CRUZE Diverter valve HPRV vs GFB Big turbo noise BOV with install and tests

Today on Dave's world I install and test the go fast bits diverter valve. I was able to find one that can work in the second generation CRUZE. I originally bought this in an attempt to help kill the big turbo flute noise found in the CRUZE big turbo swaps. I tested the go fast bit GFB version and go over why this one and the BNR bad news racing HPRV are important.

Here is a link to a CRUZE specific diverter. It's designed to work with a stock tune and aftermarket tune. It's also designed to work on a stock turbo or a big turbo. ua-cam.com/video/2Rr_7EsgE34/v-deo.html
Wow, learned that I completely misunderstood how my GFB Diverter even worked. Good to know! Impressively large difference in restriction. I totally thought the orange part moved.
That's why I made this video I felt it was an important one to give to the community. I have a fix for this to work better. And plan on shooting a follow up
HPRV proving again all the time BNR puts into our R&D
The HPRV is a true diverter valve that actually opens. Def needed if your dumb like me an keep pushing those boost numbers up.
So I have a 2019 Chevy Cruze LS. I have so far added a cat back exhaust, throttle body spacer, recirculating valve and a tune obviously. The car runs perfectly but I had to make some modifications, first of all get a tune up, and second of all replace the throttle body pipe as soon as possible to avoid an underboost code because the stock pipe is trash. It will make you car sound like poop. I have to order a pipe from Pegasus racing in Wisconsin. It didn’t take that long to install I might do a video on it. Also make sure your tuner gets your files updated because mine stated I had an air leak which was my throttle body. My codes were P0299 and P1101. I would also recommend getting more transmission oil changes and not exceeding 3k miles per oil change. My car has 70k miles in 3 years of owning it and that’s my main codes I’ve had.
I’m probably going to upgrade my turbo soon, it’s around 2k and I’m going to upgrade my engine valve springs, cylinders the whole 9 yards. And then I’m going to update and add an inter cooler as well. It’s going to be around 2-3k to get everything working perfectly. I’m trying to push 300-400 hp and then probably engine swap it with an ls4. You can only get so much hp out of a 1.4L
Yea those codes are very common. A lot of people contact me for help with them. Your car sounds like a nice healthy build. What does that company charge for those pipes I make the same kit for the oem intercooler.

Good vid Dave keep sharing info
No problem. Doing my best to help everyone!
Hi Dave, got a question is the 1.4 in the Cruze the same as the Opel Astra 1.4 (B14XFT) and did I understand it right would the gfb actually harm the factory turbo?
I have a diverter that fits that engine. The GFB does not open fast enough for the air to escape so you get that weird noise.
@@davesworld2132 thanks for the quick response mate. It is really strange here on the Astra forums the gfb gets a lot of praise. But which one would you recommend? Just took a look on your site and saw you had two types
@@shaunreek3526 it does for some applications because it’s the only thing available. I’m not trying to compete but in the United States if you watch the video you can see what it causes I don’t know if there’s a difference between the two turbos but it does cause a few issues. That’s why I for the USA application I came out with something that works.
@@davesworld2132 I'll ask around the forum if anybody has any weird sounds thanks.
Most inexpensive diverter valve for stock turbo on my cruze
So don’t use the aftermarket diverter valve on OEM turbos?….. I happen to like the fluted sound but after watching this video I might have to reconsider.
So I’m just watching this video now I do want to get your opinion. I have a stock turbo and was curious which diverter in your opinion would be safer
Mine. I developed my own over the years to work safe and sound like a BOV here is a link.

@@davesworld2132 do you have for mk6 gti ed35?
@@tille2603 yes I get them for customers with VW
@@davesworld2132 nice! price? and i live in norway🤣 do you ship? if not what else u recomend to use on this car?
I have a stock Chevy cruise.I added a control valve to the Turbo.What should I do if I need a bypass route?Do I need a diverter valve?Do I need to blow a valve what should I do
I have my own brand you can contact me at my website www.supercruzes.com
@davesworld2132 I plan on keeping my stick turbo for a little while and I need most inexpensive way to assure I won't cause damage to my car now that I have a boost control valve.. having the boost control tool valve open fully and getting on the throttle with everything stock am I going to cause damage to car? If yes do I need a diverter valve and what is cheapest one? Please I am new to turbos
The big question is what about the smaller factory turbo ?
It makes a cool noise but just be mindful that I think the factory turbo will not last as long. The factory thrust bearing is very small.
I already have to replace my factory turbo at around 100k miles
@@jayortiz8225 that’s not too bad mileage wise
@@davesworld2132 my car is 200k miles and engine light always shows engine under boost so should I change turbo or leave it like that
@@StreetLegalCars what wastegate do u have ?
If we plan on keeping stock turbo are we better off only changing the waste gate?
Are you planning on doing a tune in the future ?
I plan on keeping my stick turbo for a while I added a boost control valve now what do I have to change to release tne pressure a diverted valve?
Mine flutters like that one time after startup im not sure why than afterwards it wont do it anymore.
What car do you have it on and what diverter?
@davesworld2132 17 cruze stock diverter but it is bnr tuned with a short ram intake the only way it will do is if I let off the gas fast as to make the blow off sound. I just think it's weird it will only flutter once than never again until driven again
Maybe the stock diverter corrects after that first big push of air release not sure
@@AOG_ETH It’s probably sticking so overnight it gets stuck and then when you first start the car up the boost pressure moves it
@@davesworld2132 would that be of any concern?
Should I replace it?
@@AOG_ETH yes I would worry the current one is sticking. I also have a replacement one that’s a much better one over stock.
Where are you located
Will these parts work on a same year trax? Ive already got a trifecta tune an intake
I but here is a link to a working one that fits the Cruze and the Trax

Is anything u offer applicable to the 2011 Cruze 1.4
Yes go to www.supercruzes.com The website covers 2008-2019 CRUZE and4 different engines
how about the bnr why didnt u go with it.
When you switch over to a big turbo it creates a flute type noise. If you’re not running a big turbo it works good.
@@davesworld2132 thanks for the info. im running stock turbo with trifecta tune on a 2.0 turbo redline equinox 2019 im def going Bnr then. love your vids. be great if u had any info on a wastegate for what i drive if u sell id be glad to buy from u.
@@george230 I do have one for your truck I also have a nice intercooler system that will fit.
@@davesworld2132 do u have a link for the inner cooler that wil fit. my equinox is the redline 2.0
@@george230 I think you may have emailed me this morning. I’m still waiting for pictures to come in from my customers.
what if we keep the stock turbo?
Yes but the GFB does not release enough air even though it sounds cool.
Ain't GFB valve making a flutter noise like BNR HPRV?a
If your getting a flutter your electronic part of the valve is worn. But the GFB will also create that same noise. The HPRV doesn’t.
Dam was planning on going back to the gfb but i have the bnr turbo :( fuck it ill keep the bnr one
I have a diverter that’s amazing. It doesn’t cause compressor surge and sounds like a BOV. It also kills the weird train horn noise on big turbos. supercruzesstore.com/products/cruze-malibu-equinox-diverter-bov
Just buy a mk7 😊
