Amaury’s work is utter perfection. What an amazing talented man. The patience he must have to accomplish something like this it’s unbelievable. What an enormous asset you have at the Château. Not just another wonderful addition to your family there but the talent he brings along with him can’t be measured.
I want to say one thing: I wish that you decorate your own apartment next. I want a grand apartment "de la chatelaine" that you can leave behind as a signature. I know all the rooms have your signature, but I want you to be remembered in the same way the Marquis, bonne mamman and Roger are remembered. And also, I hope Amaury has his name written on the panelling somewhere. He did a splendid job and needs to be remembered for the amazing craftsman that he is

My hat is off to Amaury -the skill to create that paneling is incredible. Most people will never realize what it took to create this - they will just know that it is something so beautiful and something you simply don't see any more.
Amaury! Not only are you a soft spoken (and from what I can see) kind gentleman but you are seriously an amazingly skilled craftsman. What I can see is that this chateau has changed your life by finding you a life partner and a career with your family but YOU have changed the life of the chateau as well. I literally don't think another would have the same amount of love and detail. You are a true asset to this chateau.

Absolute perfection. Amaury is a genius Master craftsman. Steph's ability to see how all the components work together to make a glorious whole is superb. Phillip's eye for detail, color, and proportion is stellar. All the team - Ian the plasterer, Grant flying in from Australia to help out, Jerry, Nattie keeping Amaury well fed and caffeinated, everyone has created a marvel of a room. Could not be more impressed. Hope you were all able to take a few days off to relax and recharge. You deserve to. Deepest thanks to all.
Incredible craftsmanship. This man's dedication to his carpentry is simply breathtaking. Without this skill being 'in the family' the cost would have been so prohibitive, it might never have been done in this room.
And whatever you did agree, it was a bargain. I am in awe of you all, and the way you complement one another in getting the design and execution done so creatively, beautifully. Very well done. Once again, another gem.

Amaury is recreating the work of dozens of skilled artisans from centuries ago. Absolutely amazing! It makes you appreciate what a feat and show of wealth this paneling was back then.
There's this saying "They don't make 'em like they used to". Well there still ARE people who "make 'em like they used to" and Amaury is one of them. There still are craftsmen in many areas (be it woodworking or other specialties) who are still doing this high level of work, still caring about precision, and creating an end product that will last for many years to come. Amaury is a master craftsman, so creative and precise and obviously loves his work. Quietly working away in the background, never seeking attention, he comes across as humble and sincere. A great addition to the chateau family.

What a legacy Amaury is creating throughout the chateau. It reminds me of tours where one reads of the craftsmen and artists who created masterpieces in castles and chateaus of old and how their work and name lives on through generations and centuries. It's magnificent. What a privilege for all of us to be part of and to witness.
I hope the Marquis' family will be able to see Amaury's meticulous and beautiful restorations to continue their family's legacy.
Two of the grandchildren came by a month ago. They spent summers there and said it was not very livable then. They appeared to like all the changes. There were 11 children of the Marquis's generation and 30 grandchildren (if I am remembering what Stephanie said). Up in the attic area in that hallway they just cleaned up a month ago, there were cubicles, not rooms for extra beds when Stephanie first arrived. Remember that Stephanie put in lots of loos and showers in each bedroom also. She hid them in the thick walls and closets. 😘😘😘😘
And it is not only a masterpiece of craftsmenship...it is so well thought through. Just the fact that you can remove each paneling so it could be repaired or just to get a wire behind, this shows that he sees this project (and probably every project) as a whole
Amaury is a craftsman of the highest order. What ever Stephani is paying him, I think he needs a raise.
Amaury looks so happy when he talks about woodworking. His eyes actually twinkle. The room is beautiful. The paneling makes it spectacular.
I certainly hope that Amaury has signed his work behind the paneling and that you have included a history of the room and the inspirations for it's current state to inform the generations yet to be born. It is magnificent.

The mantle is perfectly imperfect. Please don't change it. The dark green is wonderful. Your love for this home is so inspiring and so beautiful I often cry watching you all work so hard. You truly are "planting trees for the futures of people to enjoy shade " eventhough you may never see the full branches. To care for a historical home is never ownership. The paneling is stunning - what an amazing job Amaury has done! And, of course, the wallpapering job (adore the paper, it's perfect) is pretty amazing too. Finally, the colour you eventually went with, as chosen by Phillip, for the over mantle, is absolutely spot on. Brilliant job by all of you, working together (which is the magic of Lalande and one of the things that keeps us watching all of you with such delight and inspiration). Lastly, but not least, how wonderful for you to finally see the Marquis' room as you dreamed it. You must be popping into the room at least 5 times a day to thrill yourself again with what you have created there. Well done!

Amaury is truely a master carpenter. Alot of my childhood was spent in a carpentry shop as my mother drew the shop drawings. I wish I had paid more attention. Job well done Amaury. Doing a job extraordinarly well that will last for ever must be so rewarding.

One of the very best videos yet!! What a room! When you showed it at the end -- the slow pan of the walls -- I was struck at the perfect beauty of that wallpaper. Stunning. The wallpaper is almost like a statue, and Amaury's paneling is its pedestal. The wallpaper is a gorgeous painting, and his paneling is the fabulous frame. Nothing else in the room competes with those two together! So amazing. Thanks for sharing this with us!

The hidden door is genius because it's seamlessly hidden. I actually thought I could see a line for the door opening on the wallpaper until Philip pushed open the door, at which point I realised that I was mistaken and the opening was further along the wall.

I have often been described as a bit dramatic but I had a tear in my eyes when I saw the marquise salon it’s not just the style it’s the fact that you absolutely did it the way it should have been done you did not cut any corners you used solid wood and beautiful elaborate cornices as a classically trained artist I could not have asked for anything to be done more professionally or in keeping with the 16th century nature of the building You should be very proud of yourself very few museums are able to duplicate this quality of work
