Here is a guy who accepted the hand he's dealt and strived to be competent at something most people would chuckle about because it's not very prestigious. He's aware of that and yet he's humble about it and that to me is utterly amazing. Hats off to you, brother!!

Yes and I cannot believe his IQ is 70, seems more like 85-90 if not 100. The whole thing screwing me up is believing Forrest Gump really had an IQ of 75. Forrest Gump was probably 60. I agree with there being other factors or other forms of intelligence, as easy as having the ability to just say no.
I think he may have dyslexia. Those underperform in iq tests and certain work tasks because the mind loses its focus, like a very short dementia lasting 1/50 of a second ,every half a minute or so. So an IQ test for them must be given differently.
He clearly has people skills as well, he does a good job telling a story and seems like a relatable and friendly person. Those qualities are just as important as intelligence, if not more.
There’s no way this guy’s IQ is 70, he may have messed up on ‘the tests’ but he has a hell of a lot of self awareness and common sense, which is a lot more than most people I see these days! Fair play to you mate, keep going and don’t lose faith 😊
I agree completely. Perhaps the person administering the IQ test was a real low life who, for whatever reason, wanted him to believe that his IQ is incredibly low.
Absolutely this, I worked in fast food the year after I finished university, I was considered “smart” but not “employable”.. I only worked there for around 4 months and it sucked the soul out of me, and I can now say having worked in jobs that required my degree that fast food was the hardest job I ever worked, simply for its weight on my psyche. this man’s attitude is genuinely something to strive for in any job, I wish I had the will to be the same when I was in his position, truly something beyond “intelligence”, and in many cases much more important.
It’s clear from watching and hearing you express yourself that you: -Are a great storyteller -Have humility -Have deep belief in yourself and bet on yourself -Have good instincts IQ is only one measure of a person’s competence. You’re a special person brother.
I work for a company that builds online psychometric tests. There's no way he has an IQ of 70. There are people with Down's Syndrome who have higher IQ scores than that. Most likely he took some 5 minute IQ test that wasn't very accurate.
@@AapVanDieKaap He seems to be a lot higher on verbal abilities, but since he struggles with pretty basic stuff for months, maybe his IQ really is that low. You know nothing about the guy and his struggles.

I think a man's purpose is to take out the trash, produce and share beautiful things and protect them, and you can do that in a lot of different ways. People say the same thing about my autism they believe I don't have it because I can hold a conversation because they don't understand autism properly they just think of people with stereotypical symptoms who aren't high functioning. That being said iq tests only test very specific areas so people may have intelligence in other areas not measured.
@nrgbunni. I think the problem is that "pretending" to have mental illness or disabilities of some sort has become this new trend, especially amongst younger females. Literally everyone in every comment section claims to be autistic to some degree. It's so lame.

It’s hard to believe you have a low IQ with how well-spoken you are and how determined you are! Just goes to show you shouldn’t accept defeat based on a number on a piece of paper. Hats off to you for your hard work and dedication. Food service is by no means easy and takes a lot of work.
It might be hard for some to believe as well that we have high IQ individuals out here who are a complete wreck of their lives. It's fascinating to me.
I remember being shocked finding out how low my friend's test scores were. He seemed normal but apparently he could barely understand math or read very well.
As someone that takes many IQ tests for fun, it feels more like pattern recognition on top of 2 simple problems for each question. Figuring out the 2 easy solutions, then using those 2 solutions to solve the overarching question. I've seen a lot of people just overthink it. Like they lack the confidence to say "yes that's the answer, I'm sure of it" and move on.
Completely true - IQ tests are no indication of overall intelligence as you can train yourself to get a higher score, they are based on being able to revise how to pass them well. Not a true assessment of intelligence. The guy in this video is obviously intelligent, he's just denigrating himself by saying an IQ of 70. Either that or its to get views! From his descriptions he has other mental health issues which he needs to tackle, far more important than passing random tests. Getting headaches in a fast food workplace sounds like a clear warning sign to find work somewhere more healthy.@@gamesthatiplay9083
I've never considered how low IQ could affect someone, outside of a diagnosed learning difficulty. It's very uncommon to see someone talk about their own intelligence in a serious way unless they consider it to be high. Your development is incredible.
Self awareness, goal setting, working on weaknesses, managing expectations, doing research, great attitude. If I were your employer I would consider myself quite fortunate. Keep going.
My twin brother is dyslexic, did terrible in school. He is like the Da Vinci of carpentry, incredibly skilled human being. Just because you have what some people deem as shortcomings, doesn't mean you aren't incredibly gifted in one way or another.
I had a friend who was dyslexic, eventually taught himself to read in his late teens and obviously didn't do well in school. Became a world famous tattoo artist with his art published in books and people travelling across the planet to be tattooed by him. Another who dropped out at 14 and could never read, but could recite Macbeth by heart from seeing it performed. I've been tested a few times in my life and am always off the charts, yet spent most of my life on the street. IQ tests just one form of intelligence among many that we don't even have names for, let alone the ability to quantify.
I have dyslexia and a high IQ. It is not about intelligence at all. It just means your brain processes certain information differently from others, and it causes you to have challenges in some specific areas but it absolutely has nothing to do with your problem solving abilities and your IQ
Dude... You are an absolute inspiration. If 50% of all people had your mindset, our world would be 100% better. Keep on doing what you're doing. IQ means nothing - it's a positive attitude that matters most!
. @ItzTwelve0Clock That is because, through factor analysis, that intelligence, through many experiments and in practice, is one dimensional. No one has ever been able to show that intelligence has more dimensional measures than one. Also, IQ is the best psychometric statistic that exists to predict financial success, there is no other test that correlates higher to financial success than IQ. Of course if you are intelligent, but lazy and do nothing, you will obviously fail. I am not saying you cannot be successful if you are not smart. Having a low IQ does make it more difficult to be financially successful.
@@ItzTwelve0ClockYeah, iq has actually with time been proved to be a pretty bad measure of intelligence, unfortunately i don’t have a source because this is from memory, but im sure a quick search would reinforce my statement here (if not then my bad)
Let's start with the basics. You researched different jobs that you could do. You were willing to work at a fast food restaurant. You worked hard during your probation time to learn your job. You were happy that they kept you after 90 days. You are studying to help improve your IQ. You articulated all of this in a concise way that was understandable. You may not see it, but you are more highly intelligent than most people coming out of college. Not only that, you are also wise. You took a job that most people look down on. Your research, just everything about you, screams, "Here is a smart man." I would rather have my children look to you for guidance than someone with Einstein's IQ.
that last part is so true. Intelligence is detrimentally overrated. Discipline >>>> intelligence, but society clings to silly stories of elites and scientists who "changed the world". We can't have everyone change the world. You are not special when you were born. You become somebody by working, not by existing.
What’s wrong with getting guidance from someone with Einstein’s IQ? I’m just curious.. I don’t think “wrong” is the right way to say it, but I couldn’t come up with another word
Brother, you have cleared two major hurddles in life: You reconized you had an issue and you started on a way to correct it. So many prideful people will drag through life because they refuse to face those two obsticles. Good on you, my man. Keep doing the work.
My brother has a learning disability which makes it tough for him to live independently. For the past year he has been working at a bakery in the kitchen, they aren’t the nicest people to work with but my brother says that “even tho it sucks he knows that the experience will only make him stronger”. He went from the guy who couldn’t cope with taking the bus alone, to someone that pays for his own food and transportation. He is now saving up for a house. I’m constantly inspired when watching him.
All the luck in the world to your brother. Sounds like someone that’s been raised right with a good head on his shoulders. A lot more valuable than intellect today that’s for sure.
Listening to you speak eloquently for 5 minutes straight about being self-aware and humble with a good work ethic does not convince me that you have an IQ of 70. Nothing but respect, mate. You're on a path that most people never find. Keep at it!
actually the IQ just inhibits what we call social anxiety. It's not brave, it's simply the inability to perceive social fear. (I'm joking guys, he's brave)
No that's just objectively not true, but I'm sure you felt good writing it. 70 iq tasks are basically the most ripe for automation. You can't learn or adapt quick enough at that speed. It's sad, it's tremendously sad. But that's the truth.
Usually when people told me they have 140 iq I just ask about their achievements and what they have actually accomplished. And the usual bs were they’re too lazy or society don’t understand them. No successful business, no phd, masters, or even a degree. The number doesn’t really matter. At all.
Probably because you aren't that aware of what IQ actually measures. You can have an IQ of around 70 and function the exact same as anyone else, you might struggle with some reasoning issues or problem-solving, but that's not going to come up in regular conversation.
@@keissetje It's not that over simplified, the example is pulled directly from someone I know personally. Unless you know his full story, saying anything along the lines of "You act too normal to have that IQ" is just wrong. Someone could score an IQ in the 70s, and you could never know unless something relevant like Maths, problem-solving or memory task comes up, and they're not all equal. I'm no expert, but lower than average IQ doesn't always mean non-typical behaviour.
IQ is only one way to measure intelligence, specifically a measure of the ability to learn, and even then it is not universally considered a good way to measure that. Much like how one can have "book smarts" but not "street smarts" or vice-versa, one can have a low IQ but still be smart in many ways.
Much respect brotha! I hope life is treating you well 2 years later, if I hired you Id show you how to get the job done and wouldnt expect anybody to get it after a week! Keep fighting ! I will take heart over brains anyday!
Mark, I had a boss who gave me the best advice on being successful. 1) always say please and thank you 2) never ask an employee to do something you are not willing to do 3) organisation is the key to success. No where in his rules for being a good boss did he have anything about intellectual IQ. I really don't care what your IQ is. I truly believe you are a smart man and a wise man. Everyone has some type of disability that they must overcome. I suffer from depression and anxiety as well as physical problems. I must find ways to navigate this world in my own way. And at the almost age of 61, I realised that that's ok. Everybody has the ability to make this world a better place. I look forward to watching you grow and put your own stamp on life lessons! Can't agree with "don't ask anyone to do anything you wouldn't do". What if you're directing trapeze artists- I should be able to do what they're doing? What if what needs to get done is a beautiful painting and I can't draw a straight line, or pages of code need to be written and idk how to write code? That's just not realistic
This is legitimately a great example of the shortcomings of the IQ test. Perseverance, accepting reality & creativity are out of the park with this guy .
The world needs to hear more stories from people like you. Ordinary people, unfortunate people, poor people, workers, our neighbours, etc. We've seen enough fake lifestyle on TV and the internet. We need solidarity and get through the struggle together!
Soft White Underbelly is a great channel on here with tons of those stories. Interviews with homeless people, people with mental illnesses, drug addicts, etc. You name it, they’ve got it. I highly recommend. Teaches you a lot about empathy and compassion.
Nothing but respect for this young man. He’s articulate, motivated, hardworking, organised and accountable. I tested super high on those useless ‘tests’ as a kid and it made me complacent and arrogant. This guy’s taken the challenge with both hands and is a better person as a result. I’d hire him.
@@michaelsutherland5848 Also, interestingly, IQs change throughout the course of a life (I mean at least thy can still change a lot between childhood and adulthood). Seen a lot of spoiled brats who got not only extremely encouraged and empowered, but really buttered up (mostly little boys and their mothers who are absolutely sure that their precious baby must be the genius of the century). I have seen others undermined, neglected or just ignored etc. These things matter, and they have a huge impact. But often enough they also kind of balance out over the years and the neglected kids can learn to be smart on their own, the spoiled brats get lazy and arrogant and do not develop enough self-awareness and ultimately undermine their own development and wake up one day wondering why they are so average... happens a lot.
Mark, you're really articulate, have good recall, and summarised that story well. I wouldn't have thought you had any personal challenges at all. Brilliant mentality mate, any place would be lucky to have your kind of mentality.
Hey man I just wanted to say I’m fighting back tears. My iq isn’t low by any means but, I’ve often struggled to hold onto jobs. I mostly work in the food industry. To a lot of people they think that staying somewhere for 3 months or 6 months is a laughable goal. It’s not. Thank you for pushing yourself. It is an inspiration to us all.
For Real, I'm Dyspraxic and have an IQ of 115 but its very uneven and I have been let go from jobs despite doing well in school. Natural Ability can often be made up for in Effort. I'm currently a flight attendant and probably the easiest part of the job is opening and closing the doors. It wasn't for me, I literally practiced more than 20 times opening and closing because i knew i had to pass and that I wanted the job. Overall i love my job, and despite being dealt a very different hand to the video creator, I really resonate with him.
Tbh bro sometimes having a high IQ is just as bad as low IQ. I have struggled to hold down steady employment my whole life, my uncle has as well he has worked upwards of 80-90 jobs. Both of us on tested as geniuses, but both of us also are slightly on the autism spectrum and have ADHD. For us it's an issue that most jobs don't occupy us enough. Thankfully my current job allows me to read when we don't have orders coming. Because for me that's the only way I can maintain focus, by reading something during the down time and writing when ideas story ideas strike. For me as well it is the having the opportunity to read that makes me get my job done faster. In a given shift I'll usually get about 40 chapters of manga read. By being able to occupy my brain with something other than mindless repetitive action that I'm able to stay focused for the whole shift. Places that don't allow reprieves like that I always grow to resent them because I feel like I'm a replaceable cog, that the employers wants a machine not a person. But being allowed to converse with coworkers about things other than work, by being able to write, draw, or read, I feel like I can express myself and that I am being accepted by my employer, thus my productivity goes up. There's actually quite a few studies that show the more you try to squeeze 8 hours of productivity out of a worker the less you actually get, whereas when you allow for a more natural workplace balance you tend to actually get full productivity. I can confirm that with me at least balance is a must, because the more my fundamental human spirit is ground down and I'm not allowed to express myself, the more resentful and lazy I get.
My brother has Down Syndrome & Autism (so not the typical person with DS) I have a master's & bipolar. Guess who had the long career with one employer & got awards until he retired at 50 (retirement for folks with dev disabilities is a big deal...this is the first generation where living past 50 is just typical)? Yep, not me lol! My mom always pointed out our different strengths, rather than comparing us, which was great.
@@Squaretable22after reviewing symptoms, I think l need to see a doc about this. I can write nicely but they really taught us that in the 70s intensely, and I got a D in it. This is very good, very helpful. I have a family member with lower IQ, about 80, and it is stressful sometimes. We worry about what he can do and the jobs he will be able to excel at. Luckily our family loves him and will always support him but it’s very tough for the “BIF” group of individuals. People with IQs between 70-85 have a unique challenge. They appear perfectly normal on the outside but can rly struggle with basic tasks and jobs etc. this message is hopeful and I really wish you the best.
Maybe consider janitorial or window cleaning! They pay a living wage in my country and it's the easiest work I've ever done. Far easier than fast food. I have a medical condition that affects my memory significantly and it's hard to learn new things. A lot of janitorial positions require experience, but you can get around that by finding a gym to apply to. Gym janitorial gigs are very simple, require zero experience and they have trouble keeping the positions full. You won't make as much as a janitor at a gym as you would being a janitor in a warehouse, but it's doable. And once you work there you can move on to office cleaning or something. One of my coworkers at the gym had down syndrome and couldn't speak very well and had trouble learning new things. HE WAS VERY VALUED. He was there everyday, that's what mattered. Rooting for your family member!
Interestingly, there is a chart with average IQ test results per country available online. For example, South Africa scores an average of about 68 IQ. Top of my head.
You are a very self aware person. Wisdom is not determined by a IQ test, it is by reflecting, honestly, that we can grow. Keep doing what you are doing and I wish you all the success
Yup, I am high iq and the one thing that gets my mood bad the most are pretenders. Most normies are pretenders and play status games and that just makes EVERYTHING so difficult. I worked with low iq people and those days were some of my best at work, good team players who actually try to understand what they have to do. Spoiled brats will be so much more trouble.
Dude has the steel of balls to say all these and be humble and honest about it. He already has my respect that i couldn't even give to people who apparently have high IQ.
There's a direct correlation between IQ and social cognitive abilities. What might strike you right away is lack of shame in his expression. If a person finds it difficult to blush they're likely lower IQ. Not to be mistaken with social maturity, e.g being intelligent enough not to instinctively resort to fight or flight when your ego is challenged or you're finding yourself in an uncomfortable situation. If your citizens are of average low IQ social shame tactics isn't going to prevent them from committing crimes. Only threat of physical harm is going to deter them, which is why the criminal justice system that focuses on rehabilitation in some western countries don't work on immigrants.
I’m just so lost… this person has gone on to perfectly articulate themselves with great attention to detail, cohesive thoughts and a progressive storyline for about 5 minutes. I would have thought u were an an average uni student at their first job

working at mcdonalds is not a secret. mcdonalds is great service done to the world of employment. it's a sieve that captures the low iq people of society and keeps them occupied
A testament to how big of a lie IQ tests are. It is just a test. Being good in solving a test doesn't mean you are smarter. You are simply good with solving an abstract test. My results were above average since 15 years old. And I stand behind my message. On top of this having high IQ doesn't prevent anyone from being dumb or unwise. And lastly, even if you aren't dumb intellectually, you could still be dumb morally or emotionally (amoral, lacking abilities to deal with complex emotions properly).

I was completely struck with how open you were to talk about something that a lot of people are unfortunately ashamed of. It’s unfortunate because there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a low IQ, just like there is nothing wrong with having blue eyes or dimples, to name more examples of things that you can’t change. You’re a legend to me. Keep it up. Those likes are the least possible amount of people that are proud of you.

I have a 59 year old aunt, with a confirmed IQ of 69, she colors all day and plays very simple games on her tablet, she can't handle any adult responsibilities beyond cleaning her room and bathroom, and washing dishes. This guy is definitely a lot higher than a 70 based on this video.
I have to agree with that. Tho my personal experience as someone with Aspergers is that while I excel at spatial perception, have very good logic skills and tested way above average on an IQ test when I took my drivers license. My ability to deal with life skills and adult responsibilities is very limited. I also do appear somewhat childlike both in appearance, naive behaviour and personal interests.
thats weird, im autistic and i have e very high iq but im in a similar situation, im 45 but i cant handle adult stuff, i play chess and poker all day and do art, but your ant reminds me of me and im really smart !
Some people with low iq are very articulate and smart in different ways. If this guy got a real iq test done and that was his score than it’s pretty close. It may not be exactly 70 but it’s close to that
@@lullaby218yeah, IQ isn't great at measuring intelligence with social and emotional skills. Or things like responsibility. But it IS good at stuff like pattern recognition, spatial reasoning, grammar, math, stuff like that. I have an IQ of 125, but that's because my autism brain is good at those things. I'm actually a very dysfunctional person, especially socially. Though I've worked really hard on my emotional intelligence and think I outpace the average person by now.
Listening to you I am sure it's not simply an issue of low IQ. The way that you've become aware, analyzed your difficulties, and applied solutions takes a certain type of intelligence even many really smart people fail to have. You might have a specific area of learning disability, a memory disability, or possibly slower processing which isn't a limitation on conceptual understanding, it just means you need a little more time learning things.
Yeah, no way his IQ is 70. The way he broke this down, conceptually, and then arriving at a solution demonstrates problem solving ability and an ability to think abstractly.
Pretty spot on there, most people don't realize how little learning disabilities actually affect some people, the hardest part for me has always been patience if nothing else, but as long as you give half a shit about what you're doing you'll always eventually understand it just as well as anybody else. That being said I don't wanna sound like a pick me here I get there are still others who have more difficulty in general, but I do feel like the way some school systems handle this disability handle it like it means your literally fucking retarded or something (pardon my french but this stuff makes me upset) and this severely effects your self confidence and image of yourself or what your actually capable of, among many other things, messed me up pretty bad until I got out of special education in jr. high, but sheesh man it took me awhile to get readjusted, hearing this guy's story made me happy to hear
My thoughts as well. His speech is very concise kind of complex as well. I have talked to dumb people, they do not sound like this. And I don't think dumb-intelligent is a measure of worth, by the way.
@@bonkersdonkers7381is it possible he just didn’t receive a typical western education and/or perhaps isn’t great at the typical iq assesment tests? He seems like a pretty normal guy to me and actually seems to have above normal ability to asses himself and apply solutions.
This really illustrates why we should all go through life NOT ridiculing people, period. We never know the situation, the conditions, the battles they had to fight and win just to be where they are. How sad it is to have someone in a position they truly struggled for, and then someone comes along and pushes them down and adds to that struggle. I don't want to be that someone, ever. We may not be at this guy's level, but I guarantee that ALL of us have faced similar obstacles in some way, at some time, to some degree, that really maybe made our eyes well up a little at the unfairness of life. We should always deal with people with this in the forefront of our approach. Build up...don't tear down. Don't be the cause of someone's despair. My hat is off my bald head to you, friend! I wish you success, and with your attitude you WILL get it.
There's a lot of people with double your IQ but they only have half your self-awareness. Good on you for your determination to make best of everything from the hand you've been dealt.
I'm a dentist but worked in Mcdonalds for about a year. Both are intense and stressful jobs at times. Mcdonalds isn't an easy job. It does not let you off with poor performance. It's a constant revolving door of folk getting fired or not turning up and new staff getting employed. If employees stuck around for about a year and showed ability they'd often be sent for shift manager training and start to work their way up quickly.

I worked at a McDonald's through college. One of my coworkers had a noticeably below average IQ. She was taught only 1 or 2 positions and was still working there when I left. Everyone liked her-- she was always on time, did the tasks she was trained on well, we worked the other store positions without any complaint since she did a good job, and she was a nice lady. As long as you want to work and are a good person, that's all you need.
I used to work with a guy doing marquee erection and he was phenomenal. He'd been doing the job for most of his adult life and he was one of the nicest and hard-working guys you'll ever meet. He even coped with banter pretty well. Miss that guy.
This man is so admirable. No self-pity. Tries his best, works hard to improve, has a positive attitude. We could all learn a lot from this man. Many people in his position would just give up and not even try, he deserves all of his success.
Usually people who are arrogant and rude have average or lower IQ. People who are humble, kind and caring have lower or astonishingly high IQ. I’m in college and this is my experience only
Why is it surprising that he is well-spoken? The way one speaks is very much a mimick of what one hears around them as they grow up. That's got nothing to do with his intelligence quotient.
For real, 10/10 legend. Fantastic attitude, I wish he worked for me! Although I'm not in Ireland nor can I hire employees off the street in my profession, but that's almost my loss this guy is so good!
Dang. The amount of grit he had is inspiring. His joy in keeping a job for three month is contagious and I wish I could be as passionate about my work as he is. I applaud you brother.
I taught and did group therapy at a school for kids who were kicked out of their home schools for behavior issues, and most of them had learning disabilities. One of my girls had an IQ of 72, but her verbal was comparatively high, so the way she presented superficially was fairly typical. It's a totally different kind of rough, because everyone thinks you're understanding things way better than you are, and no one wants to constantly ask the world to slow down and speak carefully and simply.
I worked as a behavior technician for years and you tend to observe things over a period that long. The people with a "hard" mindset, believe in punishment etc are the ones that tended to be the least empathetic and patient with my students. I made sure to be corrective with those ones. The ones with a mindset like Mark's were the most empathetic, and honestly the most skilled overall. Those students learned faster with the patient teachers who were willing to go over every detail happily as opposed to the ones I call "shamers." Shamers tend to underperform in my opinion.
@@JP-xg6bvhow badly is that kind of system understaffed? If explained to me I often am very understanding of the kids issues actually ask my step son I am to the point I let him use it as a escuse because I don't want to punish him fir something he can't help but nah he admited to me he plays on that >:c so if I do go into that work I gotta learn to be firmer, they still kids they will say up if they know they can but I'm curious how over saturated the job market is in that area :)
I was a Burger King manager for years and your exactly the type of guy I would've looked after because it's clear you're wanting to and trying to do your best.
@Sc4recrow44 You morons are right. It would be much better to not give this guy a job and let him starve on the street. None of you know what you're talking about. People like this are not manipulated in fast food. They're generally stuck in one simple position and then gotten rid of as soon as possible. When I say I would look after him, I mean by fighting for his job against upper management for as long as he wanted it. You guys need to learn to deal with your own issues and stop trying to project them on everyone else. It's very obvious this guy stands much more of a chance of being manipulated by someone like you, likely as a virtue signal.
@@Sc4recrow44So, you're saying that people who aren't able to learn and process things well just shouldn't have a job? You're assuming this person just wants to exploit them. When they worded it more nurturing. Not every manager seeks to use and abuse employees. Some managers have just wanted to see people donthe best they can because they know they need the job. Shame on your for only seeing the bad in the world. Shame on the world for letting people only see the bad.

as someone who has just discovered having autism, and wondered why mundane tasks were always so much more mentally demanding to me, this video is relatable and makes me happy. IQ tests are standardized, by people, based on performance alone with a strict meter that doesn’t measure levels of awareness or specific skills. every person is different, and some have a rather specific capacity of knowledge or intelligence in fewer areas. regardless of a test, you seem like a bright fella with a great head on your shoulders. love the optimism, that goes a long way.
Exactly. IQ tests measure a very specific type of intelligence, but there are many types of intelligence. I have a friend with an IQ of 160 and she has blind spots a mile wide. Part of it is her autism, but standardized intelligence tests don't transfer to mental processes across the spectrum, just a narrow swath of it. The narrow swath that's being tested. I have a high verbal IQ (something I made up) and I can talk circles around her. Math? I give up.
Having the self awareness to recognise ones "flaws" and working tirelessly to improve is one of the single most inspirational thing you can see a person do. Being so open about your "flaws", even more so. Hope the past year has treated you well and you're thriving, you deserve it 👏
Mark, your journey is so very inspiring. I’m quite impressed with your communication, thoughtfulness, and forethought. You do realize you are, at the moment, a role model for others, don’t you? You are presenting yourself as a wonderful young man while at the same time bringing light and hope into the lives of others. God bless you. Thank you for being you.
Finding out your IQ score is 70 seems like something that would have most people giving up and using it as an excuse to be unemployed. It seems like it’s driven you to work harder and even improve your IQ score. You are more impressive than you know, and there’s no number on a test that can describe the value you possess
Everyone starts with low iq’s it is just we all develop at different stages. He might be later than usual but will probably develop his IQ above the average.
@@Will-nb8qk No. IQ is age appropriate and varies as one's brain develops. IQs are always calculated relative to a person's age. While the overall framework is fixed.
Dude, with that attitude and work ethic, I firmly believe there is little you can’t do given time and opportunity. I worked in restaurant management for almost 20 years and if someone showed up with your level of determination I would have hired them immediately and worked with them as long as it took. You are gold in this industry, son. Keep chipping away. I believe in you

Mark, you deserve mad respect. Your work ethic is better than that of some students in my university, and I'm confident you'll accomplish great things in life ✌. Wish you all the best man, keep it up!
You can mask a lot of human behaviors that verbally and nonverbally would fit better into the category of being "in control of every situation, objectively and subjectively" wich would be the average persons view on resilience, stability and smart thinking..... But as we know. A person with high IQ is no better at making "clever" descisions as in human understanding, than a person with a high EQ. So the question would be, Is being smart and clever, humans thinking of technology or solutions that could be useful for evolving mandkind in the future. Or is being smart and clever, taking care of your needs, and using empathy/sympathy to protect and evovle mandkind. ..Not that a person with high IQ cant use empathy for the good of multiple people, but i hope that you reading this is "clever" enough to get what im saying ;)
Someone convinced this guy that he is below average and that he cannot learn as fast as the average person. I have met hordes of unintelligent people in my life and he has none of the characteristics. I have also worked with the other end of the scale, so I have a frame of reference. What this guy shows is the attitude of a person who did not receive encouragement when growing up, in formal education and at home. I wouldn't say he has any limitation in the intelligence department but he will certainly need time to adjust, to set goals, and work towards them.
iq is a flawed system. a lot of my family are dyslexic and they are some of the most out of the box thinkers i have ever met. they would score badly on an iq test, but they are smart despite their challenges. they think of new ways to do things because they're used to having no help and they have great people skills because they've always needed classmates to help/cheat off of. so it takes you longer to learn things? you work hard in it's place. you seem very down to earth and friendly from the 5 minutes ive seen from you. i hope you are doing well and know that you are more than your iq.
This video just popped up randomly but I’m glad I watched it, I was one of those people taking my fast food job for granted when I was younger and it never even occurred to me that others may be in this type of situation for the same job. Yeah honestly. I’m just fucking depressed cause I think about everything that doesn’t involve me. Tested at 147 tho. Lmao
You certainly don't seem like my idea of someone with a 70 IQ. Kudos to you for having such a great attitude.
Probably because you aren't that aware of what IQ actually measures. You can have an IQ of around 70 and function the exact same as anyone else, you might struggle with some reasoning issues or problem-solving, but that's not going to come up in regular conversation.
@@AytherAlt gross oversimplification to the point of untruth. No I'll not argue.

Hard work will trump high intelligence Every. Time. Tortoise vs hare.
Dedication and a good attitude are worth a whole lot.
We all struggle with disciplining our thinking, and it sounds like a path for success!

Maybe your family member has the spirit to do art, paintings. Art is more from the heart than the head.

I have to agree with that. Tho my personal experience as someone with Aspergers is that while I excel at spatial perception, have very good logic skills and tested way above average on an IQ test when I took my drivers license. I'm actually a very dysfunctional person, especially socially. Though I've worked really hard on my emotional intelligence and think I outpace the average person by now.

The way that you've become aware, analyzed your difficulties, and applied solutions takes a certain type of intelligence even many really smart people fail to have.

Thanks for making this. And respect for your honesty and openness. Good luck in any of your future projects, never give up.
You cannot improve your iq, you can change your way of thinking, learn new things and retain knowledge but that doesn’t affect your iq
Because IQ tests are usually bs lol
Everyone starts with low iq’s it is just we all develop at different stages. He might be later than usual but will probably develop his IQ above the average.
@@Will-nb8qk that is not how iq works mate
@@Will-nb8qk No. IQ is age appropriate and varies as one's brain develops. IQs are always calculated relative to a person's age. While the overall framework is fixed.
Dude, with that attitude and work ethic, I firmly believe there is little you can’t do given time and opportunity. I worked in restaurant management for almost 20 years and if someone showed up with your level of determination I would have hired them immediately and worked with them as long as it took. You are gold in this industry, son. Keep chipping away. I believe in you
Amen. Almost 30 years from dishwasher to Executive Chef and now teaching. I've always tried to find a way to accommodate someone who may not have the aptitude but is determined and agreeable without a second thought. Almost always worked out well.
You're doing great my man! The sky is the limit with the right attitude and you got the right attitude! 😊
Same here. Hire character, train skill. The gentleman in the video is a gem!
I have nothing but respect and admiration for you brother. Well done.
You're seriously awesome. Thanks for making this encouraging video. My son has an IQ of 76, and he amazes me with what he's accomplished - but I'm going to send this to him. He feels so encouraged by seeing peers with similar circumstances reaching success.
Hello! Send your son to Ukraine
@alexandrcorbin1709 you are insecure as hell man.Why ukraine? And why you don't go to there too?
@@alexandrcorbin what motivated you to say such a thing?
Mark, you deserve mad respect. Your work ethic is better than that of some students in my university, and I'm confident you'll accomplish great things in life ✌. Wish you all the best man, keep it up!
Nobody with a 70 IQ says “ so, I did some research”. You are way smarter than you are giving yourself credit for!
He said he started off that way, but has been doing IQ rehab or something.
That doesn't exist@@champagnebulge1
Irish people are terrible jokers - LOL.
He's having a lend of everyone.
Big respect to you my friend and I hope you have continued to improve yourself in the time since this video was posted 💪🏽👍🏽
There’s no way your iq is still at 70. That hard work is paying off, big time.
You are well spoken, gainfully employed, and have a seemingly warm and engaging personality. I recommend learning a second language and/or learning an instrument. It does great things for one’s brain development/elasticity. I see a bright future for you. Just subscribed. Happy holidays to you and your loved ones.
Yeah. I agree. Absolutely no way it’s 70. He’s just as brilliant as any other man
Dude absolutely is at 70 when he is struggling to manage a job at McDonalds. IQ also doesn't change over your lifetime. That doesn't mean that you can't train those people to do very easy work with a bit of effort but learning will always stay hard for them.
IQ is around pattern recognition within time: e.g. when Mark references struggling to use the correct tray and keeping up with the pace of the kitchen
@@7HUNDERGOD-fx5ct IQ definitely changes with work. You can train your brain in many aspects. Pattern recognition, reading comprehension, learning how to break down problems in to smaller pieces, etc.
you can change your IQ, however its only due to physical trauma (concussion) and alcohol (neurological degeneration) and the only way it can change is down. Source my college professor doctor of psychology clinical psychologist
Man your communication skills, goal setting and attitude is an unstoppable force, talent is nothing without determination. God bless
yeah I'm skeptical that the iq is really showing his full potential. I've met plenty of people with low low low IQs and this guy is far from an idiot.
What a great, well spoken message. I see bigger things on your horizon. Never underestimate the importance of a good work ethic, that alon can take you farthanks tor being a inspiration for many people who need the exact advice you gave
Hey mate yt is crap lol so this is 2 years late. I really like your hard work and attitude man. This was inspiring. You seem like a cool dude. Hope you're doing well today. Thanks for giving me a positive attitude this morning. Good shit bro
This is the definition of humility. Thanks Mark for sharing this with us.
I freaking love this guy!!! Getting ready to go to bed. Gonna add this young man to my prayers tonight. I really hope this feller gets what he wants out of this life. He's doing something about his shortcomings, and not giving up. He may have a low I.Q, but his heart is full of grit!!!!❤❤❤
You are smarter, wiser and more gentle than many, friend. Your video made me feel happy. Thank you ❤
Well done man, super inspirational to hear. Rooting for you from Australia!
