Everything is there. The music, the lyrics, the looks, the voice, oh and did I mention *THE VOICE* She has some vocal inflections that don't fit into any key yet are totally right. Her singing alone is sexy without ever being gratuitous. Perfect!
Melba Moore, is an award winning American singer and actress. She was born in New York City on October 29, 1945. She just celebrated her 77th birthday on October 29, 2022
Melba Moore never ages, it's amazing to think that since her debut album release in 1970, she has gone on from strength to strength & still performing, sounding as good as ever, a true testimony to her inner resolve, this Disco smash is from 1976
This song is the face of the 70s, the instruments, the harmonious backing vocals, things that you don't see anymore nowadays, it's a shame, thank goodness I lived through that decade at the right time, I was there, I didn't hear about it, I didn't read about it anywhere, it was live in real time.
I was hoping this was the song I thought it was but was not expecting it to be… what and amazing voice…. I have heard this song how manytimes over the years and I never knew this gracious women’s name: > Melba More < I now know what she looks like and who she actually is. She is etched into my history… what a talent
I was a big fan of Danni Minogue's cover back in the 90s, although until today I hadn't known it was a cover. Melba Moore's 1976 original is just amazing. Love love love!
People say I look a little like her there right I do our noses are it only means we might be from a different but from one sisterhood she is divinely beautiful and I'm honored to be compared
Such Majestic Voice From A Supreme Lady. I'm Right Back To Where I First Heard This Unbelievable Classic From A Awesome Era. Thank You For This Amazing Great Classic.
I Chose this track for our exit down the Aisle when we married on the Thames last year! I It was fantastic...glad I chose something I wanted rather than what is expected! x
Before '79 or so every major studio production would have full string and brass sections. That's why recordings from the 70's sounded so organic and rich. A couple of years later synths took over and made live orchestration impractical. I used to hate the BeeGees back in the day, but looking back now from this wasteland of contemporary 'music', boy, that rich, warm sound of 'Stayin' Alive'!
This song has so much energy and passion and of course was part of that fabulous 1976 'invasion' of our British charts of soul and disco artists. Why then is the lovely Melba so reserved on this performance. The audience are of course as always so fabulously cool and wonderful. Love, love love this song.
wow wow how good is this i was 15 years old when this came out and still play it most days music is a massive soother for me as i can remember were i was at that perticullar time when songs came out
Lord have mercy, how I use to steps to this song on the disco floor in Jamaica in my young days. Melba Moore "Stepped into my Life and I was Oh so happy." I "Lean on Me" and found out what's on "The other side of the Rainbow." The good old days with the incomparable Melba, holding her notes for about 36 seconds at the end of both songs.

Watching the voice and this song came to mind. Had to listen to it and now realize why I have never heard anyone but Melba singing it...no one could sing Lean on Me like her.
I remember this song very well. I was a student at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland when this song came out. I am still listening to it July 5, 2022.
Buscandola por buen tiempo, hasta qué la encontré un clásico de inicios de la música disco grandes recuerdos de adolescencia, gracias por aportar está música:)
For all the years I've watch Melba Moore perform that's all I've ever seen her do is sway and move her shoulders. With all her great dance recordings can she even dance? However, I still love her.
@@mickwhitehead5879 That entire album with The Hustle., Disco Baby, was superb. When I start feeling disco-ish, I put it on.Van also wrote "When You're Young and In Love" for The Marvalettes.
Van McCoy left his mark on the industry and had an opportunity to work some of the best in the industry. The vocal backings add so much to the feeling - truly missed

I can truly say THIS IS IT !!!😊
One of my all time disco classics, these where commercial recording but just listen to all the parts in the backing - it's a symphony.

The long hot summer of 1976 in the UK. This terrific Van McCoy produced recording was a massive top 10 hit on the UK singles chart.
OMG - only ever heard the Danii Minogue version. Have to say this is much better! Love that 70's groove thang!
the song holden used to advertise the first ever commodores from 1978.i wonder what they will use for the new imports.
Yes! Melba feels the lyrics and Dannii really doesn't. Check out Lena Zavaroni's version as well.
No comparison.
Best disco beat ever! I loved this song for soooooo long!
End of gig track, floor empied smiling. Couldn't top it mid venue.
