I remember hearing this record and the slow wind blowing before the happy notes of Choir of the Damned thinking this is going to explode and it does, of course, with Ripping Corpse. When Slayer's record his store shelves we of course applauded and lapped up every bit of the classic album it eventually became. My goodness, Jeff Hanneman's skill and ability as a song writer cannot be overstated. Nevertheless, PTK remained and remains a staple in my playlist to this day; I'm 52.

I believe that if you'd look at the bands overall and their careers, i'd say that Sodom wins BY FAR. Kreator released some weird stuff in the 90s but Sodom was allways (and still are) amazing. When it comes to these two albums, things quickly becomes harder. They are both amazing, but they are going for a very different sound so its really hard to compare them.
Pleasure to Kill, Hell Awaits & Reign in Blood (Slayer), Eternal Devastation (Destruction), Bonded by Blood (Exodus), Beneath the Remains (Sepultra), Seven Churches (Possessed), Harmony Corruption (Napalm Death) -- I played these albums (vinyl of course) back in the 1980s endlessly. I think this was Kreator's best album and certainly one of the great thrash albums of all time.

As always, a great idea with some outstanding performance. I admire the precision in your playing and the share speed and strength U have built in years. Playing 3 Sodom or Kreator songs in a row with no real breaks can give you cramps and muscle fever, no matter in how good playing condition (shape) one is in. Iconic albums and a great choice!

as a guitarist Sodoms music has always been easy to play,,kreators music became more n more technical (terrible certainty onwards) ...pleasure to kill was probably the last of the more basic kreator albums,,,nice playing mate;) i love both bands

I know both bands, have albums from both, and both are great. I also bought them in Germany, which is where both groups originate. “Pleasure to Kill” wins because it’s a legendary thrash album that few have touched.
Between these two I have to go with Sodom. Always was more of a pure thrash fan, and while I can absolutely respect what Kreator did for the death metal scene with this, I'm just not that into it. Just a tad too chaotic and incoherent for my tastes. Plus, I am a massive sucker for Sodom's thrash breaks and they are at their peak on Persecution. I will say Coma of Souls is god-tier thrash and arguably better than anything Sodom ever did (and I'm a huge Sodom fan)
