Great review, I was going for the Rebel but then I got the ST mostly because the Rebel is a entry level machine and even duo I am not an expert rider I wanted a machine that I could use for the rest of my riding days.
I don’t get why everyone thinks the running lights are a safety issue. Amber running lights are also not common in Germany. I own the 2019 version and had absolutely ZERO issues with them. I drive mostly in the city with lots of traffic (Berlin) and not one driver mistook my running lights for active indicators. The indicator shines way brighter than the running light. This is definitely a non-issue in practice. If anything it improves the visibility of the bike especially at night because the lights are spread out wider. There is a higher chance that a car driver sees at least one light in his mirror.
I haven't yet experienced any issues either , but it does seem an unnecessary risk? If the aim is for extra visibility they could be white lights? There are plenty of examples of dual colour lights for the rear. I don't know if you've ever ridden in the UK? maybe German drivers are more disciplined?
Views from the Man Cave No, I haven‘t ridden in the UK yet. But I can tell you that drivers in Berlin are definitely not disciplined. It’s pretty chaotic especially during rush hours. Double parking vehicles blocking lanes, drivers illegally using bus and bike lanes and cars quickly switching lanes without using their indicators is common place.
Agree with the forward controls. I had real trouble moving this bike in my driveway - two heavy Harleys no issues, this feels top heavy to me. It runs awesome from 25-45, but it doesn't do well on the freeway (numbing vibration) and it's very slow to accelerate IMHO. Good review, thanks.

I've been thinking about getting a bike license for a while and when I saw this bike and that it was basically a perfect A2 entry I've made my decision and better yet its a bobber style which is good because I was never really a fan of racing bikes
My son bought a brand new 2019 Honda Rebel in May of 19' . August 1st of 19' he took a road trip on the Highway. The speed limit was 70 mph. He hit a series of pot holes and the tire blew and bent the fork. He was thrown off the bike and killed instantly. He and his wife were expecting their first child in December. The baby boy is now 14 months old. I would caution this bike at highway speeds. He was eight days from his 29th birthday. I miss him everyday.
Quite cool looking for what it is. Not a fan on the Matt black exhaust cause after couple wet, dirty rides ,despite meticulous cleaning, look horrible quite quickly. Nice real world review mate 👍
It's certainly a lot better-looking than the generation one, especially the rear light. I can see why young riders would like it. I agree indicators as driving lights is a dangerous idea. Not so sure about that customising job. Dig the Easy Rider jacket. Born to be wild !!!!
The story behind that is that originally I was going to try and 'persuade' Honda into letting me do a custom build. But I ended up taking a lot of the text out, but left that clip in place
I've given you a "like", though I wanted to know how comfortable and capable this cruiser is to "cruise" on thruways/highways and the like for extended distances
I like the bike, but those amber running lights must go! Don’t know why Honda did this for the UK/EU market. Our indicators are hard to see enough as it is, going from an amber light to a slightly brighter flashing one is a safety risk.
My main worry with it is vehicles pulling out of side roads. A lot of drivers don't look hard enough already. My fear is that this just compounds that. They see orange with their quick saccadic glance and pull out thinking you are turning. It may be a worry over nothing, but it seems unnessesary.
I have a quick American question. Lol So, I love the metric system and I wish America used it more fully, but why do I often hear measurements expressed in hundreds of millimeters? Isn't the wonderful beauty of the metric system that you can just reduce the much larger number incredibly easily to centimeters?
Hi Ryan, thats a good question and I don't know why exactly. Trades people and engineers always do it, as it makes the numbers more easily readable because theres no decimal points. The bike manufacturers also quote in MM which is why i stated 690mm and not 69cm. if the seat had been 695mm it could of course be shown as 69.5cm, so it think its just a more immediately obvious number to quote in MM? It may be that its the accepted SI for science and engineering, but somebody smarter than me can probably confirm.

Awesome bike. Just picked it up had to drive with it 350 km back home :) Now i know many neg comments on youtube are from people who have not ridden this. You can easily do long distance on this bike, honestly its more fun than my Tiger triumph 800xc, just with a bit less power. The bike does not blow all over the place on the motorway passing cars. Wind is of course sometimes an issue. The LED dash is a bit hard to read in high sunlight but i mean come on can you read your iphone in extreme sunlight ? When it rains though the screen is a bit small so in low vis and rain its a bit hard to read.
At what speed can you do long distance - I ask because several times I've read that at highway speeds the vibration through the handlebars is annoying??
Hey, I'm thinking of getting the Rebel 500 as my first bike. I do understand you said the leg position is going to hurt on long drives, like is it because of the firm seat or suspension or both. I am planning to do trips to the canyons and stuff, will I be comfortable on this bike,it would be really helpful to know your opinion. Thank for the review dude, to be honest your review is one of the best I have ever seen with all the practical details. And Sir can you explain how to adjust the rear suspension?
Personally I Love It !! I would like to say Amber lights for Bikes Make sense and white lights for cars, > Safe !! how many cars do you see with only one light and think > Is that a Bike or a Car coming towards you at night ??
True, but its the worry that the amber light is misintepreted as an indicator. As riders we already know that a lot of drivers don't look properly already...
I've owned this bike for just 1000 km now and I can say it's definitely going to be a long term relationship

The baby boy is now 14 months old. I would caution this bike at highway speeds. He was eight days from his 29th birthday. I miss him everyday.
Thats incredibly sad, I'm so sorry for your loss Tracy.
How fast was he traveling when he hit the potholes???????????????
Good choice mate. Nice bike indeed..
🤘💯
Hope we can see a new Honda Rebel 500cc/750cc in DCT in the Future
Fantastic first bike...Honda did it right.
I did my licence on this in Barcelona, good bike. i have tenere700 now, just coz I love enduros
Nice!
Quite cool looking for what it is. Not a fan on the Matt black exhaust cause after couple wet, dirty rides ,despite meticulous cleaning, look horrible quite quickly. Nice real world review mate 👍
Cheers
Hopefully I can buy this one, someday. 🤗🤗🤗
Awesome review thank you!
Thanks Ryan
It's certainly a lot better-looking than the generation one, especially the rear light. I can see why young riders would like it. I agree indicators as driving lights is a dangerous idea. Not so sure about that customising job.
Dig the Easy Rider jacket. Born to be wild !!!!
Cheers
Very good review . Love from Bangladesh.
Thanks!
great review, thanks mate
No problem
Would you believe I've just watched this a third time, Tony? It's because I keep thinking about the forthcoming 1100 DCT.
Thanks for propping up my viewing figures ;) I'm looking forward to swinging a leg over the 1100 at some point
Can someone tell me what's going on with the winking woman at 3:22?
The story behind that is that originally I was going to try and 'persuade' Honda into letting me do a custom build. But I ended up taking a lot of the text out, but left that clip in place
@@mancavemoto well I hope you realise that me and my girlfriend now spend too much time on the sofa winking at each other because of this. 😂
😂🤣😉
She's constipated.
RE Meteor 350 looks like a much better option. Thanks for the vid.😎
No problem 👍
I've given you a "like", though I wanted to know how comfortable and capable this cruiser is to "cruise" on thruways/highways and the like for extended distances
Great review.
Great review, thank you
No problem
Great video beautiful bike 😎🤘🙌
Cheers
thanks for the look
no problem
Just reviewed the big bro of this. The 1100, and I would go for the 500 every time and not even look at the 1100
I like the bike, but those amber running lights must go!
Brilliant vid comentary + bike thanxz allowd 2 dream The 9 Dotz
Glad you enjoyed it
as a 6'1 guy i can say my knees already hurt just by looking at this video
Possibly yes
@@mancavemoto Honestly can't be any worse than a sports bike! Really good content sir.
I just bought a 2020 Rebel 500 and its awesome bike. Also, in Manitoba the insurance for this bike is very low.
Thanks for sharing
Cool looking bike.
Brilliant Video thank you !!
Thanks
My dream bike
I have a quick American question. Lol
So, I love the metric system and I wish America used it more fully, but why do I often hear measurements expressed in hundreds of millimeters?
Thanks for the review. Really clear and concise. Any chance you know where you got the image of the customised version at 3:17. It looks amazing.
No problem. I mocked that image up in Photoshop.
Nice bike but better for folks who ride outside the big city. It feels cumbersome in traffic and bigs cars can bully it easily due to the low height.
Felicidades Tony
I like it the exhaust needs more growltwo exaust need two glass pack mufflers make the bike for 6' 2" riders i would like a 150 cc for Bermuda.
I’d consider it, but have reservations about the size of the tank.
Enjoy and thanks for watching
At what speed can you do long distance - I ask because several times I've read that at highway speeds the vibration through the handlebars is annoying??
Nice hi from Sibiria!
Hello there!
Hi, it’s more the riding position than either the seat or suspension. If you have shorter legs it’s not so much a problem.
