Please dont expect Mushoku Tensei to much to have alot of action, yeah there's an action element on Mushoku tensei but the series much more heavier on Drama and Fantasy aspect rather than Battle shounen anime like (JJK, Solo Leveling, Demon Slayer, or another Battle Shounen Isekai). There's no Shounen moment at least for now, so before action and shounen moment S1 and S2 will focus on Rudeus character development, world building, side characater development, LORE DROP. So try to catch all the Lore drop as much as you can before the Shounen moment.

Is now a good time to mention the odd fact the artist for the manga of this series was tried for tax evasion of around 299,000 USD of taxes. They are working on the repayment of it and are still working on the manga adaptation.

I had to chuckle when the old lady told Lakan "she's gone!" and later Graham was wondering why Lakan never went to see her. Dude was told she was gone, that either means she was dead or she had been sold off somewhere else with no way to track her down. Even if everyone else knew she was still alive Lakan was not afforded that same information. So instead he clings to the one thing that's left of the woman he loved, his daughter. Even if she wants nothing to do with him and the old woman refuses to sell her to him he keeps visiting the Verdigris House in the hopes of being around her.

At the start George mentioned how in hindsight he appreciates earlier episodes that seemed to have nothing to do with the plot because it's been revealed that they in fact did. As someone who has read ahead I can say this story is very good at giving you information and then it coming back around way later.

I've been reading the manga and the full trailer for season 2 just dropped and there's a LOT of great stuff coming up. Based on how many chapters went into season 1 season 2 may end on a cliffhanger.

5:23 Her (Maomao's mom) disease was explained 2 times already, once in the episode you just saw.... dunno how you keep missing it. She choose to have a child to make Lakan buy her out and because she was in love, but it was timed horribly because Lakan was sent away. Thanks to the pregnancy she lost her status as a high-ranking courtesan and had to take costumers from all kind of status to make enough money to stay at the Verdigres House with her child. But cheap low level costumers were often disease ridden and one of those costumer infected her.

No way the old lady would say to anyone that her top courtesan has sífilis now. That would be the end of the business, all the women on the street. And the author made shure to show us how rich people take advantage of courtesans in that ep they try to kill the rich dude, 1st by poison than stabbing him.

I feel like you guys should rewind some scene during your last discussion instead of just relying on memories, cause a lot of time you got so shocked that you ended up missing details like the reason why the mom got sick.

I'm a nerd so it's gonna be long. Actually Fenxian was the one who didn't let Lakhan know that she was alive. The old lady was only following Fenxians will and keep the honour of the verdigris house. After lakhan didn't reply or in actualitiy Lakhan never got those letters. Lakhan's father blocked them and didn't sent to him as to not get gim distracted. And Fenxian only knew Lakhan's home address not the abroad one. The real villain is Lakhan's father.l Fenxian thought that Lakhan got the letters but abandoned her and maomao, so she cursed him with the finger curse. Now another thing is , when a courtesan looses their value, they have to take any customer. They loose the privilege of declining customers. As Fenxian was very popular everyone wanted her. Even low class ones. That's the rule. Because of taking so many customers in nightly work she cought syphilis. That's when she finally lost it. Her plan to get bought out by the man she loved didn't work. Even it was a very clever and calculated plan. So she ended up giving the finger curse. Syphilis is a disease were you have vary unpleasant skin conditions and you slowly loose your mind. tertiary syphilis can lead to brain and cardiovascular diseases, among other conditions. She would've died long ago but because of maoma's adopted dad she was lasting long. Anyway when she caught it she thought that Lakhan wouldn't want her anymore, so she cursed him and declared herself dead to lakhan and the world. So even after loosing her memories the old lady followed her will and no one revealed it . That's why Maomao pharesed it as "Even though it's a weathered rose it can still retain it's shape" Also when Meimei cried she said "You should've been truthful , sister. Why did you remain stubborn until the end?" She was talking about her not revealing her alive to Lakhan when he came back. She was kinda sane back then. It was merely the thought that a noble wouldn't want a diseased courtesan. And maomao never went with him because she wanted to stay with Loumen. That's mostly all 😅 Sorry for ranting.

I think old lady is Fenxin's mother and she didn't tell him because lowering her value ruined her daughter's life. she's pissed. honestly I blame Mao maos paternal grandfather. he failed to be the parent his son can come to and say "father I love a woman and want to marry." he screamed at everyone, bossed people around, and up heaved their lives like they had nothing going on. his brother lost his knee caps and he yells at him like he failed. he was going to leave his wife because his child had a disability... btw the royal family is insanely harsh in their punishments no wonder Mao-mao thought she'd be put to death at one point and requested her mode of execution...

I think Meimei also loved Lakan. As a "it would be nice if we were together". That's why she cried so much. Mao mao also knew this and hoped Lakan would pick Meimei, because she didnt think anyone could love a courtesan who lost all value. Meimei had to let go of their own love cause she knew Lakan's and Fengxian's feelings. Also I think in the manga it said Lakan spent 300,000 silver.

At the time Lakan came back to Verdigris, FengXian is indeed already gone. Shes in uncurable state and already lost her sanity. The old lady have no way to know Lakan actually love FengXian and will take her no matter her condition.

25:50 I agree with George that the scene where the mom is stabbing down on Maomao is of her severing a portion of Maomao’s finger. The idea of her trying to kill her was likely a misdirect. One of the letters that the mom sent to Lakan had her finger and a smaller piece. And later, in the last episode, Maomao tells Jinshi that the tips of fingers can grow back (if it got cut off when you’re a baby). Also, Graham’s theory that the mom got diseased (she got syphilis) because her value as a courtesan got zeroed due to her pregnancy and she had to take on any customer… was said earlier in the episode, but I guess both of you missed it, lol.

Yes you finally picked up on the "idea" that these high ranked hunters can be a mess with how much power they hold like S-Ranks and above the law (recontextualized the criminal hunters?). What the show does is show you how society is reshaped if such an event would turnout. What is right what is wrong? What do you seek to do? And so on. Nothing wrong with just taking it as a power-lvl fantasy show and enjoy the action, but SL does give you things to consider, as the main protagonist grows in power and how he has to rethink his position to the people he is connected to. While only a bit of content with Yoo Jinho (the rich kid), he makes a great person for Sung Jin-woo to interact with. That you had nothing to say about him kind of shows how well he fits? And yes you are right the young female hunter is the classmate of his sister.

You talked a bit about how this show actually explores the mechanics of the reincarnation and Rudy's previous life is important unlike other reincarnation isekais. I want to point out that the original source material is actually one of the earlier isekais that popularized a lot tropes seen today. It just took a long time for it to get an anime adaption, so a lot of series that were riding off of its popularity went to TV first. This means that over time stories stopped caring about fleshing out the reincarnation and just focused on the fantasy world, but since THIS story was one of the firsts it still needed to flesh that stuff out because it was still a fresh concept and thus needed audiences to buy into the premise.

Ruijerd's story is grossly oversimplified in the anime. I don't know if you catch it, the hand-like tree branches Ruijerd was burning when Rudeus woke up. The anime never explains it, but the light novels do. Mana tends to accumulate in places like forests, and the mana changes animals into monsters. But it also can turn trees into monsters called Treants. Any particular animal-style monster will only be found in certain locations around the world, but Treants are found everywhere. They can take different shapes, but they're all tree-like monsters. What Ruijerd was burning were Treant branches. Demon Continent has almost no vegetation so they have to hunt monsters for firewood (or use giant tortoise shells to build homes). So all VAs had to undergo special lessons to learn the respective made-up languages for this show. Everything in a different language and any text shown here like that book Rudeus read in Ep1 is translatable. There was a Reddit and Twitter thread where people were actively trying to decipher the language and was able to be deciphered by fans. There is a UA-cam video, on how the entire process is done. It shows a dedication to the fantasy genre and the anime as a whole. Most authors or studios would never bother with that level of detail but it adds such a unique plot point to a show where some characters struggle or can't communicate probably. It's for obvious reasons quite hard to create your own language.

Well if you think seeing himself as his past life self settle that he is more a spirit than a body, you couldn't be more wrong. But i can understand from what you come from. To really settle that matter one and for all: je is a child with memories of his past life.
