man!
Great lesson!
Amazing video man, new sub.
Nice to have you!
A truly great lesson thank you Ian.
Great song, and as usual great lesson! Thank you Sir!
Really like the way way you bust this up into pieces, and then put the pieces together to complete the puzzle. SUPER JOB
Great lesson, Ian, thanks.
Dam I learn so much from your lessons thanks for doing these lessons 👍
Really helpful. Thank you.
This is so great !!!!
Amazing content sir 🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely loved this lesson, way cool!
This is just radically cool Ian! One of your best. Thanks for posting.
Kevin O'Rourke
Fun vid! Maybe you should have done the first part on a Flying V second part on a 335 and last part on your strat. Lol!
ok ive had this song in my head but could not remember the title or the lyric
that song play in party when i was a kid (country party... i was close to St-tite western festival) and that song was a classic
Great!!!
I would love to see some videos breaking down Aerosmith/GNR riffs or their thought process like you’ve done for Zeppelin!!
very nice lesson. thank you so much.
Your the best!!
Really Cool . . . 10 minute Lesson!
Wizard skills here. Hot damn!!
Very helpful. Thanks
What do the numbers after the chords mean?
Very nice, thanks.
Thanks. That's interesting...
Thanks. Brill.
Right on man!!!
Grown in quality ! :)
my favorite Box to play with :-)
My 2nd favorite
warning to all who enter! if you start playing along with this song, you are not going to want to stop
Is this a quick 4?
Your lessons are both informative and fun to listen to. I realize you're teaching *how* to play, not *what* to play, but I'm always tempted to just squint my eyes and learn your solos by note. Keep it up, Ian.
Just posted the TAB of my solo to my patreon😉
I’d like to know the Clapton version.
Stich..you're missing out on a gem here...Given the background cloth ..
That's just screamin' out for a (slow but not too slow) blues version of..Starry starry night..
You know it makes sense...
You can always borrow one of Sean's many women..who for some strange reason all seem to be able to sing quite well...
You are mellifluously mellow.
Very nice 👍
Here!
thanks or the video!! Can you help me understand... this is F# major, so why does minor pentatonic work here?
Watch my blues primer playlist, it will answer a lot
this is fantastic! it really forces you to listen for the changes and if you are off you get instant feedback because it just doesn't sound good.
Do you play slide/bottleneck guitar?
Unfortunately no
I consider my self intermediate with theory and playing . But what’s a minor third ?
Minor third, flat third, same thing…. 3 1/2 steps up from your root
I tried to purchase the Ditto Looper from Guitar Center and they cancelled the order! Is there a problem with the Ditto? Do you have a recommendation for a place to purchase? Thanks.
The new Ditto Plus was announced months ago but is still not being delivered. The basic Ditto should still be easy to buy.
What do the numbers after the chords mean?...F#4, B2, C#2, etc
The amount of beats per chord
@@StichMethodGuitar Thanks so much Ian. Love your lessons man!
Great stuff!! Would those patterns sound good in any standard blues? Without the “extra” chords?
Indeed they would!
Didn't know Tom Segura does guitar lessons
Still wondering why there were 5 thumbs downs
👏
I thought it was Tom segura playing guitar lol
Compliment: You could make extra income as a Franco Harris look-alike to appear at high-class parties, etc.
👍👍👍👍👍😎
