      its frustrating working a job for 16 an hour watching videos like this, he's throwing away lifetimes of my income and its nothing to him, the loathing I feel for the disparity has nothing to do with Trainwrecks, but the sheer dark hilarity of it, my toils in life mean absolutely nothing.

      Even though its real money it’s essentially fake. The casinos know if Train bets $x/hr that he’ll lose $x/month. So if they want to pay him $2mil/mo to gamble and they expect him to lose $20mil/mo from gambling, they’ll pay him $22mil/mo. They recoup their $20 mil and Train gets to claim that he’s not one of the “fakes” that gambles with fake money. he gambles with “real money”.
      The reality is if he only bet the minimum every spin and only lose $10mil in a month, he would at the very least lose his sponsorship but probably get sued as well. He’s gambling with fake money just with extra steps.

    As a recovering addict, the behavior of constantly describing and awknowledging how severe my addiction is then getting extremely defensive and confrontational when people point out the exact points I’m making is classic. It’s like “if I criticize myself, no one else is allowed to.” If a loved one is doing them, call them out and DO NOT BACK DOWN. Addicts are masters at smooth talking their way out of problems or straight up intimidating or threatening people to make them shut up.

    • @chickenlittle5095
      @chickenlittle5095 Рік тому +44

      The only thing I have to add to that is that no one is harder on an addict than an addict themselves. It is like talking a fat person they need to lose weight. WE KNOW we need to stop but telling us continually isn’t helping 😂

    • @FrostRare
      @FrostRare Рік тому +93

      @@chickenlittle5095 I’d rather have a loved one call me out than watch me kill myself in slow motion. In my addict head, I keep saying “just one more” or “I’m fine” or “I can handle it”. I’ve been “just one more” away from death so many times and was only saved by loved ones telling me “no. Not one more.” I’ve also gone over the edge but gotten second chances that I didn’t deserve.
      If you are hard on yourself to the point that it hurts, I’m sorry and I hope you get the help you need. You don’t need to do it alone though.

    I work in the online gambling industry.
    1) If you play for an extended period of time, these games are mathematically designed to deplete your account. You win a little, then gradually lose everything. This isn't hidden, go read the terms of conditions.
    2) These creators are given dummy accounts by the unregulated casinos. Most of the time they won't be playing with real money, or the casino will give them HUGE kickbacks on losses - to the tune of 90/95%. If this guy was one of the largest streamers on Twitch, bringing huge amounts of traffic/revenue onto their site, his advertised losses will be many multiple times lower than he is claiming.

    I worked at a casino incentivising people like this day after day. Being a club host and seeing how easy it was to keep people involved... It was tragically sick. I only lasted 6 months. Thinkin about how often this happens, it hurt knowing how much you could change the world with that money... But it was getting scraped up by people like me. And mostly towards keeping the casino managers well fed. Very. Very well fed. That job may have paid 'well', not really when you consider the trauma it caused, but the collateral damage is immense and unnoticeable to the public eye. Since it worked at a local one, I would regularly see people I knew in my town walking around as if they weren't hurting for money day after day. Telling their wives and kids everything is fine when I knew they just lost millions in one night. It was ridiculous.

      I played as an advantage player for a while. It was actually motivating going into the casino knowing that I was taking money from the casino, getting nice rooms and meals and stuff. But I stopped after a while because going into a casino in any capacity drains you. There is not really a rush card counting since you are not making any choices (the rush comes from making a statistically improbable choice and winning) but merely playing like a computer. I then realized that I was simply taking money from the casino, maybe a few thousand in profit in a weekend, which was an insignificant amount to them. Ultimately all that was happening was that the casino took 500k or a million or whatever they took nightly and I took a pittance of that money, which is just other fools' money anyways. The amount is so small that some casinos will let counters play even after identifying them. Gambling is one of the worst and most insidious vices.

      @dubbins We were allowed to comp up to 10% of losses. So for a 10k loss that night. We could give back about 1k worth of free play, meals, cigs, hotel stays, golf stuff etc. So many people were overdrawn. I'm really happy you were able to make it out. So many people just die internally. You describe the look perfectly. The computer starts to control your play. People in front of the screens start to turn into zombies and just spin. It made me realize how my parents felt when I would 'waste' hour's of my free time playing video games, but with a much higher cost per minute.

      That’s because of the old saying “sex sells”. Now amplify that when your audience is generally young teens, or males who receive no real life female attention. It’s just a weaker version of prostitution, women using their bodies for financial gain from males. It’s pretty sickening to see, as it degrades women and men at the same time, but if you call it out, you are somehow the one being a misogynist? Yes, the people pointing out the issues of a company being a pimp for women to gain money by showing their bodies to men are the problem. In my opinion, these younger people simply weren’t around and didn’t know about cam sites. They don’t see how twitch is quite literally a cam girl site, but worse, as it portrays itself as a platform for younger people and not as a website that allows pornographic content, because it allows them to have mainstream advertisers and gain even more revenue.

He's protecting his addiction by rationalizing his actions as better than other addicts doing the same stuff. He has an over aggrandized sense of self. He is aware he is miserable and continues the self destruction cycle anyway. This guy needs help, but unless he is willing to do it for himself he won't probably get better. Typically criticism doesn't encourage an addict to get better. Interventions usually just put the armor up. They have to hit rock bottom and reach that breaking point where they wake up. It's usually the only way for someone to even begin to accept help, much less recover. It's awful that entire industries and companies profit off of people's addiction.

Hasan,Ethan Klein and Pokemane all support porn, Amouranth and Alinity straight up make porn and the Twitch community either doesn't care or supports this. Why am I brining this seemingly unrelated fact up ? Because porn has been proven to be addictive time and time again yet none of these people factor this in when they go after gambling and gambling streamers with the moral justification of "gambling makes money off of addiction" why is it wrong for Train and XQC to make money off of an addictive service but it isn't wrong for Amouranth or Alinity ? When it comes to monetizing addiction either all of its ok or none of its ok.
