"If in doubt...flat out!" McRae the legend. RIP
So many UA-camrs drive like grandmas on tracks and say it was exhilarating. Props for thrashing that car such that I can see you're moving fast on video. Keep it up
That's because most of them can't drive. This guy can, and so can Chris Harris, but Top Gear stole him so his channel is dead.
@@michaelsteffensen6844 Chris Harris is much better on his own. The format of Top gear that they just continued from the Clarkson days doesn't suit him at all. They honestly should've revamped the whole show.
Right?
Take a look at David from Driving Experience (amazing channel) on his last video driving a Group B Rally Winner on the road. And driving it...not cruising :D
@@michaelsteffensen6844 Harris actually (used to) participating in the VLN N24 and Blancpain Endurance series, which sorta explains his driving skills
Honestly, Colin wouldn't have it any other way... "If in doubt, flat out!!"
"if in doubt, flat out"
When in doubt. Pimp my Riiiiide
@@hondamanvtec2894 x-zibit
Eh no..
@@360nastybusiness eh..Yes
Eh...lol
Being both a McRae and a Subaru WRC team fan, I almost cried watching this.
Me too
Good man. They are both sorely missed.
Only sweet memories left, nothing like the impreza gc8 n mc rae.😉👍
R.I.P legend
Me to big time
I still remember in 2007 the day my cousin sent me a message on MSN asking if I had heard the news. Seeing this hearing him say i would drive this flat out, with no doubt really brought a tear in my eye. Thanks for this video, made my day to see a part of McRae alive again.
Henry, I’ve followed your career since your early Evo days and can appreciate just how much this experience meant to you, thank you for making it possible for us to come along for the ride. Outstanding
Just wonderful. What a dream to have this opportunity. Thanks for the video!
Rally cars really are something else
I saw this very car back in the Safari in 97 back here in Kenya. On the day that WRC announces a return of the Safari Rally to the 2020 calendar i really appreciated this clip. Simply Brilliant!!
@Roger Dodger im in!
Yea i also remember this car racing in the plains of kajiado
Best car video of 2019 without a doubt.
If there were clips of the pure sound of the car without the music, then it would be
Bro I thought the exact same thing!
No that would be the top gear video of the first Porsche watch it if you haven’t.
Absolutely :)
No one can disagree
The car is saying these at the same time “glad to go out again” and “COME ON YOU MAN DRIVE HARDER”
The profile of those gravel tyres looks so high!
Well done to this chap for keeping this piece of history alive. Love the line "If I had just one more tank of fuel..."
that line is on par with "your last meal".
so poignant
....or as i used ti call him when i was youger: Colin McRally
Lol, i thought i was the only idiot that called him that 😂
I used to call him Colin McCrash
cos Germany has no sense of humour :)
I’ve not watched this yet but this has to be a bucket list moment for you Henry surely!?
shane holley Very much so!
The first generation Impreza was the best. That wicked rear wing still leaves me in awe. I can tell, this was a bucket list wish for Henry, he loved it.
Literally smiling so hard my face hurts. Favorite car to ever exist. Awesome video guys
Special car - if in doubt, flat out - and boy did Colin make those cars dance.
I still get goose bumps recalling the only stage of the RAC that crossed into Scotland when McRae won the WRC title in '95 we were spectating in the forest over a crest with a right, left, right fast chicane that was unsighted by the crest and Colin was visibly faster than all the top drivers and came into sight sideways ready for that first right with the car up on it's tip toes. Fabulous times thank you Henry for bringing it back to me watching this video.
I went to pick up a dishwasher for my daughter and the bloke had two of Colin McRae’s cars in his garage. One Subaru and the other was his ford focus. They looked beautiful. A clutch for the focus was £12k. This bloke was in communication with Colin’s dad.👍
Befriend the bloke then
Wait...your daughter's a female, so isn't she the dishwasher?
who the fuck buys a used dishwasher
@@divanosoba9658 might not be bought, these things are difficult to get rid of alone. Sometimes people list things to get rid.
@@fingmoron if only you could read properly: "I went to pick up a dishwasher for my daughter" . That means he bought it used for his daughter.
My dream car when I was a teenager, everything about it was fantastic, still looks awesome!
The title of the video gave me goose bumps, that car passed me in transition from Silverstone super special stage to the M1 (A43) on the way to the next stage (I think Birmingham not sure a while ago) doing exactly 70mph on a dual carriageway and every single driver that wasn't in a rally car did 50-60 mph on inside lane just so we could see . Special memory.
I've owned a lot of fast cars and bikes but the best toy I ever had for pure exhilaration was a 98 WRX with $30K of mods. Ive always rated that experience at the top, way above road bikes, dirt bikes, skiing, snow boarding, bungee jumping, sky diving, hang gliding..... That amazing chapter ended in 2005 after I hit a tree wiping the entire right side out, another 1/2 foot across and I wouldn't be writing this.
You can really see how fun this car is too drive, usually that doesn’t translate to video but this looked like something very special.
Catchpole with the full send
Can you please stop it henry... Stop making me cry with such beautiful videos and that calming voice. PLEASE STOP!
I love how he communicate with the car properly. Look at his lines, angles, steering input and throttle works. Its amazing
The mid-90s was magical for racing.
Superbikes, (WSB), cars...... Everything was just so much more exciting. So glad I had the privilege of growing up in that era.
This gave me goosebumps. Thanks for taking us along in a once in lifetime thrash.
Seeing Collins car being driven as it should is just beautiful. Colon just lived 20 minutes away from me. R.I.P colin. Gone but never forgotten ✅
Carfection has got to be without a shadow of a doubt the best motoring channel on youtube at the moment, Ive yet to see Henry do a bad video.
Id love to see an all new motoring show with Henry, Mr JWW, Chris Harris and Jethro Bovingdon.
Sutcliffe and Meaden surely before JWW... Even Tiff...
Harry's garage too, if we are collecting the sort of channels you can mix, match and watch for hours.
JWW does not belong in that list
Thats just my opinion lads
Actually, where's Jethro? I have not seen him in a long time...
Mr. Henry Catchpole, you sir are the luckiest man alive to have such a massive opportunity to drive the best Subaru bar none in the world and the envy of every male rally fan in the world, you have just won your bucket list lottery, thank you and much gratitude for bringing this video to fruition to all humble subscribers, freaking awesome👍
I don't think I will ever tire of this channel...
RIP CM 🏁
a great driver and a gentleman.
great memories of CM Rally on PlayStation (v1.0)
The intro!!!
I'm not even one minute into the video and absolutely amazed.
The link from past to present with a drift with the logo transition.
I'm actually standing up applauding.
Well done gentleman, well done!
i love it how you ended it with saying "flat out, no doubt" as homage to McRae's When in doubt, flat out !
Wow, what a car and what a pedigree. We talk about the legend who is McRae, but let's not forget the army of people that brought this wonderful machine to life. We salute you all.
What a machine, you lucky lucky man. That is one of the big differences between older and more modern cars - I had my 02 WRX for fourteen years and the approach angle on a corner was out wide, throttle, turn in. Modern cars with electronic clutch packs allow you to take a normal line and bury it into the corners like physics doesn't matter. In fact if you tried that out wide, throttle and turn in, in something like an RS you'd be eating hedge. Another great video.
what a shame you put music over the flat 4 engines soundtrack
My god I miss Colin Steele McRae MBE, thank you Henry for taking us along for the ride
The quality of this video is second to none.
Just from this video, idk if the editing played a part but that car looks like one of the most engaging cars I’ve ever seen.
This is the first ever moment where I wanted Henry to not talk anymore and just drive! Drive it like its always meant to be!😍
Pllleeease post some uncut footage of the in car camera. Pretty please with cherrys on top. 😀😉
I saw McRae wrc Subaru 1997! I clicked as fast as I can! Dude a f...... Legend! Thank you for giving the passion of Subaru's car! It's my 9th Subaru and I own 😂
Henry getting to drive one of my Holy Grail cars. Thank you.
I really appreciate that the owner not only has great taste in cars, but that he also actually drives them - and has the generosity to share and let the rest of us get a taste of the experience as well!
Thank you Henry catchpole and Subaru
Thank you Mr Catchpole and Co. (just living vicariously through Harry's drives).
Takes me back to my youth, care free days, when i would avidly follow all motorsport on tv.
The 2 door Impreza is one of the greatest cars man has ever built. You don't get into one of these, you strap it on. Absolutely beautiful video.
I'm Indonesian and I love McRae with his Subaru drove into the forest and mud in Rally Indonesia WRC '97. There were few accident that cannot be forgotten, and I was 2 years old. And then i replicated his moves in Colin Mcrae Rally in my PS One. A very memorable moment.
Only 7 mins? I could watch a full hour of this! Thank you, for this amazing content!
I'm not a Subaru fan, but there is no denying this is one of the best WRC cars ever built. The sound, the looks, the simplicity, the power, just beautiful.
I actually got goosebumps watching you drift around those corners
Gives me goosebumps even to watch it .. seen it in real-time going full attack with the unreal Colin at the wheel , never will I forget it.
This car is everything, Colin was everything, this is where my love of 4 wheels comes from, one off the bucket list Henry
This made me emotional.....Im getting old...
One of my favourite cars ever! That would be my last tank of fuel! RIP Colin. I bet he enjoyed this! Cheers from Portugal!
That last tank of fuel remark got me close to tears.
Favorite memory of my Subaru is power sliding down mountain hairpins with clouds literally coming in one window and out the other.
If in doubt, go flat out. i absolutely love you for saying that, thanks
I have always been a Mitsubishi Evo kind of guy (own one) and Tommi Makinen fan, but have always had massive respect for the Subaru Impreza WRC car and Colin McRae. Group A rally was the best form of rallying in my opinion, and always had me glued to the TV screen as a teenager. Watching the Evo v Impreza v Celica v Escort v Delta face-off was epic. Awesome video!
My drive .... Ari Vatanen’s Escort RS1800 in Rothmans livery ...... it was on my bedroom wall for years ...... just the noise. Great video Henry 👍
Stoked for you Henry. I know how much you love the art form of driving that is rallying. You must still be pinching yourself!
Great Video. All I will say is I've had my original classic shape Impreza for 20 years as my daily drive and it still puts a big smile on my face every time I take her out.
Henry's enthusiasm as a gearhead is palpable, I love it.
I got to drive a race prepped clone of this car and it was shocking how quickly and beautifully it responded and communicated. It's been 20 years and I still think of that care regularly. Lovely machines.
It's this car that made me go and get my own 'dream' car, but it had to be a Forester XT for the family space. However it's still got 200kw at the wheels, rear 1.5 way plated LSD which locks under power, 20kg Sti rally centre diff and Sti helical front LSD and a Sti Tyre RA Spec C steering rack with a 13:1 ratio. With a 2" lift and all terrain tyres, it's an absolute weapon on gravel and rough surfaces. 0-100 on gravel in 5 secs, so much grip when sliding through corners under power. Just a blast to drive!
Late 90's nostalgia gives a lovely warm feeling in the pit of my stomach...
Seeing the 22B on the streets back then was something special and of course the revolutionary motorcycle back then was the Yamaha R1...
Good times!
It's safe to say that hendry will even pay Carfection money to do this JOB. I really love his excited face
The 90’s. The pinnacle of Motorsport across the board! When drivers actually drove the vehicle. Bravo Carfection! 👏🏻
As someone who used to watch the legend as a kid the video brought back alot of nostalgia
I keep coming back to watch this. I don't know why but it makes me emotional.
This remains one of the top 5 car related films in my list. Bravo, Carfection, and Henry, of course.
Thank you Carfection, thank you Henry, thank you Girardo, oh my word this is incredible!
The Computer games Colin McRae 1 and especially 2.0 was just amazing and I always drove this Subaru. RIP Mr McRae.
This video was without a doubt epic, hugly appreciating Catchpoles driving skills
this and makinen's evo v are my all-time favorites. what an honor it would be to drive. great video, great driving.
Love the music the car is producing
I love anything Henry does. I think this is my favorite video of them all!
The Year I was born, and the car that got me into cars and motorsport. Perfect.
Dude, this video made me feel so happy for you. How incredible it must've been to drive such an icon!
Shifting + turbo sound is cleaning my soul
Special car, I was in my 2nd year of high school in Kenya when McRae won the safari, such memories, such an awesome car
Epic. Such a special car that fitted McRae perfectly. I am very envious Henry, thank you for sharing it.
This brings back memories of VRALLY on PS1
7:08 is just not enough i mean come on!!
indeed I was like wtf is that it.......
Brilliantly done folks! Another amazing video. Thank you so much.
What a video. What a car. What an era. Thank you for making this video Henry.
I would say this 97-2000 model was the pinnacle of WRC Imprezas. They never had such a complete package again. And they were probably the best looking wrc cars.
Best Impreza video all of time, absolutely dreams come true...
"Flat out, no doubt?" I see what you did there.
Still one of the most incredible looking and beautiful sounding cars to have ever been made.
THIS. IS. EVERYTHING!
This gave me goosebumps. Fantastic film, great editing and just enough sound to make me want to dip into UA-cam’s rabbit-hole of WRC footage. Thanks, Henry!
Well done Henry, what a fitting piece to bring to the masses, the emotion and tactility of such an iconic car, the fact that Colin had sat in that exact seat before you must have brought a tear to your eye. Thankyou for your efforts in bringing this wonderful piece of history to our screens.
So good to see Max back, more content with him please
perfect video to start off my morning at the office
AMAZING ! Henry you may have done more elaborate reviews, but this one is probably one of the most emotional and I loved it ! This is the car that really drove me into rallying as well. Hats off for the claim « if I would have one last tank of gas » !
Excellent shots by your videographer as well.
Thanks for this superb content !
This video solidified my goal of owning a 22B one day.
They're becoming extremely rare and very expensive...
You dont need a real 22b! A 2 Doors with some upgrade is the same thing If you look at the performance and the look, if you want the 22b for collection its another story!
This video, this Subaru brought a tear to my eye. Thank you. Flat out, no doubt!
I don't usually comment on UA-cam videos but this one gave me the goosebumps. Nice one. Guess I'll start my marathon of old wrc videos now. Who needs to pass their exams right??
I don't know if it's color correction, the lighting, the camera, or all of these things, but the colors are just gorgeous in this video!
Nice tribute to Colin, he was a lengendry WRC driver.
