Perfect size, color and pegged it a few times, the bike screamed I loved it. Now I'm looking at the Rebel 500, closest I can find to my old bike. The rider passed me as soon as possible, but then with all the curves and speed limits, when ever he accelerated. I would keep-up with him. I followed him for about 30 miles, and we ended-up stopping at a red light together.

Love the Rebels. As for a "beginner" bike, I bought a Yammy 400 after 10 years of riding...put highway pegs on it and taller bars. My only complaint was not enough top speed. It was also the only bike I've ever owned where I got invited on a group ride with a bunch of Harley riders. They initially thought it was a sportster. hahahaha !!!

Thinking in getting the Rebel, would you recommend the 500 for highway commute and occasional trips? Or a few months after getting it I’m going to regret not getting the 1100?
Yeah I would. It’s a great bike really. If you will regret it or not is hard to say. Normally new riders start small and end up getting bigger and bigger engines with time. But later on we start to cool down and go back down again. All depends of who you are and what you prefer. I could live with the 500 but I would prefer the 1100 because I like the extra kick.
