If you have weight loss and personality changes don't assume the potassium issues and cough are related to Lispriosol.
My husband had the issues listed above and some anemia.
Doctors suspected Dementia because he was 73 years old.
He went to the ER because his cough was worse at the end of June and he was weak and vomiting. He was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia. Additionally he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the lungs and lymph nodes, esophagus, liver, kidneys and brain. He went on Hospice in early July and died 3 weeks later. I am still in shock.

I had a doctor (who was a quack) that changed my long-time amlodipine to lisinopril. I was a mess. I had constant heart palpitations and I could hardly walk I was so dizzy. Even sitting on the couch, the room would spin. I've always kept track of my BP at home and my BP shot up to 190/105!! I tried to tell him that it was not for me and I thought it was doing more harm than good, but he said, "My mother took it for 50 years and it worked for her." I stopped taking it after 3 months and went back to amlodipine and felt much better. I now list lisinopril as an allergy on my medical records.....and I got a different doctor.

I was on Lisinopril for years and developed a dry cough so bad that I would go into uncontrollable coughing spasms to the point of losing control of my bladder. This was particularly embarrassing at work as I was an elementary school teacher and it happened in front of the class one day. Fortunately it was just before lunch and my mom was available to bring a change of pants.
I went to a doctor who knew I was on this medication but diagnosed me with asthma. A few years later I moved to another state and didn't have health care for about a month and had run out of the Lisinopril and I soon noticed that my cough had gone away. I just thought it was because our air was cleaner. When I finally got health care I asked for a refill for my inhaler. The doctor listened to my lungs and told me I didn't have asthma. He also thought I should go on HBP meds. I told him I had been taking Lisinopril then he told me that was probably the source of my cough. I had no idea and I had been taking it and coughing for years.

I am glad you found thr source of your discomfort. I am a dialysis patient who was taking licenopril. My blood pressure fluctuated and my pulse rate increased. Since I stopped the drug my pulse rate was normal.
I went to my health care provider 3 times and complained about blood in my urine. They took blood tests and they said the results were normal. Three months later I went for a second opinion and was told that my kidneys were shutting down.
Now, I am on dialysis and on the transplant list.
Today you must be proactive with your health care. You must get a second opinion and research every medicine that your doctor prescribes.

I had fairly high BP and my Doctor started me on 5mg lisinopril. My BP went down much more than I expected on a low dose and sometimes I experienced dizziness. Checking my BP I could see that it was often low. With exercise I dropped my lisinopril to 2.5 QD (half tab) and check my BP. It seems to be working okay for now.

I was on Lisinopril for ten years. Out of the blue, I woke up one morning thinking I was getting a sore throat. I looked in the mirror and could actually see my tongue starting to swell. I was life-flighted to a good hospital. I am totally unconscious. They put a tube in my throat and put me in a coma for three days, until the swelling went down. It was very traumatizing. I looked it up and they have been trying to get it off the market. The doctor told me that it was very "touch and go". It was horrible.

I had been taking this medication for almost 11 years until one morning when I got up with my tongue completely swollen and couldn't even talk well at all. Luckily my daughter rushed me to the emergency room at the hospital. The very first question the doctor asked was, "Do you take Lisinopril?" I told him that I had been on it for a long time, but he said that did not matter. Reactions could take place at any times. Fortunately, it didn't affect my ability to breathe. However, from that time on, I have not taken it at all.

You got lucky and had a competent doctor. My brother had swelling in his abdomen from this poison and his doctor didn't make the connection. He had huge knots in his stomach and severe pain. I found out it was lisinopril through google and once he stopped taking it, no more knots and pain. It can also cause people to become schizophrenic. There are people who were put on lisinopril, became schizophrenic and were locked up for years in mental wards. One woman I read about was locked up for 7 years until a family member learned through google that lisinopril caused her problem. She was taken off lisinopril and 2 days later the schizophrenia was gone. This stuff is literally poison. It's made from the venom of the South American pit viper. Years agoi a scientist noticed the snake killed its prey by the venom lowering the blood pressure until the bitten rodent died from heart failure. They estimated how much of this venom you could give a person without killing them.

Thanks for the video Doctor! I'm on Lisinopril (40mg) and HCTZ (25mg) and I'm also on a low sodium-anti-inflammatory diet. Back in March some lab tests showed my Creatinine and BUN levels were high, the ironic thing was they were checking for potassium and magnesium because I was complaining about muscle cramps when I slept even though I'm on methocarbamol (500mg) and ropinirole (1.5mg). Well, my potassium and magnesium were fine and my Creatinine was high because I was eating a lot of lean protein on my diet at the time. I cut back on the protein and the scheduled new labs for September. On July 4th I went to the ER because I could barely walk. My left foot was swollen but it wasn't broken, x-rays confirmed that, it was just fluid build up, so I was given prednisone for 5 days and that fixed me up and no problems since. In June I had a CT scan that showed an enlarged liver with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I had the new labs done last week and my creatinine was at the high end of the normal range but it was still in the normal range. My BUN level was still high but it was lower than it was in March. My CO2 was low and my Uric Acid level was high, which makes sense since acid can lower CO2 levels. The thing is, I eat mushrooms with every salad and I eat one or two salads a day and mushrooms, while high in fiber, are also high in uric acid, so I need to moderate them in my diet. As far as the rest of my labs, any other indication of kidney or liver failure or damage wasn't there. Hematocrit is normal, bilirubin, AST, ALT, Alkaline Phosphate, all normal. It was just the BUN, Uric acid and CO2 that were off. I'm also on two kinds of epilepsy meds, generic Keppra (750mg x 3) and generic Topamax (100mg x 2), and two kinds of sleeping pills, generic Ambien (5mg) and generic Remeron (30mg). Despite the sleeping pills and muscle relaxers I often have insomnia, and I understand the high uric acid is to blame for the muscle cramps. I bought a pillow that elevates my legs when I sleep and that helps with the leg cramps but I wake up with pain around the kidneys. I probably need a new mattress but I prefer sleeping on my side, unfortunately, I can't use the pillow for my legs when I sleep on my side and I wake up with wicked cramps in my legs and feet that require me to get up and walk around. One way or another I'm not getting quality sleep and that's one of my triggers for having seizures. Oh well, there are people worse off. Great channel!

I was prescribed by my doctor for Lisinopril. My body did not put it out and it built up causing my blood pressure to drop far below normal. I drove myself to the nearby hospiral ER. They did a blood test and found a high level of Lisinopril.

I was one of the few, Lisinopril stated to drop my kidney function, I was down to 37% from normal function of >60%. A kidney doctor put my on amlodipine took a while but I am back up to 50 to 60 % kidney function.

I noticed some numbness and tingling when I started taking this med, my blood pressure didn't change they up my dose to 2 times a day the numbness really got bad at night while sleeping arms went so numb they hurt and I was laying on my back with my hands on my chest, and my blood pressure was still at the same levels as within the med, so I took myself off, so I guess it's time to go back to doctor and be a guinea pig for some different blood pressure meds

Please audio mix properly please, your intro and the break music is loud and blaring, having everybody reach for the volume.
Use compression techniques to normalize the audio, so the speech volume is the same as the break music volume. Thank you.

I was prescribed Lisinopril with the diuretic in 2014. I lost my sense of taste and smell, and experienced olfactory hallucinations which were disgusting. They often occurred while I was sleeping, making it impossible to go back to sleep. I went to the doctor and they eliminated the diuretic part which stopped the hallucinations, but my sense of taste and smell has not returned. This has eliminated a lot of joy in my life, adding depression to the list of maladies I continue to suffer.

Two weeks ago my blood pressure was 212/128 and I was taking extra blood pressure medicines. I changed my diet completely and this morning my blood pressure is 108/67 and I am completely off of blood pressure medicines. I can teach anybody to do the same. Stop eating all foods that convert to sugar and increase your intake of avocados, walnuts, hemp seed, and a high polyphenol count olive oil, eat lots of fish that is high in omega 3 oils, and green leafy vegetables. Also, take a high-fiber supplement that is pure like psyllium hulls. Do not take Metamucil as it does contain psyllium hulls, however, it also contains other ingredients that are really bad for your intake. The first week you will feel bloated from the high-fiber diet, however, that will pass and the high fiber will lower your cholesterol. Another benefit you will receive is your arthritis (which is only inflammation) will go away. High blood pressure can be completely controlled by diet. I hope this helps and good luck to you.

I was on Lisinopril for over two years and went though hail! I had multiple symptoms including a cough that sounded like I was try to erp up a lung!
I had Gout and it made the symptoms worse and last longer! Do not take this medication 💊 if you have Gout! I went to five Doctors in that time frame.
It was the only drug I was taking, not one said, hey let’s stop the Lisinopril! I am almost back to “normal” now after being off Lisinopril for five months.
I had other symptoms but feel this was too long already. I WAS IN MISERY!
