Even on rewatch, it does’t get boring. I have seen the first season countless times, and still enjoy it.

thing I love about the first episode: Thors' implied character arc based on the difference between him in the first scene, and him when he pays 8 sheep to save a single dying slave. also, Thorfinn getting all mad at Leif's story about their ancestors running away to Iceland, only to immediately go home and be faced with the horrible condition of this runaway slave, thereby displaying the reason why someone would need to go "somewhere, not here" which is also the phrase that answers Thorfinn's question at the end of the episode.
thing I love about the second episode: the kids in the village getting all excited about war because they want to make a name for themselves, just like Thors and his reputation. all while Thors' reputation is forcing him to leave his home, and the life he chose, and trapping him into a path he'd never choose if it was really up to him. it really emphasizes that when Thors says "you have no enemies" while Thorfinn says he's lying... Thors is an experienced warrior and knows exactly what he's saying, while Thorfinn is six, and doesn't really know what he's talking about.
Thors' words sounds harder to believe on the face of it, but every person who watches this episode has no trouble calling out the naivety of the village kids. also, when the dad of the injured kid says that Thorfinn takes after Thors, because he's strong enough to hurt one of the older children, you can tell that really bothers Thors a lot. it's interesting that Thors probably didn't talk much about his past, because he probably came to regret the things he'd done... but maybe he should've talked about it more. his history was what taught him what he knows, after all.
also, early episode predictions are all well and good, but I love how we get there. whether you're right or wrong, the show is still moving in interesting ways, right where it is.

You guys are in for a treat. This is my favorite anime. This season is so good but season 2 is legit up there for the one of the best seasons of any anime. This show actually changed a lot of peoples perspective on life. I don't watch a lot of reactions to vinland saga because most of the themes and storytelling goes over people's heads. But you guys seem to be getting it so far, so im very excited for this series reaction.

This show is such a perfect one to have two different starting points before the second season, since I really feel like vinland never stops punching up to try and create this kind of maturity and realism that feels so honestly written, so you'll both have plenty to look forward to.
And although the writing matures too, even from the beginning I feel there's a dedication to keeping each character faithful to their circumstance's and age and each detail, it makes for a very consistent and rewarding experience to invest in, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys think as you get deeper in for sure !

A thing to recognize is that this anime is loosely based on historical events and knowledge of this part of history and legends from the time can enhance the experience.
