The man can play that bass!! I'm 62 and still listening!
SAME!!....
I’m so glad I grew up on feel-good music like this, not the depressing crap churned out today!
There was a plan with the crappy music they make today. Bring people down on purpose, dont listen to it. Rap music to bring the worst out in people..Ask yourself why black people went from being these amazing singers and musicians to just obscenity producers. They are talented with a lot of amazing abilities but the nefarious ones dont want humanity to love and care for each other, they want division.
@@angelaursula6553 Damn, I never thought about it that way...
@@pijcab Another thing look at all those people healthy looking and happy. If you look at a good percentage of people in the US these days, overweight, unhappy, there is a dark energy around them. It has been done to them, they need to reclaim back their power. Not in an aggressive, divisive way, but recapture the love, remember who they are, representatives of God on earth. Happiness will never come from fighting and anger, it comes from taking responsibility for oneself and bringing communities together, following the decency of the past, and supporting each other.
@@angelaursula6553 Very wise words, madam. Totally agree, either done willingly or unwillingly, we as a society started to focus on divise and dark sides of social interactions. We need to go back to not using stereotypes, other outside knowledge gathered from social media or he said she said but rather judge on the interactions you directly have with people...
Yes and Amen. Nothing Ike it.
This isn't a song... It's AN ANTHEM!!!!!

You're absolutely right
The 80's were real music, we will never get tired of hearing it.
Never! 😍
I think after the 80s, music went downhill.
Love the 80's that was my time , I was 20 yrs.old in 1980 , thought the party would never end...miss my youth..
Agree
I agree but to me this song still has that late 70s sounds which is my favourite. This is from 1980 after all so makes sense I guess
The epitome of diversity, inclusion, harmony and funk! God, please take me back.
It’s sublime!
Yep we always had inclusion. Never really understood why today they act inclusion is such a new thing. All virtue signaling.
When I hear Disco/Funk I get the feeling that everything will be ok
Good Times back then, no doubt.
Dope comment. Today it's all lip service brother... Back then it was real!!!
Shout out to Rod Temperton, a white brother from Great Britain, originally the keyboardist and songwriter of 80's R&B group Heatwave, for writing this track as well as many other famous funk and R&B tracks of the late 70s and early 80s, including Give Me the Night (George Benson), several tracks on Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall' and 'Thriller' albums, including 'Thriller' itself! Goes to show you that music has no race or color.
Marvinolds, The late/great ROD Temperton, whether one knows it or not, was one BAAAAD songwriter/organist. Making a long story short, he deserves a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is already in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
It’s not a contest.

The bass sound is simply incredible.
They called Louis Johnson "Thunder Thumbs" for a reason.
The violin is an important ingredient.
There is some trumpet as well in this song.
I think there is no saxophone but often, saxophone means an automatic great song.
What's up with today's music? It is lacking instruments.

Rest in peace, Louis Johnson! (1955-2015), masters of music. I'm from Wales in the UK and this is pure class.... This is what Music is really about.... Proper music........ xxxxxx
I agree mate. This is music and fun to listen too. By the way I am a Welsh boyo too :)
+Phillip I'm from the UK as well, London, and my mother was from Tredegar Wales. I agree with you, the standard of music back in those days was so much higher than today. So sorry to hear Louis Johnson has passed. It's scary because he was younger than I am. Tonight I was just surfing the old hits on, youtube and I found out two great performers have passed. The other one was Renee Diggs from the group Starpoint. A lady with a beautiful voice, who was very easy on the eyes. Her group were also great musicians, like the Brothers Johnson.
+Harold Baker Did they play this type of music on welsh radio back when it was out?
+Hashi Achukma; Hello, Yes they did and today there are a few Radio Franchises as well as the BBC and all will play this type of music.

I wanna play it, dance to it, eat ,drink and sleep this song. I listen at least thrice a month.
You might call me old fashioned, but disco and funk were the greatest. And I am white and straight. Most rap, dubstep and hip hop music of today sucks!
I am right there with you. The so called wannabes we are seeing are just Masquerading as music players. They lack vision, talent, clarity of thoughts, and the garbage lacks passion and they substituted profanity and attacks on women as their tonal selling points. That is not music 🎵, that is oppressive!😢

Wow I never knew that! Amazing❤
This song and MJ’s “Get on the floor” are like brothers and were recorded pretty much at the same time and by almost the same musicians.
Just pure magic.
I don't hear him or see him. If true his contribution was really unnecessary.
Well, that was because of his own rising popularity that began with his 1979 solo album, Off the Wall. Interestingly enough, he did co-write "This Had to Be" with the two Johnson brothers, and then, after the Brothers Johnson had split in 1982, he hired Louis Johnson to play bass on his second solo album, Thriller.
The other connection between Jackson and the Brothers Johnson: Quincy Jones, who also produced Jackson's Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad. Light Up the Night! was the last Brothers Johnson album he had produced, and when he had left A&M Records (the Brothers Johnson's label) he was contractually not allowed to have any dealings with the brothers.
It's 2022. I remember listening to this song over 40 years ago. When you listen to it today, you hear a great band with great rhythm and great lyrics that still sounds makes you move your head and tap your feet.
