Since I was rather young when she was on the Ed Sullivan show, I forgot her name over the years, but I never forgot her animated face and those lively eyes as well as her songs and very bubbly personality! Nice to see that Teresa Brewer is still remembered by young and old alike! Thanks Ed Sullivan which my family watched religiously every Sunday night in the 1960s!

I was born in '51 and dearly still remember this in Sydney on my folks Astor Mickey Radio. I remember a lot of those old songs. They were all great songs and you actually had to have a very, very good voice + talent to get there. Teresa is at the top with both.

I love this song. It's from THE BIG 1956. Along with Sweet Old-Fashioned Girl and Mickey Mantle. She did a duet of it on the Perry Como show too.
Great quality kinescope and ESS seems to be doing it right, but it shows that the technology in those days was not reliable. Some pictures turn out narrow and some wide.

Does anyone know if those Como shows are available?

Thank you so much for another wonderful Teresa Brewer performance! This is a cute song. She also performed "Gonna Get Along Without You Now" again on this episode, but this time with some neat special effects. I saw a small clip of it in a prime-time "Very Best of Ed Sullivan" special in the early '90's, and would love to see the whole video! That was the very first time I saw Teresa on TV. :) Thanks again for these wonderful videos on one of the best channels on UA-cam! It's a joy to see what you post each day!

@@TomElvisSmith Well if they read our comments then i hope for finally high quality of the Chordettes' performance of Lollipop with kids dresses and lollipops. I guess you know which one it is.

@@SbrPL Yes, I know the one you mean. I'm a fan of the Chordettes; they had incredible harmonies. I'm hoping for high quality videos of the Chordettes singing "Mr. Sandman" and "Just Between You and Me" on the Sullivan show.

A bit before my time. But a terrific singer none the less.

Most of the recordings of this song were duets. Gene Kelly was a major fan of Teresa Brewer, and said she is so talented that she didn't need to do this as a duet.

Reached #21 on rhe Billboard chert. As they post her appearances, it seems that the uptempo numbers did better than the ballads. In the previous video, Ed intros "One Love" as her latest hit, but that ballad topped out at #75.

Some of her ballads that we haven't seen yet did very well too. "Till I Waltz Again with You" was a #1 Billboard hit, "A Tear Fell" charted at #5 in the US and was her biggest UK hit charting at #2 over there, "Empty Arms" and "Pledging My Love" were both Top 20 hits. "Let Me Go Lover", which we did see, charted at #6. I think "The One Rose" would have charted much higher but it was released in late 1958 when rock and roll had really taken hold. Of course, she had many, many uptempo songs that charted well too. All in all, she had at least 42 records that charted somewhere in Billboard and/or the UK singles chart. I think there might be some Cash Box chart singles that I'm not counting there too. I hope we will also see "I Think the World of You" which didn't chart, but she performed on the Sullivan show. I love that song too!

Not much more! She was a cute little firecracker who was still appearing on television when I was an adult, notably in The Muppet Show. A dynamic performer!

Who said that? The people at Perry Presents? They cheated and lied to her, so if she complained that makes her the problem in your twisted mind?

    • @TomElvisSmith

I've actually heard it stated that she never said an unkind word about anyone or anything during an interview. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about her either. By all accounts, she was a wonderful person and entertainer, and Ed liked her so much, he invited her on the show more times than any other pop singer.
