    Thanks for this video, it contained a lot of good info. At 8:42 you said you'd be hesitant to take your bike on long rides. Don't be ridiculous, you should have no fear. Americans believe they need large engines to take long trips, but people in other countries make long trips with small displacement engines. For example, I now live in Viet Nam and people often travel between Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Sai Gon) and Ha Noi (over 1,000 miles) on a 100cc moped.

    Hi Jake, just watched your video and found it very useful. I have just ordered a Honda Rebel 500 special edition today which will get here sometime in July in South Australia. I am a 5 foot 1/2 inch 63 yo woman getting back into motorcycling after a decade or three, and it is one of the few bikes I can plant my short legs onto the ground with. Thanks and cheers, Sue.

    A rebel 750 would be a great compromise. Same aesthetic as the 500 with the chonky front tire and overall size just with a bit more potent engine squeezed in to bridge the gap between the 500 and 1100. I wish more people got into cruisers as they're imo the best category for general bike use... comfy, not too thirsty and wont tear your arms off everytime you get on the throttle a bit.

    • @Pstoneboi
      @Pstoneboi 2 роки тому +3

      I understand the concept, and I think it would be cool, but Honda’s thinking process is probably just… at that point, buy a shadow. I think they’re 750cc.

    • @dodo19923
      @dodo19923 2 роки тому +1

      @@Pstoneboi Tbh, i didn't know the shadow 750 was a thing. Will look into it and see what it's like. Still think it would a good idea but if there's already a 750 cruiser then yeah, seems pointless to add another at this time.

    • @Pstoneboi
      @Pstoneboi 2 роки тому +1

      @@dodo19923 I will say, if they got rid of the 300 the 750 would be cool. And they could absolutely get rid of the 300 in my opinion.

    • @dodo19923
      @dodo19923 2 роки тому +2

      @@Pstoneboi I'd keep the rebel 3/500 looks/size/wheels ect, get rid of the 300 as the 500 is ideal for beginners and put a 750 for folks who want more engine but the same rebel overall aesthetics.

    Got my license in the fall of '23 and bought my Rebel 500 the day of. I'm a heavy set guy with (exactly) average height, and I wouldn't say my weight is any issue on this beautiful machine. I will say that I wish that the stock footpegs were just an inch or two lower, or positioned a little further forward, as my knees can get a little stiff and uncomfortable on longer rides.
    I think what I like the most about the Rebel 500 is how forgiving it is for a new rider like myself in terms of friction zone on the clutch, and uphill starts. And it's also just a really fun bike to drive! The fact that it also looks really great is a fantastic bonus.
    Would absolutely recommend this bike to any new rider, especially if you wanna ride a cruiser.
    I'm dreaming of upgrading to an Indian Scout in the long term, but like yourself, I could see myself hanging onto this bike regardless since it's such a fun and sweet bike.

    500cc is more than enough for city touring. They just aren’t good for cross country as much. But I’d STILL do it!
    I think the 1100cc is nice. But too expensive for what it is…I can pick up a CB1100 with barely any miles, for half the cost. I’ve owned Valkyries, GoldWings, and even a few Z-Rex’s… I still like this 500cc option. This thing would be a hoot at Deals Gap NC! Enjoy the summer Jake.

    I'm a beginner biker. My Honda Ruckus scooter got stolen, so I purchased a NAVI to replace it but had to get my endorsement for the NAVI. Never thought I would want anything bigger than a scooter until I took the class and all the bikes were 250cc and bigger. It felt amazing and now I'm hooked. I almost got the Rebel 300 but everybody says I'll outgrow it fast, so I put a down payment on a new Rebel 500 last month. Kinda late Christmas present. It's on order and just got word from the dealer that it has shipped and will arrive within the month. Can't wait but I'm a little nervous that it might be too big for a beginner. This was a great video and helped build my confidence and made me feel good about my purchase. I'm 5'8" about 150 lbs. I'm 54 yrs old and a little too old to be learning new things but cruising around on a Rebel 500 looks like an exciting way to enjoy my retirement.

    You can adjust the gear shift lever higher above the foot pegs. I really needed to do this because my boots were not going under the adjuster lever easily on mine. In fact before raising the shifter my foot got stuck between the pedal and the shifter lever and I had a zero mile per hour fall over..... Not good .... Thankfully I had a good highway bar( T-REX ) installed that saved me from damage.

    I really like a honda rebel. I'm a 34 year dude who always wanted a bike, but I don't know how, so I will have to get into a class. Now, all my friends who own bikes say to avoid 300, even if just for commute as I will outgrow in a month and are slow. To start with a 500 or 700 and to be honest, the main reason is for me to commute as gas prices here in SoCal is $6.50 and I have to get 1 hour early to work just to find parking and motorcycle parking is right in front, so I'll 2/3 on gas and 1 hour of my day. Second reason is that I love the open freedom feeling and here in SoCal I hardly rains and the coldest it gets is like 40°. A second bike I love is the Husqvarna Svipilen that comes like with a 380cc engine and is sort of light offroady which I like and is cheaper. Sadly here in SoCal there's is a shortage of bikes. Dealers have crazy mark ups and the few that don't, just don't have inventory and in Craigslist so far I've found a 2019 rebel 300 for $4,400 and some old KTMs, or scooters. By the way, I'm 6'1 and 250 pounds.

    I’m thinking about buying a rebel 500, I’ve already had a suzuki ls 650, disappointing experience, so I’m not a novice rider.
    I live in a sardinia, italy, no highways and I’d use the bike in the city and for small trips outside, so nothing special.
    my question is above all for the experienced riders, is the rebel 500 a worthy bike to own for someone who has already some experience? would I become bored of it?

    I have a HR 500 and I'm in love with my bike. Im a newbie so threre are many things I need to learn. I ordered an engine guard from T rex racing. Its the best guard for the HR.. Im so excited about my bike. It is an awesome bike and beautiful. I love that is a cruiser but still kind of sporty. Im 5'2 and its pretty good for my height. I want to change the mirrors to the on you have. Where did you get those mirrors?

    Just got my 500 rebel, it's my first bike I took it for a spin a couple of times and love it. I just seem to reb the engine in between shifts. And it's a little awkward trying to keep my left foot underneath the gear shifter. But I guess being my first it's gonna rake a little time getting use to it..
    Your video helped alot thank you. And if you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated 👍 thank In advance

      I am not a rider yet and it has been a while so you have probably figured it out, but if you are revving between upshifts, you need to wait a tiny bit longer after letting off the throttle to upshift.

    so my car is going to crap out soon and I cannot afford to buy a new one, with the initial price, insurance, gas, all that. I'm wondering if the rebel 500 would be a good daily? id use it mainly for highway usage, the furthest id typically go is about 40 miles of straight highway.

      @@brainzvsbeauty2116 the rebel S is the special edition model, it has LED lights, headlight cowl, diamond stitched seat and front front fork gaiters. The bike itself is exactly the same, just a few style changes which I think makes it look badass! Just Google honda rebel 500 s. The bike in this video is the s model.

    I was thinking of getting one of these I road many motorcycles but don’t own one at this time my favorite bike I owned was my 85 Yamaha virago. A lot of family members own harley’s done like any of them they just feel to heavy and vibrate your teeth out at stop lights and 40 horsepower is plenty in a bike. Road a ninja 900 once and I just don’t get why you would want that much power in a bike
