I'm sorry to even mention this. But I am lore nerd, you painted the fire caste emblem on the cryo tank not the air caste. Also tau blood is blue to purple in colour because it uses cobalt as an oxygen binding molecule rather than iron like humans. I know such nit picking much wow. Love absolutely love this diorama so far!
Hey just curious - How many of the Squid special edition air-brushes were sold? It looks like there was high demand!! BTW check spam folders - that is where I found my updates.
It is just so incredible what you guys can do at that scale. When you pain that tiny little DNA strand on the monitor I had to do a double take. Incredible.
Looks awesome. Could be a cool thing to maybe add some kind of doorway or something on one of the walls, that could maybe make it look less like a box in the ground and more like an actuall underground lab.
This project is absolutely insane! So glad I get to watch the whole process. Even though the lab isn't 100% finished it still looks absolutely incredible. If you just left it there it would still be sick as hell. Can't wait to see what's yet to come.
Watching them work on this has given me a new perspective on Dioramas. Enough to consider working on some outside of just wargaming models now. so much freedom to express and tell as story,
You guys have the best job in the world. As a painter who doesn't play except maybe 1 time a year and has a career that takes up 40+ hours a week I am so envious of how you get to interact with the hobby. Unlike anyone else in the world. Congratulations.
Amazing work. I'm not sure how feasible it is, but maybe a flickering LED light above the table for added creep factor. Can't wait to see this completed!
There should be a door in the genestealer room in my opinion, that way it is implied that there is way more stuff there instead of just one room. ;) Love the project and cant wait where you will take it!
This. Oh, the ammount of room that can be sugested with a simple door! A CLOSED door, even. If you make the door half-open (as if someone is just opening it from the other side, to enter the room) - or even fully open, letting you see a trompe l'oeil of another room - or even, _a gallery full of closed doors..._
This is absolute dope. You could add in the back of the lab a small mirror, so people can see the back of the table and minis. And it would add some extra detail in the form of a "observation glass" where all the other mad genestealer scientists gather and observe the work.
The Cryotube is the most next level thing Ive ever seen! Those tiny details are mind bending. The little display screen with the DNA strand and the heart beat monitor, like INSANE DETAIL!! I love the colors on the tube, the rust, the leaking, but mostly that little window on the bottom looking at the sloshing goo, OMG gorgeous! Truly some talented artists wow you guys rock!
Well, TECHNICALLY it should be clear. Lore says their blood contains cobalt in stead of iron, which iirc is clear when oxygenated and yellowish when not. But the colour the writers want tau blood to be is blue.
You guys have grown so much in skill this last year it's insane! From filming, editing, painting, making dioramas. You were already good but it seems like even you guys can improve! Can't wait to see what 2022 has in store for us if this is how 2021 is ending!
When you first designed this whole thing out. I loved the idea of the manta and like and the egg cave. And I loved the egg cave but I had my doubts about this lab. Boy was I wrong it's my favourite part so far
The kill team Rouge trader box has a lot of monitors and pods and stuff like that, its something you might want to look in to for the terrain in that box is probely stuff you can use
I'm gonna vote for installing some of those flourerescent hospital light fixtures in the roof of that room, with few tiny white LEDs in them. That would just nail the mood :D
The paint jobs you guys pull of on the minis here with time constraints and the rest of the diorama waiting is just incredible! This is definitely the coolest diorama I’ve seen!
wow it turned out much better than expected! To make a little more horror impression I would add flashing lights on the ceiling, maybe even in a strange color like pink or green
What a fun crafting journey this was! 🌟 I ADORE the cryotube and dang you’re brave for drilling a hole in it for the LED - but the risk was so worth it in the end 👏
I think this is my favorite part of the build so far. I love creating tableaux's that tell a great visual story, and grunge and decay is my favorite aesthetic. So much more interesting than pristine imagery. I can't wait to see it finished with all the lighting fixtures you mentioned. Some sort of strobing warning light would be super cool if it can be pulled off.
6:56 You shouldn't need to pull the seal over the rim of the pot, those normally work by the vacuum pulling the lid down and so the rubber gets squished between the pot and the lid. It looks like it didn't cause you any problems but it might be more convenient in future
Looks so sick, your videos have inspired me to start painting my old Warhammer 40k's again. For more detail i would maybe add some severed bloody limbs sticking out of the bin/sink, i think it would add to the gory feel of the place
All the things you're doing is absolutely marvellous, love your work ! Hoping Lucas is going well ! I'm asking myself if some kind of flashing white led who could look lile an old néon light wouldnt be a great idea on this part of the project, it would make some insane and old mad-scientist laboratory ambiance
That cryotube looks incredible! Makes me want to try out something like that. Also, Lukas' excitement about painting the chainsaw guy was very relatable. MmMmRrRrRrWwWmMm!
Some FYI on Tamiya X-22. It's an alcohol (isoprop) and glycol ether (a bit of a retarder). Tamiya X, XF is an acrylic but does not mix with water-based acrylics (vallejo, AK3rd Gen, Citadel, etc). Enamel, Acrylic, Lacquer refers to what the dried paint surface is made of - not the solvent/liquid it is carried in. I build aircraft, armour and cars but have recently gotten into warhammer figures from watching Squidmar. X-22 is my go-to for gloss clear coat before decals and weathering. With an appropriate thinner at 1:1 sprayed at 15-20 psi, it creates a nearly indestructible protective coat - stands up to hotter decal setting solutions like MicroSol and Solvaset, weathering products, etc. And while we're on the subject of X-22, a PSA about X-21 (Flat Base). This is NOT a flat coat - it's to make gloss paints flat by breaking up the bonds that make dried paint glossy. For flat coat, use XF-86, but you might find its closer to a Satin when compared with water-based flat coats from Vallejo/AK.
EPIC!! You guys are the GOAT when it comes to world creation & painting. I would recommend a 'flickering' light above (like all horror movies - flickering fluorescents). Each part of this MEGA-Diorama could stand on its own. Amazing!
Hi Emil, very great job, everything is absolutely perfect in every single part, wonderful minis, and really a great idea, thanks for let us watch the whole creating process
This is fantastic and so well made! Maybe add a door leading to a tunnel (use a print of a gloomy sci-fi tunnel as illusion of depth) to the back wall as it looks a little empty.
Side note. Would love to see an international painting comp between you Vince V, Miniac, Ninjon, and anyone else on UA-cam who is an insane mini painter. Just food for thought.
squidmar awesome video dude, love the little cryo tube but when you peeled the masking tape off the acyrlic you can see the tape residue, just use abit of car body polish and that would get rid of the residue of the tube as well as make it stand out even more
Awesome video as always. Interesting to see how it will look once you revisit it. One tiny detail, I think the last bit of gore with the UHU glue from the arm to the bucket is way too thick and looks weird! Looking forward to get your special airbrush any day now. Excited!
Such well executed mini projects within the larger project, simply amazing haha. This needs an award of some kind seriously! You guys have dedication and imagination I hope to aspire to some day as a mini modeler barely a year in.
If you want to try out the brushes we use when we paint you can find the Squidmar Brushes & Exclusive miniatures here: www.squidmar.com/latepledge

Looks awesome. Could be a cool thing to maybe add some kind of doorway or something on one of the walls, that could maybe make it look less like a box in the ground and more like an actuall underground lab.
Could add a rusty hatch on the surface too as an entrance.
I agree an entry-exit would make this feel more like cannon
Perhaps some lift doors…
Yeah, a door or some hatch that is large enough for the giant glass tube to fit through.
I like to imagine that the door is located in the forth wall that is not attached so that we can actually see the diorama😮
This project is absolutely insane! So glad I get to watch the whole process. Even though the lab isn't 100% finished it still looks absolutely incredible. If you just left it there it would still be sick as hell. Can't wait to see what's yet to come.

I would for sure watch a real time video of Lukas painting green displays. They always look absolutely other worldly ❤❤❤
the Tau in the cryo tube looks really amazing, great work!!
am i the only one who would love to see more really big, really diverse projects like this? far more interesting than one episode things imo
The Cryotube is the most next level thing Ive ever seen! Those tiny details are mind bending. The little display screen with the DNA strand and the heart beat monitor, like INSANE DETAIL!! Dude - Lukas needs more Props - that Mans Freehand skills are INSANE much love from Germany
Agree 🤙🤙🤙
Thanks a lot!
That man is a beast!
I’m watching all these and everything has been so well executed and the videos are amazing. Can’t wait to see the final product.
Emil, Lukas, Victor. You Guys are the Godfathers of Creativity. Impressed Greatings from Germany.
The way he says LED's, love you man. 👍
Hope Lucas is feeling better soon. Awesome job on the project.
One of the best projects on UA-cam right now. Can't wait to see your progress.
14:00 small detail but Tau blood should be blue/purple. Looks amazing nonetheless!
Maybe they subscribe to the Farsight theory of Tau blood
Found the tau boy.
Nobody cares.
Well, TECHNICALLY it should be clear. Lore says their blood contains cobalt in stead of iron, which iirc is clear when oxygenated and yellowish when not. But the colour the writers want tau blood to be is blue.
Depends what they've done to this particular, unfortunate specimen.

inside the diorama walls try doing some small caves with maby a skull or a unidentifided alien lurking somewhere in the diorama
Is Victor like the unknown hero of this operation ? Quietly toiling away behind the scenes doing the real work that makes you 2 look good ?!
Oh for sure, he and Maxime does great work with the editing 🥳
Aside from the usual amazing skill on display, those freehand screens done by Lucas truly blew me away.
I appreciate that they tiled the walls of their makeshift lair on an abandoned planet.
They got their priorities straight
Crazy project, each part of it is a diorama by itself
This project just keeps getting better and better. The crio tube is just perfect on itself.
the amount of talent and skill on the squidmar team is unparalled, you guys make some seriously badass art
this is a thing of beauty. Also: cleanest hospital room in the 41st millenium

Absolutely stunning. The details Lukas did on those computer terminals is jaw-dropping stuff, and all that gore is wonderfully 40k.
