High heyes is a cracking venue and a place im heavily counting on for the race. It can be tough fishing here but when it’s good it’s really good stocked with a multitude of species. There was a 10c temperature drop overnight which will certainly impact the session and also the rod race. Let’s continue the challenge and see how it turns out.
What is a rod race ? Created by the great Matt Hayes and Mick Brown… it’s a challenge to try catch as many species as you possibly can in a week. This is my first attempt with less than ideal conditions ! But im hoping it will be something different and an exciting and entertaining watch. I will be doing all kinds of fishing from trotting to lures in my attempt to catch em’ all. Wish me luck!

Well westy you've nailed it again. Epic viewing and I said before you should be called Percy verance. Loved that goldfish. We fished yesterday after two frosts here in. Wales. I had 4 (both on westys waters)😮and my partner had 1. Really hard going now the weather had changed. But eh it was just great to sit and enjoy a day out in fresh air. Hope you have dried out and got some sleep. So looking forward to the next installment. Take care.x

Hopefully you head to Wrightington for the Tench. Easy Barbel in the donut at Whitmore if that's not too far for you - probably already finished the race though. Some great Bream in this video and the goldfish aswell WOW. Nice peg too lots of features. Can't wait for the next episode.

It's usually big swings in air pressure that affect fishing as well as the temp bro. Much better when stable for a few days in a row, but been ridiculous lately.

Hiya, Day two done, I think that was very successful considering the weather. The 2 goldfish🐡 pleased me, loved the look of them.
Do you really think the powder you put on helps you considering you have scented baits on your feeder plus you put your liquids on as well.

Honestly Barry, I have no idea if the Betalin powder works. But with the water being so coloured any extra smell and booster must give a slight edge 🎣

@jamiegraham5679 I usually stick to the same tactics throughout winter. Method feeder just find the deep parts of lakes when they move from the margins. Location is everything. And leaving the feeder longer between casts.

I fished last winter December and January and fished the same way I do in the summer and never blanked, averaging 10 carp in a few hours, pellets all year for me.
It’s what we normally do. Venue is key in winter

Good session in the worst conditions, great little gold fish look nice in my pond 😁, the scalation on the mirror carp is absolutely amazing. Keep up the good work but the weather really is horrible, I've packed away my tackle for the winter now just too cold and wet for me. Gwen 🧓
